1st Goal Hit the Stantion !

What he hell does it matter? We won 5-2.

Just say it did go behind. Ref sees this and we get a goal kick. 3-0 up.

Totally different game and who's to say they wouldn't have come back and drawn 3-3? Sure we could have won 8-0 but who cares? 5-2 does the job nicely.

Anyone got a vid of the Mark Hughes non-goal at the Archers?

He just seems a typical Ipswich resident. We went into a boozer after the game and speaking to the landlady, they had only moved there a few weeks ago and hated the place already. In fact, her exact words were "We hate this place, we're already looking to leave, it's just full of retards" The cross eyed, Lord of the Rings extra at the end of the bar didn't even bat an eyelid.

Also, when that serial killer was on the lose there, he dumped one of the bodies in the pub carpark there. Lovely place.

Give the lad a break FFS - fair play for showing a bit of initiative that a lot of you sour, righteous c*nts don't. Someone calls him a donut for not pronouncing Lallana correctly. In response, the guy responds:

"I can not help that! its annoying me that I have trouble pronouncing some words its because I have a learning dissability and a small speach problem hardly noticeable but doesnt cause me major problems just some of the word can be hard for me to say so no need to pick on my like that. Show some respect as i shew you respect"

I've said my peace ;)

Ipswich FC is situated in the roughest part of the town, which obviously doesn't help

In fact, it's common knowledge that Portman Road is the centre of Ipswich's red light area, or at least it was before the murders

Apparently they don't walk the streets now, just work in brothels around there. I found this out from the landlady... honest.

Just to get this thread back on topic - I have just watched it on the iplayer with my son and it definitely hits the stanchion (note spelling, pedants) behind the goal. Freeze framed it twice with the ball well behind the by-line. Watch Harding's reaction - he sort of knows it's out and then, as know one else responds he carries on. We have actually had a shocking decision against us in all three games (pen v Leeds & Chaplow clearly winning the ball v Barnsley & now this), but luckily it hasn't mattered.

On a wind-up? I'll bite anyway.

Look at the YouTube video taken from behind the goal, it goes nowhere near it. I was there and it couldn't have been more central when hitting the bar if it tried.

Looking at the BBC footage, to me, it looks like it hit the stanchion, 100%. That said, I wasn't at the game and cannot really make a point against people who were there and saw it hit the crossbar...

Weird this.

**After watching the "behind the goal POV", it hit the crossbar.

Look at it on i-player & look at Harding's reaction. It's weird, but it definitely goes behind, hits the stanchion & comes back into play. No wind-up, I promise.

It doesn't. Look at the YouTube footage, it goes nowhere near it. The footage on BBC is just an optical illusion. I agree it looks like it does but I can tell you having seen it in person and the footage from behind the goal, it doesn't.

If Harding saw it hit the stanchion, why didn't he chase after the referee after they scored?

I don't know why people are still disputing this. The ball clearly hit the sctannshion and not the bar.

I could see it, and so could my guide dog. (I have trained my guide dog to bark once when the ball hits the bar, and twice if it hits any net supporting appartus behind the goal. Rover clearly barked twice, although he may have seen next door's cat in the garden around the time we watched it).

Should've gone to specsavers, and take your son with you.

Seriously though - after about 10 takes of the bbc footage I was convinced that it went wide. But once you slow it frame by frame, you can see it is nothing more than an 'illusion' caused by the camera angle, the bend on the ball and the view as it goes past Kelvins hand.

Take the 1m 07s shot, frame by frame and you will see it - you can actually get the picture of the ball on the bar. Failing that of course, you can always watch the goal taken from behind goal, which clearly shows the ball hit the bar and begs the question what the hell are we all waffling on about on this thread....!!!

Ok, not conclusive I know, but this is the still with the ball on the bar:

Ballhittingbar2.jpg?t=1313763424

I have circled the ball on the bar. And as you can see, because of this camera angle and the line of sight between the point where the ball strikes and the stauntion (sic) - you may still see it as going wide.

But trust me, and the thousands that were there - it didn't.

No conspiracy theorist here please gents - nothing to see, move along now.

Was the ref going to give Town a pen if their second goal did not go in' date=' he seems to me to give the "I-spotted-an-infringement-but-played-the-advantage" arm signal rather than the "Goal" arm signal after it goes in. Hmmm?[/quote']

I noticed that as well.

Seemed to be a big handball shout from the crowd when the ball stuck between Deano and Emmanuel-Thomas which is the only thing I can see one might have been given for. A bit odd that he didn't make any motion at all until the ball hit the net and he made the advantage sign. Maybe he wasn't going to give anything but was trying to give the impression he would have once it didn't matter?

thank you for putting it this level of effort, I think we can all sleep soundly at night to night safe in the knowledge that, although we don't have 100% cast iron proof that it hit the bar, we do know that this is the geekiest place on the interweb if not the world!

No conspiracy theory, but a genuinely interesting phenomanon & not a great advert for using tv replays to settle disputes.
