influx Posted 25 August, 2011 Posted 25 August, 2011 Just heard this, not sure if there are any legs in it though.
shurlock Posted 25 August, 2011 Posted 25 August, 2011 Weren't reading after him - guess they've got gorkss now.
S-Clarke Posted 25 August, 2011 Posted 25 August, 2011 Was linked with Reading a week or so ago, think they had a bid rejected.

Matthew Le God Posted 25 August, 2011 Posted 25 August, 2011 From a mate. You are still being extremely vague. How does he claim to know?
influx Posted 25 August, 2011 Author Posted 25 August, 2011 He wouldnt tell me...just said to keep an eye out, his son does work at the club though. Sorry but thats all i know.
S-Clarke Posted 25 August, 2011 Posted 25 August, 2011 He wouldnt tell me...just said to keep an eye out, his son does work at the club though. Sorry but thats all i know. Cheers for sharing though. FWIW he's a good player, young too and left sided...
derry Posted 25 August, 2011 Posted 25 August, 2011 Throw punch into the deal. That's called lateral thinking, worth a punt.
Turkish Posted 25 August, 2011 Posted 25 August, 2011 another one in about 9 pages time we can consign to the b*llocks file then.
Badger Posted 25 August, 2011 Posted 25 August, 2011 If true, Robinson is aged 29,no experience of promotion to the Premiership, and little time on his side to develop if we get there.Isn't this why we are said not to have pursued Gorkss ?
Tokyo-Saint Posted 25 August, 2011 Posted 25 August, 2011 He wouldnt tell me...just said to keep an eye out, his son does work at the club though. Sorry but thats all i know. Can you please post mate's name address and contact telephone number for MLG to verify. Much appreciated!
Stepgar Posted 25 August, 2011 Posted 25 August, 2011 another one in about 9 pages time we can consign to the b*llocks file then. Agreed - probably

Coz he's proper captain fantastic material and the 'wall have been some of the tightest bast**ds we've played (3rd best defensive record last season). I like Gorkss calmness but Robinson would give us some old-fashioned aggression and leadership. Edited 25 August, 2011 by shurlock
Badger Posted 25 August, 2011 Posted 25 August, 2011 Thought he was younger than that. Oh well. In saying that about his age and previous experience etc, rememember that Matt Elliott only got into top division football late in his career (although possibly a bit younger than 29) when he joined Leicester. At the time I questioned if he would be agood signing as Souness was chasing him.Just goes to show that we can not write off a player due to age etc if they don't fit in with the blueprint.

I like Gorkss calmness but Robinson would give us some old-fashioned aggression and leadership. OK I'm convinced, lets sign him. Wouldn't be hugely impressed with that but it does seem there are few decent centre backs around. I can't think of many potential targets and Gorkks/Fontaine weren't getting people that excited. I'm struggling to think of too many matching our criteria, and would not be surprised if we pulled one out of Europe that none of us have heard of.* *what is Zoltan Liptak up to these days ? Edited 25 August, 2011 by Badger misread Adriansfc's post.
SuperMikey Posted 25 August, 2011 Posted 25 August, 2011 I think Paul is a one-club man, been at Millwall all his professional career and can't see him leaving any time soon. He would be a good signing though, maybe not Prem level but certainly very handy in this division. A stop-gap really.
Junction 9 Posted 25 August, 2011 Posted 25 August, 2011 Nigel clearly thinks Bart isn't a good enough back up then, I feel for the lad. Kalvin may also lose his place if this deal comes off.
Matthew Le God Posted 25 August, 2011 Posted 25 August, 2011 Nigel clearly thinks Bart isn't a good enough back up then, I feel for the lad. Kalvin may also lose his place if this deal comes off. You think buying a centre back from Millwall means that Bialkowski "isn't good enough back up" and Davis "may lose his place"? You are confusing him with the Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper!
supersonic Posted 25 August, 2011 Posted 25 August, 2011 Throw punch into the deal. Millwall would accept that, they've been throwing punches into many deals for years
Badger Posted 25 August, 2011 Posted 25 August, 2011 Are we sure we're not trying to sign that d!ck Tony Robinson from the Time Team ? Saxon ruins under St Mary's and all that.
stmusicdude Posted 25 August, 2011 Posted 25 August, 2011 Can you please post mate's name address and contact telephone number for MLG to verify. Much appreciated! LOL love it!
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 25 August, 2011 Posted 25 August, 2011 Has Skacel signed yet? Mods, infraction please.
Alain Perrin Posted 25 August, 2011 Posted 25 August, 2011 You think buying a centre back from Millwall means that Bialkowski "isn't good enough back up" and Davis "may lose his place"? You are confusing him with the Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper! And I think you too are confused. Quite why we are after a former Australian soapstar I do not know. NA out!
VectisSaint Posted 25 August, 2011 Posted 25 August, 2011 Has Skacel signed yet? Apparently we aren't allowed to make this joke any longer, the humour police do not consider it fair game any longer.
skintsaint Posted 25 August, 2011 Posted 25 August, 2011 You are confusing him with the Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper! I dont think he has.
Matthew Le God Posted 25 August, 2011 Posted 25 August, 2011 (edited) From a mate. Looks like your "mate" has been reading http://www.football-rumours.co.uk As at 1:09pm today (5 hours before you started this thread) someone posted this... 25 Aug 2011 13:09:10 Southampton are to turn their attention to Millwall centre half, Paul Robinson, who is no longer interesting Reading following the purchase of Kaspers Gorkss. CanadaSaint Posted 25 August, 2011 Posted 25 August, 2011 Am I the only one who doesn't know what the hell is happening on this thread?
S-Clarke Posted 25 August, 2011 Posted 25 August, 2011 Am I the only one who doesn't know what the hell is happening on this thread? It's been MLG'd
Whitey Posted 25 August, 2011 Posted 25 August, 2011 I reckon because Reading were after him but signed Gorkss, and we were looking at Gorkss, someone has put 2 & 2 together and made 437.
saintscottofthenortham Posted 25 August, 2011 Posted 25 August, 2011 I reckon because Reading were after him but signed Gorkss, and we were looking at Gorkss, someone has put 2 & 2 together and made 437. MLG will be along again in a minute. FFS.
SuperSAINT Posted 25 August, 2011 Posted 25 August, 2011 I love how a large percentage of MLG's posts are edited by him after he posts... It's brilliant how he's pedantic with himself!
jawillwill Posted 25 August, 2011 Posted 25 August, 2011 Can't believe people don't think he's good enough. He's a former England international with plenty of top flight experience. Could pave the way for Forecast to make a permanent move away from the club???
Cascadia Saint Posted 25 August, 2011 Posted 25 August, 2011 Anyone who has made the transition from goalkeeper to central defender shows a work ethic that we need IMO. Sign him up.
Crab Lungs Posted 25 August, 2011 Posted 25 August, 2011 Let's right him off before he signs. Good idea, that's worked for all the other players who were criticised. :-/
Mattio Posted 25 August, 2011 Posted 25 August, 2011 Anyone who has made the transition from goalkeeper to central defender shows a work ethic that we need IMO. Sign him up. lol! I actually had a dream we signed robinson from Blackburn!
Huntingdon Posted 25 August, 2011 Posted 25 August, 2011 We are starting to sound a bit desperate now I think NC & NA are possibly regretting not tying up the deals for Jemal and Gorkss
modern matron Posted 25 August, 2011 Posted 25 August, 2011 And your mate heard it from... Why r u so bothered about where it came from?
Saint Posted 25 August, 2011 Posted 25 August, 2011 Why r u so bothered about where it came from? Umm...possibly to gauge how plausible the rumour is. Eg. Heard it from a personal friend who is a football agent. Overheard it in a pub I suppose you never question anything you hear.
suewhistle Posted 25 August, 2011 Posted 25 August, 2011 In saying that about his age and previous experience etc, rememember that Matt Elliott only got into top division football late in his career (although possibly a bit younger than 29) when he joined Leicester. At the time I questioned if he would be agood signing as Souness was chasing him.Just goes to show that we can not write off a player due to age etc if they don't fit in with the blueprint. Kevin Moore I believe was 30 when he joined us to play in the top division for the first time.
ericofarabia Posted 25 August, 2011 Posted 25 August, 2011 or was this another Robinson ..... Sorry getting confused with all this Robinson/Baldock chat!!
