How many Sold

Would put a guess in at 27-28k. By rights it should be a bumper crowd, yes.

I'd like to think so but I reckon it will still only be around 24k or so. If we were aiming for a bumper crowd, there would've been things on the OS by now urging people to hurry up and get their tickets in advance as it's selling well.

Imagine 'wall will bring 2k or so as well.

I'll be surprised if we get more than 22-23k , Millwall given 1900 tickets and haven't sold them yet according to their website

Someone mentioned on Millwall forum they had sold 1500 so far, but sort of club they are would imagine plenty will just pay on the day, 2000 Millwall I reckon and crowd of 25k

Millwall will bring about 2000 maybe a few more. I'm hopeing for 28K - great start to the season, great football to boot (no lucky wins so far). The only fly in the ointment is that its Millwall which might put a few of the fence sitters off.

The JCL's are back. I know this because the hand towels in the gents have run out before the end of half-time.

Another measure of the JCL factor is the numbers on the Hythe Ferry. Up to 2005 it used to be packed on matchdays with queues right bacn down the pier. In recent years, we could stroll down and walk straight on. Towards the end of last season it was getting full again, and there were faces I hadnt seen in years.

Not sure if i believe that

At The Den it is aboslutely true; there is a huge amount of policing and if you use the tube the fencing arrangements and police barrier mean that you are kept completely away from the home fans all the way to the away (enclosed) turnstiles. Same treatment for the way out and you're pretty much escorted on to the tube, you can go the whole game, before and after without brushing shoulders with one home fan.

For our home games the police are on top of their travelling support with escorts from the station etc. You can expect to see a vastly increased police presence throughout the city tomorrow.

I was surprised to see mounted police at the Leeds game, dont think i've ever seen that for a game other than Pompey.

I.it as hillarious, talk about chav-tastic.....some bird in a pink track suit was one of the highlights

Bottom right hand corner...... she did get a little upset didn't she. The funny thing was the two lads that were next to her dishing out the slit throat actions, happened to be on our train on the way home.... They were from Southampton, but millwall fans.

We took the kids with us and one got a bit upset by their gesturing. On the way home they came running back down the train, saying the same guys were on it. We didn't believe it until we got off and saw them, I took the kids over the bridge at the station, whilst a couple of lads "had a word with them" :) :) ......by the time they got over the bridge and out the main entrance their throat slitting had turned to profuse apologising.

The Hants OB don't have a mounted unit, we always draft them in from Thames Valley OB for the skates. I didn't see which constabulary they're from the other week.

I wonder if the Hants OB have treated themselves during the summer?

They also had the metal barrier up, which we had for the last Skate game. Assume it will be same again tomorrow.

What i meant was you still could not go in a pub on the Old Kent Road on an away game' date=' you are only safe because of the above average police presence and other measures, [b']it does not mean their boys have become choirboys[/b]

I never said that. All I said is that you're safe, which you are if you stick to the right areas. Obviously if you go wandering around the wrong areas, you'll get in trouble but the same can be said for a fair few grounds around the country.

I doubt the OB will turn up, they are probably too scared, like you, me and most of our fans.

Going back even further, under Branfoot, it was an old guy in a rowing boat

Yeah, I think we'll see a fair bit of the barrier this season. With the likes of Leeds, Millwall, Cardiff, Pompey of course, and a couple of notable others I'm sure the Police will mob well up and be on their toes.

Some of us regular fans wash our hands too you know ;)

Come to think of it why haven't we had a thread on how useless the current hand towel dipspensers are? It's right up there with the parking charge and programme cover picture scandal IMO.

Why do you believe him?
I've no reason to disbelieve him? That and I'm pretty certain he's smashed at least one of the girls in the ticket office.

Hoping the nice weather will give us a decent walk up - maybe 24k ish (which is pretty shocking really given where we are right now). Hope I'm wrong though.

With our Travelling Army of fans (to London games) and clamour for tickets at all home matches I'd hope to see the builders in asap to get the ground up to 60k in time for the promotion party at home to Donny on March 24th!

60K, are you sure this is enough? What about the catchment area? What about the fact Cortese is investing? What about Fulham being near Chelsea and able to get 27k? What about Chelsea only getting 10k in 1984? What about Liverpool being able to get 45k last season when they weren't very good? What about the fact they never said man would climb Everest?

F*** I forgot all about the IOW - Make it 70k, actually 80k for 2 reasons. IOW get loads to their festival which doubles their population and we should/ could be bigger than Manu U or AC Milan (not Barca yet but infastructure is there to make it possible).
