Leicester 3 - Saints 2 Post Match Fred

In the end not a disaster.

Sounds like we made a poor start and some dodgy defending but we had the better 2nd half.

Lessons to be learnt, and I am sure we will get our CB.

Silver lining ? No longer being top takes the pressure of us.

Brighton must be feeling good !

woefull defending in the first half..

and we have had since the beginning of June to sign a decent center back....

12 points from a possible 15.

12 goals in 5 league games.

there really isn't anything to moan about.

We could do with a CB, and I'm sure Adkins feels the same. The lads have done bloody well so far though.

As I wasn't there I have absolutely no clue what caused us to concede 3 goals, so I'll be reserving judgement until I've at least seen the highlights. Sounded like Fonte slipping over is about all that can be identified as a definite contributor so far.

Bound to lose at some point but sounded like we playe well second half. Need a new CB but we all knew that. Hopefully get Waghorn and a CB in before the deadline. Wonder if Adkins will comment after the game?

Oh and Fox sounded good, some class balls into the box - maybe start in the next game.

Adkins will never ever comment about speculation, only when a deal is all but done. Annoys me that the media keep trying.

Sounds as if Adkins substitutions worked. AL was unlucky on another day he could have had a hat trick. De Ridder and Fox sound the real deal (although De Ridder needs to learn not to give away sill free kicks in time added on).

Agree new CB required but lets not just dwell on that eh?

Fans sounded awesome (again!) so hats off to every last one of you!

Disappointed but not disheartened!

Crap first half, superb second half. Need a centre back to solidify things, and a striker to put away the chances we had in the second half. Do that, and we'll walk this league.

A good defeat, if there is such a thing, because it will bring the lads down to earth, and yet we gave a very spirited performance in a game that could have got away from us. We've showed we're not pushovers, and hey, we're still in the promotion spots. Shame it's behind Brighton - they'll love that.

Well the result may not have been right, but I think a few questions have been answered today, Adkins proved he can change things at half time (good tactical switch). We've proved we can overcome a poor start & take anyone on on their own patch. We came up against a keeper on fire & just needed a little bit of luck. Two home games to come & 6-more points will do nicely. Big up to the fans who went they sounded awesome.

I'm not sure whether the first half came from Leicester taking the game to us or from us taking a more cautious approach with a high-powered team.

Either way, I'm convinced from what I've seen that we're a front foot team, and that's how we have to play.

Still, we've faced up to some of the division's best (at least the most expensive) and found ourselves more than competitive.

Showed us the extra quality that Fox has brought in, and Cork for that matter - switching him to RB and Sven being cautious became a different game.

Shows we need those two signings, clear step up in quality from what we have, shows De Ridder will be useful but he is clearly still naive

Many will moan at Seaborne but it was Fonte at fault for the first which rattled us IMHO from what DM said.

Great 2nd half, well done to NA for the changes that did that.

But time for Fox to start and let's not get rid of Richardson just yet

Jutkiewicz in please! My choice for striker. Scored again today too. Chelsea signed Lukaku who's a Chelsea fan, I just think signing a decent, young striker who's also a Saints fan would be a good move. Not expensive either. Gawd knows who for centre back.

Good performances today from the subs it sounds, De Ridder and Fox were really staking their claim for a first team spot. I don't like sticking Cork at right back, but with 4 good central midfielders, could this be an option for the future?

How we bounce back from this is key. Swindon could be in for an arse whopping, especially if we start Fox and De Ridder.

Well, there goes the hundred percent record, although because of the way we played, I strangely feel my confidence increased that we can at least get a play-off place, or even automatic promotion, because I am of the opinion that we are the better team than Leicester. We gifted them their goals through naive defending and bad luck. It seems from what I heard on the commentary, that the Lambert goal should have been disallowed because Lambert was pushed onto the ball which then went into the net off him. Also, it sounded as if Kelvin should not have been beaten at the near post by Vassell.

On the other side of the coin, when we came out for the second half, we were all over them and there were factors which meant that we should have at least drawn, if not won the match. Seemingly a decent penalty shout, at least three brilliant saves by Schmeichel and one off the woodwork and aguably a couple of the players were lucky to remain on the pitch following some nasty tackles, especially Pantsil, but maybe also Danns. Pantsil seems to be a very nasty piece of work, studs up against Connolly and Lallana and the impression was given that we were playing them off the park in the second half and that they cynically planned to slow down the players pulling the strings.

Tactically, SGE got it right the first half, but Adkins made the changes tactically to totally change it around in our favour. Guly looked to have left us exposed on the right by not tracking back to protect Richardson and Leicester exploited it to give them the advantage. De Ridder coming on for Guly and Cork going to right back made it very difficult down that flank and I wonder whether Richardson was injured or just shown up for pace?

So although defeated, I believe that in terms of our defence we defeated ourselves, but in terms of our attack, we caused the most expensive team in the division all sorts of problems and had Schmeichel still been suspended, probably would have put five or six past them.

Which of the goals we conceded were down to Seabourne? I will wait for the reaction of people at the match or the highlights before drawing conclusions

It doesn't have to be just about today. For some bizarre reason, a lot of people had him down as MoM last week but I certainly didn't see that as the case. Besides, it doesn't just have to be about goals that Seaborne was directly accountable for...

Accepted but we need to remember he is a young lad with room to improve! Just look at how Matt mills turned out. We need to give the lad a chance! It is not his fault we dont have a 2nd regular to partner Fonte and he is filling in (mainly well by all accounts)

That sounded like a great game and we still stay in the automatic places, great start to the season.Tactically we seemed to have got caught out in the first half with Leicester fronting up with two banks of four, but I doubt there are many teams with the quality of Leicester to take advantage. For me things have not changed since the start of the season, we still need that CB and a main striker with pace.

Very impressed with the way we pressed Leicester in the second half, showing we have the fitness to keep kicking on. Very important to give players a rest in the week, otherwise we will suffer. As disappointed as I was with the first half, equally pleased with the second half. If we can't get the quality of players in that we want, I would prefer to go for loans or even wait for the next window. As much as the right players are needed, a lot of the options would not be that great an improvement and make the squad look mediocre.

The start reflects poorly on Adkins, but he certainly knew what to do in the second half and I expect him to come out with more in the locker after this.

Just left the ground. Stunning 2nd half display. Unfortunately, each Leics goal was scored at just the wrong time.

They are quite a fragile team based on this. Poss play off candidates, but not much better.

If Saints can keep up this sort of display, I think we can finish in the top 17:-)

De Ridder shld be considered as a starter for us. We perhaps lack a turn of pace w/o him.

Lets also not forget that the 3rd goal was controversial as well, may well have been a whole different ball game going in at 2-1.

All of those who reckon that Fox impressed enough to claim a start at LB, appear to have forgotten the great goal that Harding scored to put us back in the match when we were two down. Easier to impress as a fresh pair of legs coming on late when you are battering the opposition than to shine earlier on when everybody elses' legs are as fresh and you are under the cosh.
