Dr Who? Posted 20 August, 2011 Share Posted 20 August, 2011 What is it with the tatters on TV and radio this season saying 'he barely touched him' or 'only slight contact' when it comes to the giving of free kicks. Now my understanding is that if you foul someone it is a free kick no matter how much contact there is?
Whitey Grandad Posted 20 August, 2011 Share Posted 20 August, 2011 The wording in the Laws is 'trip or attempt to trip' so there does not have to be contact for it to be a foul.

Smirking_Saint Posted 21 August, 2011 Share Posted 21 August, 2011 The same as the old (in the box) 'It probably was a foul, but doesn't deserve a penalty' No, its a foul in the box, and so, it does deserve a f*cking penalty.

Dr Who? Posted 21 August, 2011 Author Share Posted 21 August, 2011 Yes but contact doesn't automatically mean a foul. If you trip someone up it is a foul, if you only just touch them or completely take them out, it does not matter. Tripping is a foul and a free kick.
