Great news another piece in the jigsaw, All aboard Nigel's magic bus. Just shows these players believe in what is happening here & all want to be part of it. Quality player showing his ability at Ipswich with that sublime chip to put Lallana in for the killer 4th goal. Happy days!

A million was a bargain for him. The scout guy who recommended him to us and worked with us previously is a legend.

Wouldn't have been if it wasn't for Leibherr. That deal could have been the transfer which wiped Saints off the face of the planet. Don't get me wrong, I'm delighted he has signed a new contract and think he's a fantastic player, but at the time it was a dreadful signing.

about time the OS announced this, it was on here ages ago.

Happy to argue with anyone on here for as long as you like about how good this guy is and will be. Tremendous signing for 1.2m euros (I assume we have had to pay all the money by now unless some was based on promotion to the prem) when euros weren't the value they are now. Things just get better and better don't they. Happy days.

No argument from me. A little underwhelmed by Harding's extension but this is cracking news. Class player.

A real signal of intent to get a lad that talented signed up again. I think the likes of he and Adam were overlooked a bit in League One. If we carry on as we are in the Championship they are going to get seriously noticed & their values will soar.

Unfortunately Barnard is on a mini bus run by a firm with the initials HMP.

hadn't made the connection before, but all this chat about Nigel's transport reminded me of the old WHO number ...MAGIC BUS !

Great news.

He's real class and I feared we'd lose him.

On a pedantic point, the OS says he's one of "only a handful" of players in the present squad who remain from our previous stint in the Championship.

But I think there are seven such players...

Just how many players would you consider to be a handful?

.....seems like the WHO could supply us with quite a few tunes...like HAPPY JACK....and a quick look at our bench when we need a SUBSTITUTE...but nowadays it seems we win ANYWAY, ANYHOW; ANYWHERE.....why are we successful just now?..I CAN'T EXPLAIN!

I don't normally bother to echo what plenty of others have already said - but I'll make an exception to that rule in this case.

This is splendid news that will cheer any true Saints fan. Morgan is a fine young player who's noticeably improving with every passing season, and still at the tender age of 21 there should be more to come. One of those in the squad who has a chance of making it as a Premier League player methinks, as ever time will tell.

The one relic of the Lowe era that nobody on here should resent.

I don't understand this big love-in for Schneiderlin TBH. He's good and it's great he's on the bus, but Cork, Chaplow and even Hammond are more effective at the moment. Even Adkins says he COULD be the best midfielder in the league, but doesn't give him a start - I guess he means when he's worked harder at getting more consistency in his game.

Yes, damn him and his 21 years.

Morgan and Chaplow are very different player. Yes, they're both midfielders, but their style is very different. What I think Morgan gives you is composure (he's good to slow the game down a bit when under pressure), Chaplow is more combative and good when you want to take the game to the opposition (more aggression, more goals, but more likely to get sent off too!).

I still don't understand how we paid £1 million while absolutely broke and being run by Rupert Lowe. Everything else going on at the time was about cutting costs. Did he really cost £1m?

We didn't pay £1M. It was a deal up to €1.2M at a time when the Euro exchange rate was much better than it is now. The up to bit is also significant because it implies staged payments subject to achievements. I'm sure we have paid the full amount by now but at the time we probably made a small initial payment which we could afford. Give RL some credit, he only spent money that he knew we could afford.

We still need a decent song for him, even more now.

To the tune of "All you need is love" (Beatles)

"Allez Schneiderlin....dah dah dah dah dah"

repeat x5

Although it is quite rare, there is a syndrome? of players who actually perform better the higher level they play at...

I also think that Morgan will be even better when we move up to the Prem..along with Adam Lallana who has that MLT quality of just floating around the pitch and seemingly moving into top gear at a moments notice. The inspirational players.

Though it's 10 years since he retired..I still enjoy a blink at the "Impossible " video of MLTs career. Never needing to train hard, or practice basic skills repeatedly, he just seem to make it happen ad.lib.

I watched U-tube take on Lallana's goal v.Leeds (from behind the goal angle ) and saw how he bent the ball around the keeper and in off the post - almost without pressure and so with much time.

Morgan's chip to Adam... for the last goal at Ipswich, almost re-wrote the training manual....sheer class. A good player.
