MacFad2207 Posted 22 August, 2011 Posted 22 August, 2011 Fish Mills has moved to Reading according to Fouth Official on twitter. Fourth_OfficialFourth Official Reading have signed Joseph Mills, the younger brother of Matt, from Southampton #RFC #Saintsfc

polegategavin Posted 22 August, 2011 Posted 22 August, 2011 He's like an echo of his brother Matt. Each time Matt leaves a club Joseph turns up a few months later; Doncaster Rovers and now Reading! How weird.
Big_Bald_Si Posted 22 August, 2011 Posted 22 August, 2011 A year or so ago i'd have said i'm sorry to see him go, good player, likeable lad etc. However, given our current abundance of left backs, it's good to offload one. Good luck Joseph, got the potential to do well at Reading. Hope to see you in a Reading Nandos with the other Reading players I keep seeing soon.

for_heaven's_Saint Posted 22 August, 2011 Posted 22 August, 2011 Apart from Matt Mills plays for Leicester.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 22 August, 2011 Posted 22 August, 2011 Apart from Matt Mills plays for Leicester. You're a liar
ribbo Posted 22 August, 2011 Posted 22 August, 2011 Good Luck to the lad, rate him, he'll become a good pro like his brother no doubt!
saints-cris Posted 22 August, 2011 Posted 22 August, 2011 http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2428330,00.html?utm_source=Twitter Oh well, being 4th choice or so never really gave him much chance. Good luck to him.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 22 August, 2011 Posted 22 August, 2011 You're a liar I'm sorry you had to find out this way but it's true.
Colinjb Posted 22 August, 2011 Posted 22 August, 2011 Good luck to the guy. Just didn't get a look in when we went for experience rather then potential. He did well for us at Wembley, like Paul Wotton.
doddisalegend Posted 22 August, 2011 Posted 22 August, 2011 Not a big surprise. Still wonder why he wasn't given more of a chance here. I thought he was a great understudy for Harding never understood replacing him for Dickson.
Ken Tone Posted 22 August, 2011 Posted 22 August, 2011 Not a big surprise. Still wonder why he wasn't given more of a chance here. I thought he was a great understudy for Harding never understood replacing him for Dickson. Agree. Dickson is a perfectly good player, but then so is Mills, so we didn't need Dickson as well. (cf signing Fox this year?) Always a shame to see a player from the youth side leave, especially when they are of a good standard. Fish will make it at championship level IMO.
david in sweden Posted 22 August, 2011 Posted 22 August, 2011 Also on the OS doesn't mention MONEY, though.... As an Academy product we are entitled to some re-imbursement from Reading , I think? ..and I haven't heard any news of the Tribunal's decision on the "fee" for Gobern (now Hudd'f'd). Is such info published on an FA site ..or elsewhere?
Ken Tone Posted 22 August, 2011 Posted 22 August, 2011 Can I just ask, why "Fish"? Family name for him. Mis-pronounced Joseph as 'Fish when he was little apparently.
Boris Karloff Posted 22 August, 2011 Posted 22 August, 2011 One year contract. They're not taking any chances are they?
Tokyo-Saint Posted 22 August, 2011 Posted 22 August, 2011 Can I just ask, why "Fish"? Matt couldn't say Joseph when he was younger, he said Joe-fish. He therefore has the nickname fish.
Minsk Posted 22 August, 2011 Posted 22 August, 2011 I thought he showed good potential a couple of years back. Good luck to him, except when playing against us of course.
Colinjb Posted 22 August, 2011 Posted 22 August, 2011 How much is the fish? Oh god I havn't heard that track for ages.
LostBoys Posted 22 August, 2011 Posted 22 August, 2011 I wish him all the best for the future. I never actually rated him as a player but felt he deserved a chance as he was always going to be in his brothers shadow. He may get it elsewhere.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 22 August, 2011 Posted 22 August, 2011 Learnt his trade - got a good salary - every chance of breaking into Reading's team I would think. Next.
saintjay77 Posted 22 August, 2011 Posted 22 August, 2011 Oh god I havn't heard that track for ages. haha. class tunage for the completly mental. lol Makes me smile anyway
CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 22 August, 2011 Posted 22 August, 2011 I've always said that this lad had potential, and I have to say it's a great shame we'll have to see whether that early promise ever gets fulfilled, or not, from afar.
um pahars Posted 22 August, 2011 Posted 22 August, 2011 Never really rated him, but others obviously did for him to be kept on the books and also brought in as a loanee by others. More than happy to accept Adkins' judgement on him.
Chez Posted 22 August, 2011 Posted 22 August, 2011 it's not going to be much of a fee if they've only given him a one year contract.
Dimond Geezer Posted 22 August, 2011 Posted 22 August, 2011 Bit of a shame, as he showed a lot of promise, but he was never going to get past the 3 in front of him. I wish him well for the future, and I'm sure he will do well.
sammysaint Posted 22 August, 2011 Posted 22 August, 2011 Sad to see a player still with potential to play for top teams in this league go, if he plays regular for Reading he will get recognised as a good left back for Championship teams.
hutch Posted 23 August, 2011 Posted 23 August, 2011 At least he hasn't gone to a promotion rival Good player for us when he had his chances. Good luck to him, I'm sure he'll do OK.
david in sweden Posted 23 August, 2011 Posted 23 August, 2011 Fish Mills has moved to Reading according to Fouth Official on twitter. Fourth_OfficialFourth Official Reading have signed Joseph Mills, the younger brother of Matt, from Southampton #RFC #Saintsfc I think all of the Mills Brothers (four of them?) had been juniors on our books in the past, and none of them ever managed to break into the first team and eventually left. It's hard luck on Joseph because he certainly has talent but not enough experience to " experiment " with this season I hope he does well at Reading ..as long as it's not against us .
