FFS Dalek - no one is denying that Hoddle is a good coach - or that it MIGHT have been better to reappoint him' date=' but thats is HISTORY and all things have changed since then. From where I am sitting NA seems to have his own ideas and the results suggest they are working rather well ![/quote']

I'm not for one moment suggesting that we re-appoint Hoddle, that time has come and gone and as you rightly say it is history. However, the understanding of what happened to the club after the failure to re-appoint Hoddle is an important part of SFC History. It is important to know the causes of this decision and understand the consequences so that a similar mistake is not made again. This is one reason why history is important.

There are, unfortunately, some people (including) fans that would like the whole episode swept under the carpet. This is most likely because of their embarrassment or having played a major part in the downfall of the club from premier league to league 1.

More or less agree and our lack of key signings will be crucial in the end. Stand by my prediction of 17th.

I really cannot have someone who is still banging on about Hoddle agreeing with me so please retract your comment. Ta.

What a bad tempered, intolerant, fred.

If Charlie Weyman and Dalek for instance care to hold differing views to that held by the majority then they're perfectly within their rights to express themselves without receiving a torrent of abuse in return. I was there and in all honesty we did kinda 'run out of steam' on Saturday didn't we? If someone thinks we might finish the season in 17th place then I would reply that I hope (And believe) we can do much better than that. But he could be right I suppose - certainty is the mother of fools I'm reliably informed.

So calm down dears - saying any of this doesn't equate to heresy.

It amazes me that dalek continues to get as many replies as he does. I started totally ignoring his posts about twelve months ago. I'm not sure why others don't do the same.

When it comes to his constant rhetoric about all things Hoddle I do the same, as his argument is as thoroughly boring as it is ill thought out. Originally I hadn't realised that same undercurrent of banality existed throughout the rest of his posts; you soon learn though.

He doesn't really believe what he writes anyway. He posts purely to get a reaction (and has admitted as much in the past.) Just ignore it.

Wrong. I passionately believe that the failure to re-appoint Hoddle was the root cause of our decline. There is a lot that went on at this time and there is a murky scene under that stone that will one day be revealed !

I have ignored a few people at times, even your good self hypo, but ultimately I miss the madness that comes with diversity of opinion.

Something you promised never to mention again about three years ago. You are a WUM.

Lets be honest Dalek, you only post on this forum to get a reaction out of people. Yes...it may have been a better to reappoint hoddle whenever it was that we were supposed to reappoint him....but at the end of the day, WE DIDN'T!! We now have a different ownership, a whole new management team, a whole new squad, yes we had dark days but they are IN THE PAST. leave them where they are. They're not important now, what is important is the future and the way the club is run from now on. You are a complete wind up merchant who comes on here saying ridiculous things to get a reaction.

It doesn't matter either way. He has said it hundreds of times over the years and people know his thoughts on the matter. He admitted over three years ago that he just said it because he was on a wind up to irritate people and that he would not mention it again. The fact that he still does is such an obvious wind up (as is the insistence that we will be around the relegation zone- I'm not sure why everyone keeps responding with insults.) Just ignore him and he will stop doing it so much.

Wrong..it was when your love god walked out on us....still you have been proven wrong over and over again about the cause.

Are you really a teacher?

Ignore the past at your peril. Just because things have changed does not mean we can ignore the unhappier episodes of the past. It might be that some would like the past to be forgotten because they find their own role in it rather uncomfortable.

Or it might me that you are massively tedious, as well as being abjectly dull and incorrect.

I think some of us are getting a bit carried away after what can only be judged as a promising start. League titles are not won in August! What will be interesting is how we react after a defeat or two. My initial prediction this season was 8th and competing for the play offs. I do not see why I should change that yet. 10 games in things may be different!

true, but the thread title refers to whether we're sending out a marker, not to whether we're going to win the league....after 4 games, we're unbeaten, playing attractive football, are top of the table, and are winning plaudits for our style of play and attitude towards the game from neutrals and opponents alike.... by these tenets, we are indeed laying down a marker.....I'm not presuming for one second that we are going to win this league, but so far, so good, and a lot of things in this club seem to be going right.....after all we've endured in the last 5 years, where is the harm in enjoying the moment??
