paulwantsapint Posted 23 August, 2011 Share Posted 23 August, 2011 With about 6 weeks left till his court case will we see barney play before then? Or will club claim his injury isn't healing to give him time to prepare his defence? Is npc loan window the same as L1 in that it is open till nov? which would allow for a barney replacement if the court sends him down
Mattio Posted 23 August, 2011 Share Posted 23 August, 2011 As long as no strikers get injured or fatigued will we need him on the next 6 weeks? I know he can make a massive impact but if being "injured" means he is saving himself from 6-12 months behind bars then its worth it!
Saint Fan CaM Posted 23 August, 2011 Share Posted 23 August, 2011 Looks like we'll be off-loading Lee before the end of the window. What with Bentner coming in and all. (;
locksheathsaint101 Posted 23 August, 2011 Share Posted 23 August, 2011 Did he sign a new contract recently? I thought he did. Seems odd to offer him one with the possibility of him still to go down...
hypochondriac Posted 23 August, 2011 Share Posted 23 August, 2011 Did he sign a new contract recently? I thought he did. Seems odd to offer him one with the possibility of him still to go down... Not really Tom. The contract will have a clause in allowing it to be null and void if he is found guilty. Should he be cleared then we have him on a nice long contract. It's a win win

Victor Posted 24 August, 2011 Share Posted 24 August, 2011 Errrrr, I highly doubt there's anything in the contract... It's either fired for Gross Misconduct or failing to turn up to work. Errrrrrrrrr, I highly suspect there would be a condition in the contract. 'Gross misconduct' would have to relate to behaviour at work unless there was a condition regarding out of work misdemeanors, and being jailed is hardly 'failing to turn up to work' - he would have a reasonable excuse! Dalek2003 Posted 24 August, 2011 Share Posted 24 August, 2011 At worst he will get 3 months, but I think he will end up with a suspended sentance, large fine and community service. This is the most likely scenario. He probably does have a clause in contract that allows for dismissal for gross misconduct or bringing the club into disrepute. It is up to the club to use this. I suppose it depends on how much they want him, I suggest will keep him on and the club will give him a very severe written warning !

Any normal member of the public would get a fine, 2 year suspended sentance and community service. They do tend to go harder on those in the public eye though (unless you're Steven Gerrard)

Of course we're all interested in Barnard's future, but I do think that all this conjecture about his future should really be " put on ice " for a while. He can't play anyway because of injury, and anyone trying to out-think the jury (if there is one), or the judge is really " out of court" - no pun intended. I think (YOU MODS) should seriously consider leaving this until we know the outcome of his issue with the judiciary. A negative decision won't only affect his playing career, but likely the rest of his life. LEAVE THE GUY IN PEACE ..Suggest this thread be closed...at least until his case is settled. Cant see why, it is after all human nature to speculate, Im sure that plenty of people are discussing Gadaffi's future despite the fact it hasnt occured yet. Quite a few people are speculating about the outcome of the Leciester game. Nothing wrong with a little bit of online conjecture provided it remains within the realm of good taste. Quite a few people are speculating about the outcome of the Leciester game. Nothing wrong with a little bit of online conjecture provided it remains within the realm of good taste. Sorry , I couldn't see where the " good taste " part started and ended ! but the last time I looked ...that ***** GADDAFI wasn't on the Saints books and quite frankly ...I don't give a tinker's cuss about his future. Lee Barnard (guilty or not) is a Saints player and I am more concerned about his future. It's difficult to speculate about his future ..nor should we. Those with longer memories will recall the furour that surrounded the year long wait that Dave Jones had..when managing Saints inthe late 1990's and awaiting trial .. .on a ridiculous charge that the judge finally threw out in 30 minutes. I still think we should refrain from comment and rumour about Lee Barnard as he is (1) presently injured and unable to play and (2) innocent until proven otherwise ! I say again ..leave the guy in peace until situations (1) and (2) have been resolved. There must be some other tidbit of gossip that people can gloat over instead of harranging a good player. shurlock Posted 27 August, 2011 Share Posted 27 August, 2011 Bumping this one - first time in a while but I think we missed Barny today. PinkScarf Posted 28 August, 2011 Share Posted 28 August, 2011 Where is Pink Scarf when you need her?? I miss her considered take on the LB situation. I went to the game yesterday with the girls and was with the other 2700 Supporters and all we wanted to know was where was Barney ??????? Barney is really good at Away games and he a battler. He would have been good at keeping the score-line down and we would have at least got the draw. He must make an appearance vs Swindon. We have not forgotten you Barney !!! Please - Nigel - play Barney.
Professor Posted 28 August, 2011 Share Posted 28 August, 2011 If the injury is just a line by the club to cover why LB is not playing, his behaviour leading to his arrest has cost the club a lot of money. There's no disputing he was involved in violence as he carried the hand injury for so long but only the trial will tell us the degree of his fault. If he is guilty, there may be people at the club who won't want to see him in a Saints shirt again. The various bids for a striker when we already have 3 and Guly could mean that the club don't think he'll be playing here again.
