Swansea vs Saints - Post Match Reaction

I thought you were supportive of the new set up????

Have I got that wrong, or have you seen enough to have a rethink????

I personally don't like giving it to someone without giving them a real go at it, but I am beginning to wonder if we should do a Wigley with this bloke and fire him!!!!!!!! Some of the stuff we are still seeing is very worrying.

I tried to be, as you say perhaps I've seen enough.

Can't see that me no longer being supportive will change anything as I don't see that there is any other solution.

Administration won't change anything, the only thing that will is money, can't see where that's coming from so all in all might as well go with the tide.

It's obvious that we have SOME players that a worth a game, but from what I've read about yesterday even they are no longer performing, and that can only be down to the coach.

Had a brilliant day..was told that I was going to be grand parent for the first time..spent the day at the Falmouth ale festival..got ****ed..got home with a takeaway and found we had lost again.

Been a Saints fan for 50 years and this is the worst side we have ever had , and the club is in the worst shape ever . Just watching the likes off Birmingham City play comfirms how far of the pace we are.

Still look on the bright side..it will get worse !!!!

Navyred, I think your posts are great when you give us the progress report on the youngsters, but from what I have seen the only youngsters who are up to playing in this league here and now are Lallana and Scneiderlin and the rest are going to need careful introduction.

What Saints are actually going to end up doing is destroy those players who may have the natural ability because pitching them in in such big numbers against seasoned league campaigners is absolute madness.

At the end of the day, unless there is a new Wayne Rooney or similar waiting in the wings then we are not going to score anything like enough goals to keep us up this season. It seems to me that Lowe and Wilde have given up on this season and are accepting the inevitable relegation that will follow when you get rid of three forwards and leave yourself with a group of kids that do not have the know how to compete and win at this level.

We have left these kids woefully exposed and they will not benefit from this experience.

I completely understand where you are coming from. We have huge concerns all over the pitch, but at the end of the day we have what we have. Today JP got it wrong, after Tuesday's battle at Sheffield our back four should have been Cork, Wotton, Perry, Skacel - if we get it right at the back, it is half the battle. I have seen enough of the kids over the last two years to yet again say the likes of White, James, Paterson, Mills, Thomson, Hatch (still being over looked), Lanashire, Lallana and even McG to believe that we have some real quality.

JP must use these players to the best of their abilities - that is not stifling how they play as individuals to allow them to contribute to the 'team effort'. I will say it again and again we must go back to a 4-4-2 formation. This will allow these kids to play how they have played over the last couple of years very successfully.

We had nothing in the attacking third of the field yesterday, because BWP was played as a left, then right winger and McG was floating somewhere inbetween with Gillet in the hole. As soon as we made the substituions and had a natural winger in Mills going past players and whipping balls into the box, with a striker in the middle in Paterson, we looked more aggressive and more likely to get a goal (even though it was 2 then 3 nil within five minutes of the substitutions!) - this just did not happen for the first hour, it really was simply awful football. I am huge believer in two forwards - they get the goals.

These kids want to be professional footballers as a career, this is the start for them. Give them time and patience, play them in their natural positions and watch them flourish, who knows one of them could be a Rooney or Theo of the future.

There is still enough in this squad to save us from relegation this year - I firmly believe this. To the fans I spoke to in the 'cage' at Swansea, the majority believe this as well - just get the tactics and team selection right JP and let them show you how well the really can play. Total football can come after we have have won a few games and made sure this club continue in the CCC and has a future

Wilde comes out and gives an interview saying all is under control. We are letting an experienced pro go but have brought in 5 or 6 loanies of which half don't even get a game. Where is the logic. Surely if we had returned some we could have kept John and with a 4 4 2 formation tried to score enough to win a few games.

Lowe has taken us down from the Prem by the cheap option and we are now at rock bottom because of the cheap option. If we had kept hold of Pearson and two of three of the so called journey men we would be better off, yes they were on higher wages but IMO we would have won more games than we lost. The point in case would be more through the gates at home, more money in the pot. Scooby, Sundance and the other Lowe supporters don't tell me I am wrong because I am not.

Oh well, better close the forum. Toomer is not wrong discussion over.

BTW Toomer what 3 journeymen would have helped us, Idiakez? Laziak? Jasmine? Unlucketti? Vignal? Ostlund? Licka? Any of these would jump into our first team would they? Skacel's influence lasted one game - was he tired?

As for Bootboy I'm confident he is operating at his level but he won't get Leicester promoted and Mandaric won't put up with too more many 0-0's at home against the likes of Northampton. Every cloud and all that....

I would've argued that not securing Richard Wright on a contract was our biggest mistake but Kelvin has been stoical, resilient, commanding and unstinting in his role in goal. Shoe in for player of the season if he keeps it going and the fans of this once great club (not including the fantastic support form the Northam) will do to well to show some of his passion.

But of course you are, as always, absolutely right so I won't argue with you.

Oh before I go, Vincent Pericard?!

Sundance criticises someone else for being a prima donna. What a joke.

If you had not noticed it is now the end of October. Why do you keep harping back to last season ? Are you so backward in your thinking that you cannot face the reality of today??

It is blatantly obvious to anyone who is a fan (and I still do not put you into that category despite your protestations) that this team needs some experience to guide it. I would quite happily take any 3 or 4 of those players you list and put them into the team. The youngsters need some experienced heads to guide them - without them all we can see is continuous wallopings by the likes of Swansea - Swansea FFS!!!

Picking Scacel and John at Sheff Utd showed what experience allied with youth can do. The penny seemed to be dropping with Rupes and JP. The subsequent loaning of John showed it was a dud penny.

Do you still believe in the "revolutionary new coaching system" If so, why??? Oh I am sorry you cannot afford a fiver to tell us. Go on . Ask the nurse who looks after you to lend you a fiver. I am sure it would do you good.

As for Bootboy, then surely you would have to say that he worked wonders keeping us up after inheriting that bunch of no hopers;);)

Business meetings vs Giving it to Crouch.

You had your chance, but you just melted. All bark and no bite:D:D:D

And being serious for a minute, I reckon most of those players would waltz into our current team.

Idiakez - Played well towards the end of last season and would bring some experience to the middle of the park.

Rasiak - Considering we don't look like scoring, I think he would definitely get a look in.

Wright - Give me right every day over James at right back. May even be an option in midfield.

Lucketti - Definitely play him at centre half. Would pick him ahead of Lancashire or Wotton.

Vignal - As a proper left back, he would get a game.

Ostlund - Not sure about him, but he's certainly better than James at right back.

Licka - Probably not!!!!!!!

I'm not the greatest fans of some of the above, but it shows how far we have fallen that I would accept most of them back into the team for tomorrow night!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Had a busy weekend, so haven't had a chance to post my views on the game yet.

Firstly, the police presence was insane! Must have been the entire South Wales Police Force to shepherd us to and from the ground. Didn't have a bad experience with them myself, but it did seem a bit heavy-handed.

Now for the game itself. Cannot believe he put James in at RB again. All Swansea were doing was knocking it out to their left wing as they knew they would get some joy out of James. I'm not blaming the lad himself, but he simply cannot play RB. We have to put Cork there and keep him there. Should have put Wotton in at CB. DMG was woeful, lacks a physical presence and cannot play up front on his own. I feel the team does has ability, JP just needs to get his tactics and his formation right.

Swansea weren't all that good, they knocked it around okay in midfield but didn't have to do anything impressive to get their goals. Before the game, all the talk was about how dodgy their keeper was, yet I think we only had 2 shots on target in the whole game and only one in the first half. I would have thought JP would have told them to pepper the goal straight from the off.

All in all, very disappointing, but not entirely unexpected. I'll be loooking out to see what formation JP puts out on Tues, if he gets it wrong again, we all know what will happen.

agree with most -Wright as RB -but, depending on whether Cork settles there but think our midflielders are better.

I would say that James is still easily better than Oslund.

I like II but not sure (like Svensson etc)how many games we would have out of him

No chance. James has been our weak link since day one of the season. Not his fault, as he's not a right back, but he gets torn to shreds every game.

I actually feel very sorry for him.

There is truth in what you say and I think 2 experienced loan signings would mentor these lads along. Look at how Perry encouaged and talked Lancashire into a good display at Sheff Utd (late red card apart). If Lowe and Wilde can't even (or wont) invest that, it's time they stood down ASAP. I think Crouch would have brought in someone experienced out of his own pocket and we'd be higher up the table IMO.

JP is out of his depth, that's all too clear. Poyet might fancy a first crack at management and he knows the English game well. Bring him in this week and we might still turn this around.
