How good is Lallana

he (AL) lacks a yard of pace that world class players have.

Not all good players need pace I cite the likes of Sheringham and a certain M Le Tiss as good examples they depended on a unique combination of skill and intelligence to make things happen. Both qualities which Adam has in abundance. I believe he will go on to exploit these to the full. Players with electric pace tend to fade from their mid twenties onwards players with Skill and intelligence have at least 5 more years in them. Adam will be around for a long time if he can stay injury free (crossed fingers) and will continue to improve with experience and strength!

Lallana doesn't lack pace if we needs a bit more hes young still to improve it slightly like bale did.

Lallanas skill passing and crossing makes him a better player then AOC and Theo, who if they had lallanas pace they wouldn't be at arsenal they would be at a midtable team or a poor prem team.

TBH I'm amazed, but wonderfully pleased, that no one has come in for AL. I'm sure he could hack it in the top flight!!!! Just pray we get to test that out when he is wearing a Saints shirt!!

Maybe some clubs were waiting to see what he can do this season, so fingers crossed that he continues to want to stay here. Our best signing last year was renewing his contract.

You can't compare a winger/left back to an attacking midfielder, the Bale and Lallana comparison is unfair. Lallana's strength is from cutting in and providing creativity by doing that, whilst also having the ability to turn his man on the outside too. His strength will never be out and out pace, but creativity and quick feet.

I'm pleased he didn't win it. We need Adam here for the season and if he starts winning these type of awards, its only a matter of time before the big boys start circling, in order to fill their British player quota next season.

These types of posts do my nut in. The big boys are well aware of Adam's talent, and will have been for a long time. A player of the month award isn't going to make them suddenly realize he's mint.

Perhaps they are but the most press and attention he gets, the more inclined your Aston Villa's, Newcastle's and Everton's will be to whack in a bid before the proper big boys start showing serious interest. I'm fairly confident Lallana is loyal to the cause but put an offer of £40k a week and regular Premier League football on the table and it might, just might be enough to turn the lads head.

Certainly not at xmas it won't be, as he is already apparently on £25k a week, and we'll be on track to the Prem ourselves, and he'll be sure to get a decent payrise with us when that happens.

The big boys still go crazy for pace and power, 2 things you probably wouldn't associate with Adam Lallana. What's great about him is that it's taken so long for it to be recognised that he doesn't need them. He controls games, he has influence. It's a rare quality in English players. Not many others can do it. Chamberlain couldn't do it in Lallana's absence last season although he may develop that quality with experience. The England team that played Wales really lacked someone to keep possession, bring others into play and control the game, which meant we only saw the odd flash and we were very fortunate that was enough.

I think only really Lallana and Wilshere have that quality. For me, that more than makes up for sometimes taking one too many touch or being a bit powder puff in front of goal. For that reason, I wouldn't swap him for any of turrent England squad at this moment in time.

You wouldn't swap him for Ashley Young ?!

You're way off IMO. Clubs don't use the media as a basis for buying players - they have massive scouting networks for that.

When you look at the effort AL puts into tracking back at times, there is no way you would put him in the same mould as MLT for effort or pace. Skill wise he is not far off but goal wise there are very few fit to lace MLT's boots.

I don't know how good AL will become, but I would let any other player go before him. You only have to look at our record with and without AL to see what a massive contribution he makes. Against Millwall he was flat for some periods and the whole team looked flat as a result. AL to me is the vital ingredient which makes this current team tick. I would have been more concerned if we kept Oxo and let AL go, superb player.

that is not the point...the point being him somehow getting player of the month and press attention leading to this....

Given that the majority of the 20-odd "Championship previews" I read at the start of the season stated our "Key Man" was going to be Rickie Lambert, Alex OC, Kelvin Davis or Jose Fonte, I would say AL has gone largely under the radar by the press. Winning such accolades will attract more media attention and speculation and I don't care who you are, there is always a risk that an increase in that sort of attention could turn some peoples heads.
