He wouldnt tell me...just said to keep an eye out, his son does work at the club though. Sorry but thats all i know.

Cheers for sharing though.

FWIW he's a good player, young too and left sided...

If true, Robinson is aged 29,no experience of promotion to the Premiership, and little time on his side to develop if we get there.Isn't this why we are said not to have pursued Gorkss ?

Thought he was younger than that. Oh well.

Coz he's proper captain fantastic material and the 'wall have been some of the tightest bast**ds we've played (3rd best defensive record last season). I like Gorkss calmness but Robinson would give us some old-fashioned aggression and leadership.

In saying that about his age and previous experience etc, rememember that Matt Elliott only got into top division football late in his career (although possibly a bit younger than 29) when he joined Leicester. At the time I questioned if he would be agood signing as Souness was chasing him.Just goes to show that we can not write off a player due to age etc if they don't fit in with the blueprint.

OK I'm convinced,lets sign him.

Wouldn't be hugely impressed with that but it does seem there are few decent centre backs around. I can't think of many potential targets and Gorkks/Fontaine weren't getting people that excited.

I'm struggling to think of too many matching our criteria, and would not be surprised if we pulled one out of Europe that none of us have heard of.*

*what is Zoltan Liptak up to these days ?

misread Adriansfc's post.

I think Paul is a one-club man, been at Millwall all his professional career and can't see him leaving any time soon. He would be a good signing though, maybe not Prem level but certainly very handy in this division. A stop-gap really.

Nigel clearly thinks Bart isn't a good enough back up then, I feel for the lad. Kalvin may also lose his place if this deal comes off.

You think buying a centre back from Millwall means that Bialkowski "isn't good enough back up" and Davis "may lose his place"?

You are confusing him with the Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper! ;)

And I think you too are confused. Quite why we are after a former Australian soapstar I do not know. NA out!

From a mate.

Looks like your "mate" has been reading http://www.football-rumours.co.uk

As at 1:09pm today (5 hours before you started this thread) someone posted this...

Southampton are to turn their attention to Millwall centre half, Paul Robinson, who is no longer interesting Reading following the purchase of Kaspers Gorkss.

I reckon because Reading were after him but signed Gorkss, and we were looking at Gorkss, someone has put 2 & 2 together and made 437.

Can't believe people don't think he's good enough. He's a former England international with plenty of top flight experience. Could pave the way for Forecast to make a permanent move away from the club???

Anyone who has made the transition from goalkeeper to central defender shows a work ethic that we need IMO. Sign him up.

lol! :) I actually had a dream we signed robinson from Blackburn!

Why r u so bothered about where it came from?

Umm...possibly to gauge how plausible the rumour is.

Eg. Heard it from a personal friend who is a football agent.

Overheard it in a pub

I suppose you never question anything you hear.

Kevin Moore I believe was 30 when he joined us to play in the top division for the first time.
