Swansea vs Saints - Post Match Reaction

Went to today's game. Can only describe it us as utter crap.

We lacked confidence, skills, tactics in fact everything. James spent the entire game thinking he was a centre back leaving their left winger every opportunity to move down the wing, DMG again failed to justify being played ahead of Saga, Rasiak, John as well as the 2 loan strikers. BWP was no better. The defence failed to pick up any attacking threats, while the rest of the team appeared to want to try and play their way out of every situation with passes that went no where but to the opposistion.

The fans turned on each other late in the second half before many left the ground as the game was not worth it. Jan appeared to barely move from his position in the technical area, standing still for the majority of it.

The only positives were when Mills and Patterson came on as they actually appeared to want to run at the Swansea defence and get amongst them.

Chants of "We're Sh*t, and we know we are!" as well as being offside at our own corner summed up the game.

Watching this performance today makes me accept the inevitable relegation. Many in the away end seem to of the opinion that Jan's time is up and that Saints must once again take a ride on the managerial merry-go-round.

I look at Leeds fans with envy. At least they have European Semi finals, League Cup wins and 3rd place premiership finishes to keep them warm in the bad times. We only had a false dawn of a cup final. I would far rather we had gone for broke then and paid the price, rather then paying it anyway and having nothing to show for it.

Agree completely.

Leeds had mismanagement coupled with short-term success.

We had mismanagement coupled with an upper mid-table league position and a lost cup final.

I am becoming completely anesthetized to this, even last season I'd be ranting as the goals went in but came in late just in time for the 2nd goal on the vidi-printer & just shrugged, its becoming expected now.

I had really hoped that this experiment was going to work, but for all the nice play in mid-field we are toothless up front & the goals we are letting in are not great goals how many conceded from set plays etc players watching the opposition get the rebounds in our box first to score easy goals. The defence are not even doing the basics.

Even if not in administration by January What will we have left after the transfer window closes?

I just can't see anyway out of this but administration.

Not forgetting that Leeds also won the Premiership in its first (I think) year.

Anyway, I totally agree with you. I remember Lowe saying that 'we mustn't do a Leeds' and I also remember him saying in early 2004 that Saints were the best equipped team financially in the event of relegation - a self-fulfilling prophecy as that was exactly what happened and, as for being financially well-equipped, well look at the nice mess we're in now.

Never mind 'not doing a Leeds' the outcome for both clubs is going to be the same barring some miracle in the form of a takeover that isn't likely to happen, especially in the current financial climate.

It feels like waking up with a massive hangover without having gone to the party the night before

Got back about an hour or so ago and tbh this has been my worst away day for a while.

Awful performance by Saints like usual and I have also begun to stop caring for the club.

The lads don't deserve the support they get, they always let us down.

This is by far the worst team I have ever seen in red and white.

Rupert actually wrote me a letter once when i said to him about my concerns over appointing Wigley and he used the phrase "We dont want to do a Leeds".

Well i would swap with them now,

No doubt we will be changing places with them at the end of the season.

Why don't you write him another letter reminding him of what he said previously and where we are now.

Exactly what I thought. The two youngsters came on, Mills actually went past players and got some crosses into the box and Paterson did what all good strikers do, closed down defenders/keeper, ran into space and WAIT FOR IT..............................

ACTUALLY GOT A SHOT ON TARGET!!!!!!!!!!!!! (our only one I think!)

Well done nippers.

Thought Perry, Cork and Lallana made the effort today and apart from the two subs I was very disappointed with the effort and desire from he rest of the squad. However, we really do have some kids with natural ability, but playing this silly Xmas tree positional football is a laugh, it is stifling the players.

I disagree that we will be relegated - but only if JP starts playing 4-4-2 and allow the players to play their natural game.

Forever red and white

Relegation or Administration both seem inevitable but i wonder which will come first?

The future seems very bleak for SFC.

Yep.

Looking forward to the the special brand of humour belonging to nickh, NickG, saintwarwick and SadOldGit to bring a smile back to my face though....

So relegation or administration will bring a smile to your face, that doesn't surprise me as it's the only thing that you remain positive on. I will remain positive and believe we can avoid relegation even after losing John. Let's see what the next half a dozen games bring.

It's time to hold our nerve. Plan A = develop young players. Plan B = there is no plan B. So we have to live with some crappy defeats like this in the early part of the season. Remember Crystal Palace made the playoffs after a similar start to ours last season so please don't relegate us yet, doom-mongers.

Yes, but they had some half decent players, a millionairre chairman and a decent young English league experienced manager.

Even with SJ gone I thibnk we have the players to keep us up.

BUT

Good teams are built on solid defence. If only JP would pick the same, best back 4 week after week we would have a chance.

I fear the only way is down, because we will continue to leak goals, and either Donny or forest will pick up.

Palace had a hard working, fit, well organised side with an experienced manager.

They also had Neil Shipperly a big strong centre forward which most teams apart from Saints have in their side.

Lowe's strategy.

Step 1: Sell best players.

Step 2: Lose games

Step 3: Watch crowds and revenue dry up.

Step 4: Go to step 1.

Lowe should be certified, there is something gravely wrong with him and I'm not joking here.

A business plan which includes laying off off all your skilled workers is NOT SOMETHING THE BANK WOULD AGREE WITH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

A business is not sustainable with no skill base unless it's McDonald's and even then it's difficult !!!!!

This whole bloody mess is beyond belief, take me on Lowe - I will sell the required business plan to the bank you can't do it or won't - move aside you are not thinking a winning strategy which leads to one thing a loosing strategy and a loosing mentality which we have in abundance. You have a large investment that needs protecting let experts get in there and help you out YOU NEED HELP - SEEK IT !!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the post, doubleonothing. I was going to get to this game but a work commitment kept me on the Isle of Wight. Your summary of the game is most welcome, if not the contents...

I was in a business meeting all afternoon but had told a mate to text me the score as it came in on SSN. I honestly thought he was having a laugh when he sent through the final score. We are a club adrift. We obviously have nothing and are now in the relegation zone....... BUT....

a) it is still 'early days' (but getting slightly teenage-ish)

b) Lowe is a t-w@t

b) there is a long way to go in the season, and if memory serves this time last year we were also starting to plan out away days to league one grounds...

c) Lowe is a t-w@t

d) Lowe knows what he is doing - Stern had to go, we have already got too many performing strikers..

e) Lowe is a t-w@t

f) While he is the most obvious target of our frustration, Jaan PF is NOT to blame.... (see g. below for the one who i think IS to blame)

g) Lowe is a t-w@t

h) I totally support Jaan PF and his lads but..

i) Lowe is a t-w@t

Ahh, Christ, I could go on forever. Our boys lost today. I wasn't there but I can only say the following:

1. Well done Our Loyal Fans who made it to Wales to cheer our lads on..

2. Well done Our Lads for playing football, just do it slightly better next time, but we fans are - and always will be - with you

3. Thank you Jaan-PF for sticking with us, it ain't your fault you had to ditch Stern and all the others. You are working in a very difficult financial situation. When I shook your hand and looked you in the eye at the pre-season game at Farnborough I reckoned you were ok for our club, and still do..

4. Lowe is a f-@-c-k-i-n-g disgrace to our club.

5. Lowe out.

6. Lowe out.

7. Lowey boy! are you still drawing a salary from our club?! Are you!???

8. Lowey you t-w-@t if you are drawing a salary then you are stealing from 123 years worth of loyal fans donations and ticket receipts which made our club what it is.

9. Lowey - are you taking money out of the Club when we most need it? Are you?

10. Lowey my old T055er, if you are not taking a single solitary penny out of our club then feel free to come out and say it openly and I will retract all my statements thus far and make a £1,000 donation to the charity of your choice.

11. .... in the mean time I will openly state that you are a complete and utter t055er. You are robbing us to line your own purse. SHAME ON YOU.

I'm guessing that (leaving Killer aside because realistically more than a couple of games here and there will be unexpected) he's finally settled on Cork-Perry-Lancashire-Skacel but he needs Olly to stay on the pitch for a while.

I don't think Lloyd James has got the guile yet, and Wotton's a bit-part player. If Skacel leaves you slot Fish in with a wee bit more experience under his belt. Shaky, but we have what we have.

As for up front - McGoal, Tommy P, Jordan, Patterson. Talk about inexperience at the back, that must be the greenest forward line in the CCC. I'm praying that one of them goes on a hot streak but I can't work out which one it's going to be. And don't get your hopes up about Greg or Saga coming back... If we can't afford Stern now why on earth will we be able to afford the Polskis in January.

Bright spot? Some of our lads are really good - Lallana, Surman, Cork all in/around England U21s. I think Morgan's class, and I like Fish, Gillett and Holmes.

FWIW I think we'll avoid relegation (just) and have to hope our boys will be a year wiser and a year better next season.

Yep, you managed it.

Not only did you manage to keep up your completely indefensible support of the current regime, you actually managed to completely and utterly distort my post by 180degrees in your rabid luvviness. I said your comments would bring a smile back to my face, not that the prospect of relegation and administration brings a smile to my face.

The irrationality of your entire position comes more and more to the fore every day...

Keep going by all means with your petty points-scoring. You make yourself look more pathetic everyday. I suppose it distracts a little attention from the sheer unjustifiability of your position with the least intelligent amongst the site's posters.

Navyred, I think your posts are great when you give us the progress report on the youngsters, but from what I have seen the only youngsters who are up to playing in this league here and now are Lallana and Scneiderlin and the rest are going to need careful introduction.

What Saints are actually going to end up doing is destroy those players who may have the natural ability because pitching them in in such big numbers against seasoned league campaigners is absolute madness.

At the end of the day, unless there is a new Wayne Rooney or similar waiting in the wings then we are not going to score anything like enough goals to keep us up this season. It seems to me that Lowe and Wilde have given up on this season and are accepting the inevitable relegation that will follow when you get rid of three forwards and leave yourself with a group of kids that do not have the know how to compete and win at this level.

We have left these kids woefully exposed and they will not benefit from this experience.

Thing is though, like Warnock or not, he is an experienced manager and blended a couple of the best young players they had in with his experienced performers. They also still had strikers capable of hitting the net. We are a completely different story now. We do not have an exerienced manager, goalscoring forwards and have integrated too many kids!

I had to wait till this morning to post ANYTHING on this game as I was just so mad. I left on 65 mins, the earliest I have ever left, and even then the coppers didn't want me to leave!

'Shocking' doesn't even cut it. We were dominated from the first whistle

I looked on the Sky players ratings (which come from the fans) Nearly all our players were in the 2s and 3s.Even the "golden boys Lallana and Surman.

WTF is happening??.

I thought Jan was a good idea but if he cant cut it,cut him.

I thought you were supportive of the new set up????

Have I got that wrong, or have you seen enough to have a rethink????

I personally don't like giving it to someone without giving them a real go at it, but I am beginning to wonder if we should do a Wigley with this bloke and fire him!!!!!!!! Some of the stuff we are still seeing is very worrying.
