According to reports in the Hull Daily Mail, Leicester City striker Martyn Waghorn would favour a move to Hull City over Southampton after the Foxes gave him permission to leave the club before the transfer window closes.

" no one likes us, we don't care.."

Putting his preference for Hull in context though, it would reunite him with Nigel Pearson, who so far is the only manager to show confidence in Waghorn during his career, and it is nearer Sunderland his home town.

Fourth_Official:

Derby and Southampton are both keen on Martyn Waghorn with the latter leading the race so far #Saintsfc #LCFC #DCFC

21 year old Leicester City Forward.

30 apps, 4 Goals.

Good! Should help destabilise the Foxes today.

There's a few clubs on the radar, don't know how true it is that we're involved. People say 4th official is usually pretty reliable. For me, a young striker is key, we don't have any bar Doble and it's unsure if he'll ever make the grade. I don't know much about Waghorn, but for me, if we were to take anyone off Leicester, I'd like that Schlupp bloke. He was very good for Brentford at the tail end of last season and is only 18.

He sounded good today.

Livid. Players rejecting personal terms is a serious lack of ambition and intent from our side.

Either that or he wants silly money.

he may not want silly money, what he probably wants is salary parity with our best paid player, who wants to be paid more than anyone else etc etc etc .The personal terms issue has cropped up a number of times this summer apparently, it can only be a salary parity/no-one gets as much as me catch 22 situation,Agents know what everybody makes at a club, secret squirrel politics or no.

Considering he would be getting plucked from another teams substitutes bench, asking to be paid on par with Lallana, Cork etc would be asking for silly money.

**** him, if he doesn't want to be here then I for one don't want him here. There are better options out there, even if we don't sign someone by Wednesday there is always the loan window.

In Nigel I trust !

Or he wanted to play under a manager he knows and played well under before.

This. If anything we were no more than a useful bargaining tool to maximise any potential offer from Hull. Can't complain really as we have used such an approach ourselves as a club.

Shame, but you can understand his decision. Tbh I don't think a striker is a desperate priority anyway. I would be slightly concerned if we reached Friday without a new CB however.

Have to say this is the first SFC signing f**k up i'm not at all bothered about.

He looked good 2 years ago but since hasn't been that brilliant for Leicester, and the Leicester fans think that he's not all that good aswell.

I would love to know where this Fourth Official gets his info from, probably rumour sites and forums.

They (4th official is two people) follow 1000 other people and looking at them mostly journalists, sports feeds & rumour mills like his. I imagine its where he gets it all from.

everyone who can read know that we've got £12 million in the bank already, so any eventual transfer fees and salary demands are bound to be ridiculously high ! Trust Cortese to keep a level head in this situation.

you have no idea why he did not want to join us...believe it or not, more players wont want to play for saints than those who do...

I know many think we are the biggest and best club outside of the top 4...but get a grip

We need a player to improve the team and he wouldn't have IMHO.

I agree. He doesn't give us the things we miss. Someone to fill in for lambert or someone with pace.

No, you've heard on Saintsweb from hysterical morons who know very little, that he's trouble.....there is a big difference.

No, ive heard from my brother who is a leeds fan - there isnt a big difference.

Yeah, don't think you have to be a genius to have watched Beckford and not know he's a moody sulking sod... Good player who will get goals though. If he's going to play all the time he'll be fine... Otherwise he will kick up a fuss. Moyes has had to give him a couple of b0llockings @ Everton, I believe.

Yes I know and appreciate that. I think my post was made out of frustration that we have one hell of a rumour mill going round, but very little end result from it when the rumours are shown to be valid in some way. But I know filling the gaps we have in the squad isn't easy. Just frustrated that we've not done it yet.

Surely as the 4th official they should be 4 people and not 2? not suprising they add 1 piece of info to another and often make 4
