The poster is correct. If you watch the BBC highlights here:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/14565065.stm

Then at 1m 07s, the ball from Chopra's shot clearly goes past the post, cannons off the stanchion and comes back into play.

After watching it about ten times, I would've agreed with you - it certainly looks like it does.

But - it doesn't. You actually nailed it with the 1m 07s, if you frame by frame it you can see that although it looks to have gone outside the post it is only an illusion because of the camera angle. About 2 frames into the 1m 07s shot the ball is actually on the bar about 2 - 3 foot from the post, but again you have to look carfully because again it's a bit of an illusion, purely because what you thought you had seen before.

The ball hit the bar.

Besides my overwhelming evidence ;) and professional analysis of this situation, even if it had of hit the 'net support post' to the rear of the goal, there is no way it would have rebounded in the fashion it did. The shot nearly snapped the crossbar - it would have decimated the 'net support post'...!!!

I rest my case.

Hard to believe this is even a discussion point. The commentator is an idiot! It clearly hits the metal crossbar and rebounds back at force. Those poles holding up the nets are made out of bendy plastic, if the ball hit them you'd see them wobble all over the place and the ball would lose all its energy and certainly not come back out onto the pitch as it did.

I remember once against Leeds at the Dell we (Mark Hughes?) scored a 'goal' that stretched the net and rebounded into play off the advertisement hoarding behind the net and came straight out. No one on the pitch appealed.

We were 0-2 at the time, and did not have an internet forum.

Yes, and I will never forget that... Grrrrrr!!!

So it was a goal - majority verdict, but should Saint's second goal have been disallowed? From all this close scrutiny of the video, it looks like Lallana was offside when Dan Seaborne played the pass forward to him, from which Adam put Rickie through to score. More close study needed....

Looked a tad offside

The Ipswich fanzine match report claimed the move was started by a ball " to the probably offside Lallana", I so watched it back at the time. The camera angle isn't great, but unless there's a player way out of shot playing Lallana on then he looks very clearly offside.

So lets get this right, our's is offside and they hit the green post thingy, on top of that the goal Connolly got, Guly cleary took it out of play before the hook back, so it's 3-1 right?

If you think it hit the staunchion you need a simpole lesson in geometry.

OK, the shot could have been the bendiest swerving banana shot in histiry, bounced of the staunchion and done another bendiest banana thin gon the way out, or else it could have just hit the bar.

I go for the conspiracy theiry myself - proof of aline life on earth to enable the ball to be so bendy.

Or else it hit the bar

Jesus what the hell is wrong with that guy!? At least our retards don't need to put themselves on youtube for every other club to laugh at.

Mind you he does look and sound EXACTLY as i expect MLG to be

Harsh, no-one is that bad. I mean Ipswich Cwathee bad, not MLG bad, which I am suggesting is less.

Anyone who is THAT sarcastic in speech that often with no-one around has problems.

Plus MLG would have known how to pronounce all of the opposition players' names.
