TBF 3 games from 5 they've defended very well.

Agreed, but our best defender was at fault for the first goal, so it's not just about buying a new defender. It's about being awake and concentrating the whole game.

So a bit of work with the defence will probably put right what was wrong yesterday.

Although I wouldn't object to a new decent central defender coming in.

But it wasn't like ( as some suggested) you could just point the finger at one defender yesterday and say without him the result would have been different...

I agree. If only Fonte had worked harder in training, he probably wouldn't have slipped. :|

The slip was ok but if you watch the goal unfold, he lets his man go.

I'm not faulting the guy, it's just that it seems to me wrong to say drop Seaborne, buy 'xx' and these goals will stop.

If and when people make mistakes, we will concede goals, whoever they are.

both looked far better than the £5m Mills who was decent in the air but not on the deck.

Obviously I have a soft spot for Mills as an ex Saint, but it puts into perspective the kind of money we might have to spend to get what is perceived to be better than what we have.

I am all for spending to improve a team. All for it. But is a CB a game changer worth spending £6m or £7m on in this league?? Not a question I could answer...

If we couldn't score goals and that sort of money bought you a proven scorer, different story I think.

On the basis that Fonte cost us just over £1m ( I think?), surely we can get someone of the right quality for say £2m? Was talking about this yesterday and surely there's got to be enough cash available after the Chamberlain deal to cover that?

how the feck was their 3rd allowed to stand.!!!!!

and how on earth did we not equalise..???

They didn't show Connollys shot which i think beat Schmichel at his near post, hit the post and came back and got stuck between his legs so he could pounce on it or Lamberts chance in injury time where he should have smashed it, plus the 3 or 4 goal bound shots which their defends somehow got something in the way of.

Had Lambert been the attacker instead of the defender, that push on him would have been a nailed on penalty. So why does it not work the other way around when Lambert was pushed in the box as the defender? The referee has dropped a major clanger in awarding the goal and deprived us of a point and the continuation our unbeaten run.

I don't know. Fonte seems like a bargain now at the price. If Mills goes for £5m! If we could pick one up for £2m who could walk into the team, I'm sure we would.

well I might guess that it's TOO much for a player in CCC. There are lots of good players in this league who just wouldn't be able to cut it in the Prem (and I don't mean just Saints players either.)

We got out of L1 by buying in the best available L1 / CCC players, and as we obviously are looking to Prem. football next season,

we have to buy players who can make the "quantum leap " into the Prem. and last the course. £6 million is too much unless you are buying an established player - even with international experience - if you can't see the quality making it at a higher level.

IMHO the likes of; Cork, Lallana and Schneiderlin wouldn't be out of place in the Prem.....after that I'd need to think a bit harder to give you three more names...

you can see them on Foxes Player though, providing that you're a Player subscriber of course.Looked at the few minutes of footage yesterday, not great defending for their first 2 and it's difficult to tell much about the Lambert incident, only reason I could see for the ref not giving a foul in our favour would be if he thought Lambert was making a back, which is an offence in itself.

Well said.

I have posted something similar a few times since the match, mostly in response to people blaming Seaborne for everything.

I got a damned good ignoring from them on all occasions!

So it's good to know at least one other poster feels the same as I do.

dont f ucking moan, enjoy your holiday. Somewhere nice?

I am not moaning you numpty, quite the reverse!!!

I am sick of people moaning about Seaborne being the cause of our defensive malaise.

He couldn't be faulted for any of the goals we conceded, but apprently if he wasn't playing and Paulo Maldini/John Terry/Sol Campbell had been in there instead, Fonte wouldn't have slipped and the linesman would have given a free kick...

Bloody bonkers!

And yes lovely thanks. :)

Think I posted something similar. Seaborne wasn't at fault for any of the goals as far as I could see. On the radio they were blathering on about how they thought he had been booked twice, sp guess there were some issues with him being beaten at other times, but really isn't an issue for me. Fact is that whether Seaborne/Martin are good enough or not, we need another CB to get through the season, especially with Jaidi not being fit and not expected to get another season after this.
