I think it's in the clubs possession now, and they decide when/where to use it etc.

I think Mike has tried to communicate with them, but they haven't been very forthcoming.

Basically the club have stolen our flag!

I think as someone else stated, the club aren't getting back to Mike. Mike if you give us the name of the person or department who needs to be contacted, maybe an email address, we could apply a bit of pressure.

Did the club pay more than 51% for it, if so isn't it technically theirs? Anyway, real shame that it hasn't been brough out. Maybe it will be for the 'big games' although if the opportunity is there, why not have it there every match? I don't understand. Very disappointing

Could'nt understand why it wasn't displayed at the WBA friendly or the Torquay carling cup game where there was plenty of space on the unoccupied stands.

I too contributed.

I am really bothered by this. Feels like I was robbed £25.

To be fair, mike always said it was being done for one particular match, initially Walsall but this then changed to the first home game, after which it would be up to the club. If you were expecting it every game, you made that assumption and should've read it properly, nothing more than one match was ever promised. I do get what you're saying but if you're gonna throw words like 'robbed' around its fair to point out you were not.

That said, I share your dissapointment at not having seen it more, and I do think its pretty **** poor that the club are now ignoring Mikes request for info.

So it's one time use was used for the Memorial Tournament? Fantastic.

I'd have thought if we were going to see it then it would have been Leeds. I may be wrong but I think that will be that for the flag now.

why..? it was seen about a week before....why not keep it for special times...??

Whilst I guess it made sense to use it for the memorial tournament, I agree its disappointing that became the one chosen match rather than one where more people would see it.

Perhaps more clarification should've been sought with the club early on, but I'd imagine Mike assumed the club would continue to communicate and cooperate with him after the flag had been handed over. He did a brilliant job getting the project together to honour ML, and it does feel that the club have done the bare minimum. I would have thought the least they could do would've been an article on the OS and continuing to speak to him afterwards about future uses.

Maybe the person he was dealing with has left or something?

We need Mike to come on here and keep us updated. In fact I would ask the MODs to put this up as a sticky for the time being so we can collectively keep tabs on any developments. Given many here donated a substantial amount of money, I would suggest a mini campaign to get the club to respond and hopefully get the flag displayed at home games would be more than appropriate.

how many home games do you want it for...I dont. maybe twice a year...otherwise it just becomes another flag and people get very used to it

I love the way you ask a question and then presume an answer! Do Liverpool only get their big flags out once a season? It's only a flag FFS - shows a bit of passion for the club and it's saviour. No harm done.

I sort of agree with you. The Leeds game was the perfect time for it though. Big crowd, live on sky.

so how many times do you want this flag out...?

I never ever notice whats on liverpools flags now, and I dont even like them...

So what? I'm not sure I understand what you're trying to say there - that flag is owned in a large part by everyone who donated.

In terms of how often, a good start would be for it to come out at least once when I and most other supporters attend...i.e. a league game. After that I personally would like to see it at the start of every home game. Even on the memorial game it was displayed in the Chapel with no supporters to hold it aloft and frankly I thought that looked a bit lame. If a football flag is not hoisted up a flagpole, it should be held aloft by supporters IMO.

well, saintscam, as you stamp your feet you have to accept there are those who dont want to see it every game and just want the club to get it out once, maybe twice a year (season)

I will say again for those that missed this on the other threads. I donated a smaller version of it to the foundation which has been signed by all the players, they haven't put this on the foundation web site yet as they want the bigger flag to have more exposure, when this would be is unknown but I do know the police haven't been that forthcoming with the idea. I have had no reply from the safety guy for some time but I keep trying. Also, it was never the intention for it to be used every game but agree that it should at least have been out at the Leeds game and maybe over the empty seats v torquay.

I hadn't considered that it could be the police holding things up, though I guess the club could still be more forthcoming with communication. I do find it funny that you need police authority to have a big flag.

Yep, me too. Each game needs a certificate, maybe due to the size of it they have concerns? But yes, they really need to work on their communication, not just on this!

I was unable to attend the memorial tournament so havent seen the flag yet. Why cant they just use it in the empty blocks i.e. 1 & 2 rather see the flag then empty seats, would love to be able to see something that I have donated to. I do understand it is not Mikes fault he has done his best to get it more exposure.

I don't understand why its a problem having it out at every games if the fans want it, Just look at the Kop, every home game its covered in flags of past hero's, plenty of other clubs have them as well, Chelsea, Man Utd, Man city..

I was thinkingt the same the other day when I was watching match of the day and one the sky games and showed a flag (or 2) in the crowd before the games and is like if they can do it why can't we ffs.

Any update?

Shame it hasn't been out yet. I think Leeds would have been perfect. If we do save it for the 'big' games then we wont see it until March/April time, as thats when we're at the 'business end', also when we play pompey and when the laster stages of the cups are played.

Would be nice if the club could as least confirm what's going to happen.

I'm glad I didn't get round to contributing now. It's a real shame that the club seemingly think so little of the gesture, but it doesn't surprise me.

Jesus,

do you ever stop? If the club is that bad and something you no longer like why do you not just go away.

PR you said you worked in did you?

so you were happy paying for a flag to be held in a store room and to be dusted off only when the club fancy it? hardly a fans flag is it.

Out of interest did you contribute to the flag?

I actually agree with Dune on this. I made a pretty decent contribution to this flag and bearing in mind the sentiment that was behind the flags creation I actually think it’s a bit disrespectful of the club that Mike (who went to great personal effort to arrange and facilitate the flag) can’t even get a response himself about when it’ll next be seen again.

when should it be used..? every game..? every other game..? for the leibherr memorial cup..?

It’s not for me to say how often it’s used, that’s not my issue. My issue is that Mike (who did all the work and originally had a direct contact with the club about the flag) can’t even get a response himself about what’s going on. The fact is we currently have absolutely no idea when we’ll see it again.

I just think it’d be nice if someone could get back to Mike with something along the lines of ‘We are planning on using the flag again at such & such match (subject to H&S & police approval) etc’.

There are a lot of fans who still haven’t seen it at all yet.

What’s your point? I’m not disagreeing that it’s for the club to decide when it’s used. I’m saying that I’d have liked for them to at least provide some communication around the subject.

You highlighting the part of my post that I’ve clearly just stated is NOT my issue is a little pointless isn’t it dd’s?

Why was it agreed that it would be at the club's discretion if/when it was ever shown the light of day again after the ML tournament when the majority of it was paid for by the fans? Further to that, what percentage of the cost did the club contribute towards it?
