Warnock on the Gorkss transfer

Funny, somehow I knew it wouldn't be a praising post. Don't see FF starting threads with articles praising the chairman do we? Wonder why that is... missing out on some privileges now perhaps?

Saint Ash what a tacky little post.

And just in case you are still wondering, I get now exactly what I have always got for services rendered. A free season ticket and, for the record, sales of my books in the club shop have netted the club £50,000 plus over the last decade so they get their monies' worth I reckon if you are up for doing the maths.

I think you're missing the point. Axe to grind = FF's post. 'Please don't shoot the messenger'...... yeah right....you're the mug here UP.....sometimes people post here to suit their agenda....don't be so naive.

Chin Strain - perhaps you will elaborate on my axe to grind - you obviously know me better than I do?

For the record I have never met NC, I have no axe to grind but as I have always done in my Saints supporting life going back to he days of Ted Bates, I reserve the right to criticise (or praise).

I have been very critical over the years of Ted Bates, yes the Milton called for his sacking on more than one occasion. Lawrie McMenemy, no one liked him at first. I wrote to Ian Branfoot to complain about his tactics, I had a bust up with Guy Askham about the way the club shop was run (it went bankrupt owing me lots of money). I had as you know a serious difference with Ruper Lowe. I am critical of my club full stop when I see the need but I also praise when neccesary. Can someone tell me is there suddenly a rule now that we can't be critical and if you do you have an agenda. If so I have been running my agenda since 1963.

FF, you're a fairly prominent poster on here, if not by volume of posts necessarily, but by the nature of your previous connections with the club. You've pointed out above, so you must know that most posters here know your history. Because of that a lot of people take note of what you post. The picture I have built up over the last couple of years from your posts has been one of caution regarding the current regime. Maybe you know more about NC than the rest of us. Maybe you have contacts that feed you information about NC and the way the club is run (I'd be pretty confident that you do, but clearly I don't know for sure). So when you then post a link suggesting that NC is a nightmare to deal with, and then follow it up by 'hey, just saying, don't shoot the messenger', I think you're being a bit disingenuous - it seems to fit in with what I've read in the past, and it looks like it wasn't just me who thought that.

Reading your reply above seems to think that you believe that this is a valid point to criticise NC on. Are you privy to any further information that backs this up? Having read your posts about your previous union role, I would have thought that you would understand that there are two sides to every story. Maybe we were difficult to deal with, but what was the definition of 'difficult'? Maybe NC wasn't going to pay over the odds for a player, but Reading were. Does that make us 'difficult'?

I have no agenda - what does that mean on a football fan forum anyway? I've been a season ticket holder since 1989, and go to all home and some away games. I'm just an ordinary fan, no more no less.

Duncan, the mere sight of Fitzhugh Fella on here has some on here spitting out venom like a viper. It is a great pity that only some of us on the site, know you for the really top

guy you really are.

Don't be such a chump.

I don't know FF, other than what I read in his posts. He's probably a great guy. My friends are great guys, but it doesn't mean I have to agree with everything that they say.

Chin Strain to be fair you were making accusations about me on the previous page ie having an axe to grind against NC and accusing me having having a swipe at him etc etc, which was based on the simple fact that I posted a direct quote by Neil Warnock that was in the Echo. Your response is almost as if you took it personally. That I can't fathom.

However you seem a reasonable sort of guy. Yes you are right, I have my views and I hear things from people I respect. A lot I would not want to repeat on here.

I find a lot of Saints fans incredibly blinkered when it comes to seeing or reading criticism about their club and on here these days you simply cannot be seen to say anything negative about the way our club is run. Why? I don't really know, it is almost sacrilege but it is not very healthy. There is nothing wrong with good honest criticism and for that to take place both sides of the story needs to be told. We don't often hear the club's side because they choose not to reveal it but I was merely presenting Warnock's view. Like I said he is an arse but it is his side of things and as such has a modicum of interest, imo.

FF is a decent bloke a Saints supporter through and through but was only posting something which I for one was not aware of that is the the purpose of a forum.

It is not to praise every action of the club and its management

FF, it did appear that you had an axe to grind - if you say you don't that you don't, then that's fine by me. I'm certainly not taking it personally. The opinion that I've formed by reading your posts on the forum over the last 2 years is that you're not entirely convinced by NC, which is absolutely fine by me too. As you say, you hear more about the inner workings of the club than most on here (if not all), and that may come from people who have an axe to grind (I have no idea). Given the picture of your views that I've built up, it seemed like you were being slightly opportunistic in posting Warnocks comments, as they fit with your view. It appeared to be a cheap shot given your views, but I certainly don't have an issue with any sort of criticism.

For me, NC does good things and bad things - based on a view from outside and no knowledge of the inner workings. The pictures fiasco was a mess, and the car parking charges would seem to be slightly strange. However, I'm a football fan, and the club's doing well. I think NC is learning about the game, and has kept a low profile over the last 12 months. He seems to let NA get on with it.

Regarding Warnocks comments I don't know specifically what he's on about because he hasn't expanded to give any details. Maybe we won't pay over the odds for players, or wages. Maybe agents fees are causing issues. Maybe it's because the players wouldn't fit in with the team ethic and togetherness at the club. I get the impression that this is a major factor for NA.

WTF have you done!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You do realise the sanctimonious possee will soon be out in force slaughtering you over the use of such an offensive analogy!!!!!

Comparing Warnock with Hitler, and low and behold, comparing Cortese with Stalin.

(PS Godwin's Law is invoked)

It's an awful analogy. He has them the wrong way round.

What I find interesting is that people who are applauding NC for his 'prudence' and not being held to ransom for a player are the very same people who cried foul when Rupert Lowe did the same!!

Sometimes I even find myself among them, shamefully. I have always been and remain a 'big name player' fan.

A genuine question - what is the difference in ambition or plans between Lowe and NC??

And just because we are successful now under NC/NA, were we not equally as successful under RL/WGS...

FF if the club has earned 50k then i suggest you have not done badly. I assume it is from books about Saints and so the best place to sell them is at a Saints shop. A good bit of business both sides.

Lowe didn't have the ambition for us to improve on our FA cup final season. Mid-table comfort was the limit of his aspirations.

There are some similarities between RL and NC in they support the youth and sit on the innovative side of the fence. Just because people hate Lowe and love Cortese- they don't have to be polar opposites in every possible way. They're both men for a start!

I think you mean an Italian toff is more acceptable than a Gloucestershire toff... ;)

The main difference is that Lowe never generated any money, and very nearly ruined us. NEVER ever did he attract even £1 of INVESTMENT

We are now Owned by the Leibherrs and run on their behalf by Mr Cortese

The difference in how we are run now compared to Lowelife is MASSIVE

but it is not. We are being run as a commercial operation and many of the decisions are Lowelike, business first.

The Liebherrs dont need investment, money is not a problem for them.I am happier to have them own the club than the Askhams/Lowes of the world.

We are a professional club and in time I hope will be the model other clubs look at. I feel fans are starting to feel sick of the way football is going and starting to vote with their feet in the PL, in time the clubs will have to run like businesses (excet for the clubs with billionaire owners who are happy to fund them)

Don't forget the Main difference ..........

Lowe NEVER attracted Investment, and therefore was very limited in what he "spent"

The Leibherrs don't have that problem, and HAVE invested in the TEAM

No Brainer really
