dubai_phil Posted 18 August, 2011 Posted 18 August, 2011 Nope. Look, enough of linking players who only travel in Limos, it just wastes storage space and hence is causing climate change. We now only stop to collect players waiting at Bus Stops.
Brussels Saint Posted 18 August, 2011 Posted 18 August, 2011 If Nigel believes he can manage him then we would be nuts to turn down a proven PL standard striker. 27 is not exactly ancient and he will score goals.
dune Posted 18 August, 2011 Posted 18 August, 2011 FWIW I wouldn't want him here because of his attitude He was once just a normal know-it-all teenager. I think you should be more tolerant of people with attitude problems.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 18 August, 2011 Posted 18 August, 2011 I doubt very much that we will sign another striker. Beckford would be a good signing for us, but for many reasons it's just not going to happen. Barnie will be back soon and then we'll see what he's made of in the NPC.
Sheff Saint Posted 18 August, 2011 Posted 18 August, 2011 No chance. Beckford has pace but not much more. Not the quality we are looking to build. Also big question mark over his temperament. I remember him sulking off after getting subbed against us at Elland Road in the 09-10 season.
Appy Posted 18 August, 2011 Posted 18 August, 2011 If NA can get him in the form he was in when at S****horpe with him i would take him instantly. If he replicates his performances against us in 09/10 he can do one.
Huntingdon Posted 18 August, 2011 Posted 18 August, 2011 Did anyone not watch Everton's match at Wolves last season? It was on Sky, Beckford slated Moyes for substituting him, and maintained his anger whilst in the dugout He looked an absolute Grade A tosser There's no room for people like that under NA, as we've seen with Puncheon
egreog Posted 18 August, 2011 Posted 18 August, 2011 There is no way the club under its present ownership and management would dream of signing him, and that is so refreshing. Saints want committed, skilful playerswith the RIGHT attitude and personality to fit into the set up. There are many players who may have the skills, but a lot of them would not suit Saints. Long may that approach continue!!
sfc1971 Posted 18 August, 2011 Posted 18 August, 2011 Puncheon out - Beckford in. Frying pan & fire come to mind
Ian the Red Posted 18 August, 2011 Posted 18 August, 2011 Pure speculation. What's the point, we all know that nothing will be known until Saints actually release some detail. Not even my sources are letting on who is coming in, if any. Everyone is sworn to secrecy @ SMS.......... pure speculation!
PhilippineSaint Posted 18 August, 2011 Posted 18 August, 2011 Jermaines are never good news. They bombed my chip shop
Avenue Saint Posted 18 August, 2011 Posted 18 August, 2011 Had a long think about pros and cons of each player and out of seb, Maynard, jrod and beckford, I think I would want Maynard! Right age, proven in this division. Pacy and appears would be a better fit. Think 4-5 mill would also do it and a fair price for current going rates.
captainchris Posted 18 August, 2011 Posted 18 August, 2011 I think he'd do a good job here, but I don't see him as being the team player that NA & NC seem to be going for. I seem to recall he caused a stink in Leeds promotion run in league-1. Didn't he have a massive bust up when subbed against us at Elland road??. Also had a couple of bust ups with Moyes, I don't see him fitting in here at the moment. Not right for us......wrong character and maybe not a team player in other ways either - just not sure about his ability either - al in all a definate no for our team...
Thedelldays Posted 18 August, 2011 Posted 18 August, 2011 Not right for us......wrong character and maybe not a team player in other ways either - just not sure about his ability either - al in all a definate no for our team... how the hell do you come up with that...?
hughieslastminutegoal Posted 18 August, 2011 Posted 18 August, 2011 he is a good player and would score plenty of goals, but hes very moody and arrogant bloke. i can imagine him not going down well with everyone in dressing room Puncheon mark2
Norm Posted 18 August, 2011 Posted 18 August, 2011 Not interested in moving to Saints or Nottm Forest, according to my paper.
dune Posted 18 August, 2011 Posted 18 August, 2011 Pure speculation. What's the point, we all know that nothing will be known until Saints actually release some detail. Charlie Wayman Posted 18 August, 2011 Posted 18 August, 2011 West Ham & Southampton in for Becks! http://www.everton.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=251505 Oh No! Not him. Another player who has always been labelled as "having potential" but never having actually delivered it. Who can blame Moyes for wanting to shift him out the door. Now we are top, obvious to mention us in despatches as being interested then others will come sniffing around. A journeyman if ever there was one. Not for Saints thank you!
stinhk Posted 18 August, 2011 Posted 18 August, 2011 8 goals in 32 appearances for Everton, I suspect his 'sitters missed' tally is a tad higher and his work outside the box is largely horrible. Vastly overrated imho. I recall Moyes subbed him once for not putting enough effort in. Would be very disappointed if we were in for him.
SaintAndy14 Posted 18 August, 2011 Posted 18 August, 2011 Would be gutted if we signed this joker - was at Elland Road when he threw his toys out the pram at being subbed (after missing a number of chances, falling over for free-kicks and taking about a minute to get back up) and generally would hate a player like him coming in and ruining our team spirit and togetherness - Puncheon excepted. He and Puncheon would get on like a house on fire. There aren't many players I really dislike, but he is one of them.
Crab Lungs Posted 18 August, 2011 Posted 18 August, 2011 I would mention his attitude as being a potential problem but hasn't Nigel worked with Beckford before, so that might possibly be a good thing? Besides, Puncheon was hardly all-to-blame for his falling out with the club, anyway...
Professor Posted 18 August, 2011 Posted 18 August, 2011 Beckford might come if Adkins sent Puncheon up to Merseyside to have a word with him. They could be new best friends.
John Boy Saint Posted 18 August, 2011 Posted 18 August, 2011 Can't see him being a willing passenger on the bus meeself.
Rebel Posted 18 August, 2011 Posted 18 August, 2011 he was terrible for Leeds against us at St Marys - all he had was pace and little else apart from the arrogance and the selfishness of a goal hanger! he offered nothing to the team which was losing a game a needed to grind out a draw - he just just sulked and wined, dived and complained to the ref a awful lot
Saint Fan CaM Posted 18 August, 2011 Posted 18 August, 2011 Got a feeling we will sign him Why pray tell? It seems to make no sense whatsoever.
SuperSAINT Posted 19 August, 2011 Posted 19 August, 2011 http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12876_7112467,00.html Good player, but can't help but feeling he'd be another Puncheon. I'd have Jay Rod or Maynard over him.
adrian lord Posted 19 August, 2011 Posted 19 August, 2011 He just ain't a Saint. Some players never could be.
lethallee Posted 19 August, 2011 Posted 19 August, 2011 Saints probably 'expressed interest' in Beckford just to hurry up other players and/or clubs.
saintj Posted 20 August, 2011 Posted 20 August, 2011 BREAKING NEWS FROMTHE ECHO! lol http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/9207130.Everton_snub_Saints_bid/?ref=rss
