Including SFC Steward Slapping a Fan (Video of Post-Match)

Well I wasn't there but I am embarrassed by some of the actions by our fans also. Certainly didn't seem to just walk away from it did they. If anything antagonised the Millwall faithful even more. I didn't even hear the Millwall fans.

As for the woman - what was she thinking? Deserves everything she gets. You could even hear the slap!

Unprofessional yes, but when you know the facts it makes it all seem a little less 'shocking' ........the guy was actually her brother-in-law, who had been mouthing off at and insulting her colleagues...she just "put him back in his place" that's all....;)

That will make for some interesting family gatherings!

A little slap by someone in authority is what this country is missing. When a teacher hit me my mum was called in to school and told them to hit me again if I was out of order, didn't do me any harm. Judging by the blokes reaction he took it too, so possibly he knew he was out of order.

Bring back the cane!!!

The line was clear in the sand, you crossed it you knew what you would get: fair enough.

Like you say if he took it knowing he was bang out of order: case closed.

stewards have no authority. they are there to show you to your seat, make sure you don't stray into areas you shouldn't and basically point out toilets, exits and general safety points. they have absolutely no authority whatsoever. sadly they seem to have gotten well above their station over the recent years. unfortunately this poor, over excited woman has been caught on video committing common assault. sorry, but she should be sacked.

what time in the video did it happen?

For pity's sake Stanley, keep up. The time of the 'offence' was stated in the original post.

One minute and thirty seconds if translation from the Arabic numbering system is beyond you.

yet who are the ones who go in to dangerous situations, guarding the safety of yourself and other supporters with nothing more than an orange coat for protection???

i don't really understand your point or it's relevance to this thread?

Leave her alone for goodness sake. One minute having hissy fits over our glorious leader being on the front of the programme next damning one of our stewards for a little slap. What a bunch of bed-wetters some of our fans are.

Whatever was said at around 1:30, that lady is in SFC uniform and should be professional when working for the club. Slapping a fan is unacceptable, and she should be sacked.

I think some people warrant a good slap, he was being a ****, he got slapped, whats the issue. The problem with todays society is that people in authority are too afraid to dish out a slap. He deserved it most likely so fook him !

why should she be sacked...???

It's clear why she should. I hope she isn't though and this issue stays below the radar. There can be no room for grey areas when it comes to stewarding. If it'd been a man hitting a man or a man hitting a woman there would be no discussion.

what you didnt see was what happened before. The guy she slapped is a member of her family, he was with a foul mouthed woman and 2 other guys (all family) they had set upon her, and the guy she slapped and slapped her first. Not condoning it but suggest people maybe too quick to point the finger

If people weren't dickheads, there wouldn't be a need for the kind of stwearding you have a problem with. I bet you'd be the first to complain if one of your Green Street buddies was arrested/lost their job for a weak slap like that.

I am all for a bit of banter, but I don't get the arms aloft, "come and get some" kind of thing that you see in this video - not least when it's behind a cordon of yellow jackets.

Fundamentally it's notthat the stewards have no authority, it's that ****s like those on the camera have no respect.

why should she be sacked...???

The moment she puts on the stewards vest she represents Southampton FC. There is now a video online which will no doubt be picked up on by numerous other clubs fans that makes our club look bad, undermines the hard work stewards do and will give those who visit St.Marys a bad impression of these stewards before they have even entered the stadium. Stewards are already seen as the enemy to some fans, having a video like this really doesn't help that.

If the person she slapped was a member of her family, that lessens the offence. Does it say that in the video though? Does the video make it 100% clear that this is a family dispute? Will rival fans or those critical of the club know this? No. So all that is left is a representative of our club slapping somebody on camera during unrest between fans.

That's why I think she should be sacked. Think back to what happened on this forum when Forecast was rumoured to have smacked somebody in public, he was hated here for it... thank goodness that wasn't on camera, published by our own fans on YouTube.

Oh and for what its worth, I too believe that a bit of tough-love is what this country needs. But the rules and laws don't allow that so when you're in a position of authority, you stick within those rules and laws, a concept I'm sure you're familiar with in your trade. If the laws change and a quick slap becomes an acceptable way of handling people causing trouble, this entire debate becomes null and void.

I love the way everyone is really brave behind a line of stewards and countless police...bravo...

Yep. I'd like to see what 'sh@gger' :poundit: and his little gang would have done if there were no police around. What a bunch of gits.

(why the **** can I not spell 's h a g g e r' on here. It's not a rude word.
