Free parking

Two hours free parking in Oakbank Road car park (about 10 - 15 min walk)

Lots of people park on the roads in Woolston and walk over the bridge.

I think you would need more than 2 hours. 15min walk x 2, 120 mins for game. Umm, might be cutting it too fine.

Always like this thread subject when it pops up, as some helpful souls who have found free parking through their own research, especially in spots where 5 minutes behind schedule sees them lucky to be parked, freely invite that space to be occupied by passing on it's location. Then that person tells someone else & before you know it departue time from home has to be 15 minutes earlier to ensure getting parked in your usual spot.

Getting one over the parking Stasi of Southampton City council is good sport but advertising where next to put a parking piggy bank defeats the object. Bit of a selfish attitude I know, but get into Southampton early and have a look about like most folks have done for themselves. If you have to pay to park close to the ground I always found Townhouse Quay under the Itchen bridge to be about the cheapest metered parking.

I think you can still park off the Avenue near the common for free. I have done this several times in the past but it's a bit of a walk. I usually use Charlotte place which unfortunately charges.

Yes, still the case. I always park on Cemetery Rd, just off the Avenue, below the Cowherds. It's free at weekends and there are usually plenty of spaces. About a 20-25 mum walk from SMS but virtually no traffic by time you get back to your car.

That was precisely the answer I was about to post. Have we met? (I'm the handsome chap who looks like a cross between Michael Howard and William Hague)

Only in passing. Me passing you to be precise. I'm that c/nt who on joining the Avenue (exiting Southampton) drives in the right hand lane, overtaking all those queuing in the left lane, who then indicates to join the left lane and some mug lets in. Is this you?
