niemi14 Posted 27 August, 2011 Posted 27 August, 2011 Paul Merson is literally a shocking pundit. Yes he played professional football but the man hasn't a clue and seems to have no knowledge whatsoever, let alone the ability to read a players name of a teleprompter. Yeah it's funny sometimes but he is a joke.
JackFrost Posted 27 August, 2011 Posted 27 August, 2011 Dean Windass seriously what were they thinking. .
bridge too far Posted 27 August, 2011 Posted 27 August, 2011 Dean Windass seriously what were they thinking. . Have his services been dispensed with this season? Dreadful reporter - I could have done better and at least I would have been understood!
Hatch Posted 27 August, 2011 Posted 27 August, 2011 I think they only hired Windass as a joke, but no-one found it funny.
SuperMikey Posted 27 August, 2011 Posted 27 August, 2011 Don't get it on freeview anymore so don't care. Great contribution. I avoid Soccer Saturday, I watch Final Score (muted) on the BBC website with Saints Player on in the background.

niemi14 Posted 27 August, 2011 Author Posted 27 August, 2011 oh and Liano and De Riddler now play for saints, apparently.
eurosaint Posted 28 August, 2011 Posted 28 August, 2011 I quite like Soccer Saturday, Jeff Stelling is brilliant at what he does and with the footballers (including Merson!) you get what you see and you see what you get ! TBF they have never been the most articulate bunch but they know the game and, for me, it comes across as such ! Also (for an ex-Skate) Merson was not in any way derogatory about Saints yesterday and actually said that he was glad that he had been allocated our game as it was so entertaining ! The 'De Ridler' bit was funny and they all took the p#ss, so no problem ! It's easy to moan about broadcasting but (if taken in the right spirit!) this programme is both informative and amusing ! All IMHO of course !
revolution saint Posted 28 August, 2011 Posted 28 August, 2011 I like Soccer Saturday even with it's preoccupation with all things prem. Merson is a prat but the rest of them are ok and is infinetly better without the the halves of the pantomime horse that were Rodney Marsh & Frank McClintock. Jeff Stelling is also the best football anchorman in the business.
ecuk268 Posted 28 August, 2011 Posted 28 August, 2011 Anyone else going to the Soccer Saturday Show at The Mayflower next month? Me and ecuk268 junior will be there. Not many tickets left.
miserableoldgit Posted 28 August, 2011 Posted 28 August, 2011 Me and ecuk268 junior will be there. Not many tickets left. Really?? I wasn`t sure how popular this would be but if this is true, it should be a good evening. MLT should get a good reception.
Golden Balls Posted 28 August, 2011 Posted 28 August, 2011 I like it and Merson makes me laugh. I've often sat and watched it from start to finish!!
ecuk268 Posted 29 August, 2011 Posted 29 August, 2011 Really?? I wasn`t sure how popular this would be but if this is true, it should be a good evening. MLT should get a good reception. The Stalls and the Circle are sold out. We're perched up in the Balcony.
