Leicester build up

I'm going to head for the Swan & Rushes, on Infirmary Square. It's on the way from the station to the ground.

As this is the only suggestion so far, shall we promote this as a pub for Saints fans to head to prior to the match? Unless anyone knows of an away pub that will be better?

They're confident they'll beat us quite comfortably - still have that rich man's sense of entitlement. Would love it if we did them. Preferably we go and stifle them for the first half hour and not get too open. Thankfully, they lack pace, so it should play into our hands. Can see a score draw.

I will be there (obviosuly!) but i think we need a dose of realism here - personally I think we will do well to get a draw against a Leicester side which has cost a lot and needs to start winning. Clearly i hope we win but it won't be easy.

Leicestersaint - do you think the Swan and Rushes pub is a good shout for us away fans?

Lack of pace....apart from Danns and maybe Maynard if he does sign before the weekend. Will be worried about Danns vs Richardson and Maynard vs Seaborne

Danns is box to box but not super quick. Pace wise, the likes of nugent, king, wellens and gallagher don't particularly scare me. Vassell isn't the same player of old. Fernandes has a bit of pace and done v.well; but from what I've seen, he's been playing as a holding midfielder. Dyer might offer something off the bench; but he's erratic.

I think Richardson will more than cope with Danns. He's no slouch and did well against Gradel who's been on fire this season.

Anyone know if tix available on the day?

YES according to the Saints ticket office today. Also said we sold the first batch of 1200 a few days ago. Sounded like we have also sold a good proportion of the next batch of 800/900 but ticket office guy was not too sure. Sounds like we should be in the region of 2000. COYR

hello Andy - i don't think i have ever been in that pub so can't comment. I usually go in the Counting House before games but I woudl imagine the swan and Rushes will be fine.

Am also thinking of heading to one before the game depending on what time the coach gets in and are there any that are near the ground and that they can allow you to wear your colours in aswell!?!

Thanks!

Head to the Swan and Rushes Danny! You know it makes sense - not too far from the stadium either.

How ridiculous ! This is an open forum in which people can express opinions (within the rules of the board). To stop people speaking their minds and holding different opinions is stupid and would make for a very dull forum.

Agreed.

I think we will finish between 22nd and 24th. No higher than 19th. Unless we sign Messi.

I also think that our average attendance will be exactly 21,368.

Furthermore, I predict that Honey Monster and Tony the Tiger will burst out from their cereal packets and form our central defence before the transfer window closes.

You may disagree with this analysis, but I have a perfect right to my opinion.

You sound as if you are having some kind of break down. Furthermore your views are so extreme that I am getting very angry and I can only come to the conclusion that you are WUM. What is worse is that you will probably continue to pedal these views over the next 8 years until the Honey Monster is made our manager, despite the fact that this has had nothing to do with the vast majority of sensible posters on this forum.

Thngs are getting so bad I may just add you to my ignore list....ok ?

The foxes are yet to win at home this season... we are yet to lose away (or at home actually but that's nit-picking).

The strategy is clear.

Start as we mean to go on but keep it VERY tight at the back.

If they are under pressure early the crowd will be on their backs in no time, and the pressure and nerves will build.

Pin them back, score an early goal and use their crowd to our advantage. Simples.

"Weller, Southampton are-a very-a gooder side, t'was a closer game, butter those three late goals killedas..."

A tough game for us; Nigel is unusually and worryingly cautious meaning that he doesn't expects to win, hence the rhetoric about "whatever the result" "we carry on from there" etc.

One hopes we can get at least a draw because to lose now after 10 or so consecutive wins would be a real body blow to our younger lads as at the moment they are probably beginning to feel invincible. A defeat could hammer their pride and belief and could lead to a loss of confidence resulting in a losing streak. If we lose our current momentum it might be a while before it can be picked up again.

It is true that Leicester are off to a slow start and we know only too well how long it takes to make a solid fully functioning unit from a group of disparate players assembled quickly, so obviously our best chance is to get straight onto our pass and move game and dominate them from he off. We must not get bogged down in a physical long-ball kick-about as we did last Saturday when team skills are quickly negated but we must also recognise that this might be exactly the game that best suits Leicester at the moment.

This is one I'll watch from behind the sofa. I fear our 100% record will go and best hope we can get a 0-0 or 1-1.

What a load of shoite. They would still have won 10 of 11, hardly going to suddenly invoke feelings of utter failure, is it ?

Laws of probability say Leicester (a decent side) will not loose three in a row at home. And sooner or later we won't get away with having a 'mad ten minutes' like we have in the last three games. Probably score a couple though, so hopefull of 2-2.

And Neil Warnock is a confirmed nob, uneless anyone was unsure of that fact - 'Brian McDermott was magnificent when he spoke to me' ..... Please. He should be his own adjective, eg 'A man was charged yesterday with setting fire to a orphanage, drowning kittens in the canal and mocking national treasure Stephen Fry in a series of increasingly hurtful twitter posts. Police descrbid the man as an 'Utter Warnock'

Stop being so negative, it's not allowed. Having second thoughts myself and my more realistic prediction is 7-0 to the saints.

There is no real 'law of probability' here is there?

Why accept defeat or not winning as 'inevitable' at any point?

The form favours us. It's as easy to win the eleventh game in a ten winning streak as it is to win the first after losing, easier surely - confidence favours us, belief favours us, mental strength favours us.

If anything 'probability' favours us...

Yes they do. We're away to one of the division favorites. Ask a bookmaker for odds on them loosing three in a row at home or saints winning 12 in a row or 6 in a row away? Bookies are good on probabilities.

But once a team has lost two in a row at home, the probability of them losing three in a row are basically the same as of them losing any given home game? And ditto for winning 12 in a row once you've won 11!

Saints historically fall behind first and come back strong and win but we seem to have changed that trend so I've put my bets down:

Half time 0-1 Saints, Final Score 2-3 Saints @ 175/1. Worth a couple of quid! (also did 0-1 F/H, F/S 1-2 Saints @ 55/1).

COYS We've had no easy games yet but this must be the toughest but I am keeping confident.

- You should take the game on its own merits.

- You say "away to one of the division favourites", but Saints are actually shorter odds to win the Championship than Leicester with every major bookmaker.

You say that, but the odds for the lottery to comeout as 1,2,3,4,5,6 are the same as any other combination.

And indeed choosing 123456 makes a lot of sense because so few punters will, so if those numbers do come up, you'll probably not have to share the jackpot. Mind you, now I've said that, other people will choose them, so I'll have to start going for 234567, but .... bugger .... now I've scuppered that, so 345678 then . ... damn!

believe it or not 1,2,3,4,5,6 are the most population combination played on the lottery....
