how on earth do you know it was burnley and blackpool bidding for cork....did you know that ipswich tried to get lambert a few weeks/months back...?

im sure many clubs bid for players and the public never find out

He used him as an example of a player who was linked to various clubs. he was linked to those two and I saw no links to clubs of a higher standing than ourselves.

It seems Gold/O'Sullivan are putting in about £3m a month shoring up the finances and need to sell Parker to Tottenham to help the finances. Allardyce has never seemed to be too bothered about spending money and paying ridiculous salaries (Nolan). It wouldn't surprise me to see salary being the clincher as WHU seem to have no structure. Looks like another Pompey saga in the pipeline.

Hearing rumours that Dickson may part of the Baldock deal. Anyone else heard this?

This is Dickson's last entry on twitter:

"Appreciate the support guys!! We will have to see what happens #crazygame"

Their skipper Lewington is a left back. Rumour has it on loan to Rochdale.

If they take Dickson too it will be deal of the season...

This is getting stupid. We never seem to be able to get our targets lately. I dont think west ham our a bigger club just prob have more money at the mo. Considering we sold chambo we should have loads tho.

Sorry anyone who thinks Saints are bigger club than WHU needs their head checking.

baldock would be a cracking signing

Highly rated, and currently considered a good prospect , but why is he considered such a good potential signing ? I did not see anything remarkable last season at St Mary's despite his goal.

I'm not doubting your opinion btw, just intrigued as to what he offers, at 5'7" he certainly won't be challenging RL for a place, but joining several who might partner him up front.

From a MKDons forum

Looks like he has gone to West Ham. Good luck, hope he does well. Be playing along side an old school mate of mine in Jack Collison. Could be playing in the Premiership next year aswell. Great move!

They also say Baldock's 18 year old brother George is the better player. Mebbe we should have a second look around.

Hurry up and sign a striker Atkins! Lambert and DC & and Barnard alone can't get us the goals for promotion.

Yea! We can't rely on Lambert and DC and Barnard and Guly and Lallana and also possibly Hammond and Chaplow and De Ridder to get us goals for promotion can we!?

Don't be silly!! Only strikers are allowed to score goals. Surely you know this?

To be fair, very hacked off now!! Waghorn, not wanted by another club won't cut it for me!! Faith in club, but not sure we are putting our money where our mouth is!

Mixed feelings for me. Would have loved Baldock, but if the rumours are true and West Ham doubled our wage offer, what are we supposed to do? I like that our club is run with better financial responsibility these days. I don't think West Ham are....

No point overspending on a player who currently would compliment rather then directly improve on what we have. Would be extremely dissapointing to miss out on Baldock though, especially as he looks to have a bright future.

apparently WHU have doubled our wage offer!

Typical.

Rumour that #whufc offered double the wages #saintsfc did for Baldock...

Sorry JustMike- looks like your info got leaked.

He's made his choice, we move on.

If the club want to compete with the West Hams of this league who are willing to risk going into admin or worse by spending their way to promotion, we'd have to start throwing about silly wages and it's just not worth it. Especially when it comes to unproven players like Baldock.

Not necessarily only "Financial Priudence" We have a happy squad, all signed on contracts that they are also happy with. That will be our great base to build on this season.

Start bringing in outsiders to better the team they'll be happy. Start bringing outsiders in who are on Double The Money but "haven't proven their worth at THAT level yet" - recipe for dissent and disaster.

The team will all be working together to earn PL level wages, bring in some "Johnny Come Lately" who's already on them - no thanks

Never underestimate the Mental Side of football (and that includes other bankrupt (ish) clubs doubling our wage offers)

I don't understand why people think buying footballers is any different to buying any other commodity? One has a value in mind, maybe try and get it for a little less. If not, one goes up to that valuation but if that is not enough to get the product, you go elsewhere. Doing business any other way is extremely irresponsible, whether one has sh!t loads of money in the bank or working to a strict budget.

Im still not convinced a striker is what we really need. especially if its going to cost us an arm and a leg. I would rather put all my focus into bringing a decent CB in.

I don't see why these are mutually exclusive. I'm sure NA isn't naive enough to not bring in both. This is visible by the fact we've been interested in Gorkss, Jemal, Fontaine.....and Maynard, Rodriguez, Baldock. Atleast we have a manager who is targetting the areas which need strengthening rather than having someone like Burley in charge who loved midfielders and then playing them at full back !!!
