chrisobee Posted 17 August, 2011 Share Posted 17 August, 2011 Any tips/fancies here please. Worth reading is an excellent Day 1 preview from Matt Bisogno at Geegez.co.uk : http://www.geegeez.co.uk/york-ebor-meeting-2011-preview/?awt_l=OXG7k&awt_m=3bqCHdu1BSrxDVG
frankie Posted 17 August, 2011 Share Posted 17 August, 2011 Cheers for starting this thread Chris and for the link a very good read and some interesting stats, especially about trainers to avoid.. On to my selections on a tricky looking day: 2.00 Not too sure about the draw so will choose two selections one with a high draw and one with a low and see what happens, Kanaf is my first selection, he has a high draw, has been running very well and looked very unlucky in his last race behind Hoof it. For the low draw selection I go for Swiss Franc who last raced in France but before that showed some decent form in this county, he will like the underfoot conditions and has a chance. To be honest it is a minefield of a race with anything capable of winning. Selections: Kanaf and Swiss Franc 2.30 Archbishop looked very good on debut and Meehans runners often need their first run so improvement definitely expected, small stakes in a good race. Selections: Archbishop 3.05 My nap of the day goes to Sea Moon (poor horse). He has always been well regarded and despite looking a little short of fitness on his seasonal debut he won well enough . With improvement likely, unexposed form and some fancy big race entries Sea Moon for me looks a good bet. Selections:Sea Moon - Nap 3.40 Await the Dawn must be respected but beating Harris Tweed last time out isnt great from and I much prefer Middays last run when beating Snow Fairy, as for the others, they have little to no chance. Selection:Midday 4.15 Mister Musicmaster to continue his winning form. Selection: Mister Musicmaster 4.50 The unexposed favourite has a huge task winning this on only its second run, so for value I am dutching Barren Brook and at a very nice price World Heritage. Selections: Barren Brook and World Heritage. Be lucky all Frankie
chrisobee Posted 17 August, 2011 Author Share Posted 17 August, 2011 Could just be you and I Frankie ! I agree it is a very tricky day though there are possibly a few decent bets elsewhere. However, for York : 2.00 The draw could well be the key here. Right next to Kanaf in stall 13 is Irish Heartbeat. Ran well 4 days ago at Doncaster and 12/1 looks a decent ew price. Ancient Cross is another drawn high and looks a smart horse. Switching to those drawn low Swiss Franc would be my pick. So: Irish Heartbeat/Ancient Cross/Swiss Franc 2.30 I also like Archbishop here and along with Zumbi these are my 2 v the field. So : Archbishop/Zumbi 3.05 : Seville is a silly price and with Frankie going to scupper Sea Moon I'm going for Thimaar ew at around 25/1. This is very speculative but John Gosden is running him for a reason, at least you would think ! So: Thimaar Danger : Sea Moon ( if he can bear the weight of expectation) 3.40 : It might be a Group 1 race but I cannot get enthused about it so.. No selection 4.15 : No real idea about this minefield of a race. Es Que Love looks to have as good a chance as any so is a rather tentative selection. Selection : Es Que Love 4.50: I like Barren Brook also though the price has contacted this morning after Hugh Taylor tipped it ! Eagles Peak does look to have a favourite's chance and is hard to dismiss but is too short for me so Ithoughtitwasover should run a good race and at a real big price Master of Arts is a horse with plenty of ability and might be worth a few pennies ew. Selections : Ithoughtitwasover/Barren Brook Dark Horse : Master of Arts ew Away from the minefields at York a few bits of info: Nottingham 1.50 Blanc De Chime is strongly fancied and the early 2/1 soon went though still best price is 13/8 with several bookies. Nottingham 4.35 Ninfea : ew at 16/1 Hereford 7.10 Whereveryougoigo – He’s in good order by all accounts and conditions should suit tonight. If he puts it all in he’d have a great e/w chance. Coral are only going 13/2 but is 10/1 in places. Good luck ! Chris
chrisobee Posted 17 August, 2011 Author Share Posted 17 August, 2011 Nice winner with Sea Moon Frankie but otherwise several placed horses in what was clearly a tricky day ! If, as is likely, you post 1st tomorrow I am going to stick with my selections come what may Chris
chrisobee Posted 18 August, 2011 Author Share Posted 18 August, 2011 Could be juust me today so selections only ! 2.00 3 at decent prices v the field : Electric Qatar/Bogart/Parc De Launay - All small ew bets, Electric Qatar currently at around 33/1, Bogart 11/1, Parc De Launay 20/1 2.30 For me looks likely to go to either : Gamilati/ Angels Will Fall 3.05 Pintura ew at around 8/1 3.40 Blue Bunting/Viva Nota - but not a great deal of value 4.15 Wild Coco NAP 4.50 Don't really have a clue but : Deauville Flyer/Dazinski ew
frankie Posted 18 August, 2011 Share Posted 18 August, 2011 Not just you mate, sorry - been busy...blimmin' hard day today and I dont think we have any of the same selections: 2.00 The favourite is no value at all, so my three against the field are the Irish raider Hestian, Hannons second string Moustache and I cannot desert Worthington at a huge price. 2.30 They have always thought a lot of Shumoos and I know on form figures he has a bit to find, but I think today may be his day, Best Terms at a nice price is tempting too. 3.05 Massively wide open race with nothing to be seriously discounted.....my two against the field are Pendragon for the inform Ellison stable and Dubai Dynamo at a tempting price. 3.40 my nap of the day is Crystal Capella she won by 8 lengths before running a good race over a shorter distance, hopefully she will run all over these and win by a wide margin :-) 4.15 Set to Music to carry on her progressive form 4.50 Chilly Filly was useful for Mark Johnston then moved to James Givens stable, Brian Ellison now has him and I see there has been some money for him this morning, so Chilly Filly and the in form Seaside Sizzler to prevail. Good luck if anyone is having a bet Frankie
chrisobee Posted 18 August, 2011 Author Share Posted 18 August, 2011 Could be just me today so selections only ! 2.00 3 at decent prices v the field : Electric Qatar/Bogart/Parc De Launay - All small ew bets, Electric Qatar currently at around 33/1, Bogart 11/1, Parc De Launay 20/1 2.30 For me looks likely to go to either : Gamilati/ Angels Will Fall 3.05 Pintura ew at around 8/1/ Harrison George ew at around 9/1/Fareer ew at 16/1 3.40 Blue Bunting/Viva Nota - but not a great deal of value 4.15 Wild Coco NAP/ At an ew price small saver on Mirror Lake 4.50 Don't really have a clue but : Deauville Flyer/Dazinski ew Better late than never Frankie ! Just added a couple at decent prices for the 3.05, still no duplications ! Good luck. Chris
chrisobee Posted 19 August, 2011 Author Share Posted 19 August, 2011 A slightly better day yesterday, day 3 preview : http://www.geegeez.co.uk/york-ebor-meeting-2011-preview/
frankie Posted 19 August, 2011 Share Posted 19 August, 2011 Yeah a good day Chris, with your 20/1 winner a highlight, although we did have the first three between us !!!! On to today, and no easier than the previous days. 2.00 Almost anything can win this but my two against the field are Waldvogel, who is very consistent and but for being hampered last time may have won. The trip and ground will be no problem for him. My other selection is McBirney, he has looked very useful since being stepped up to 1mile 4 furlongs and could take a hand here, his draw is a concern. I also like the look of Troopingthecolour but could go on all day so wont. 2.30 Caspar Netscher has been running in some good races, his form behind Harbour Watch has been franked with Bogart winning nicely yesterday having finished behind Caspar Netscher in that race....of course there are several unexposed types but to small stakes Caspar may ghost home :-) 3.05 Older horses do well in this race and Dux Scholar looks an improving type, but my money is going on Western Aristocrat, his form looks ok, but he is open to improvement upped in trip and on ground that he should act on. 3.40 Ahhh this is ridiculous, my two against the field are Captain Dunne, to blast out make all and win.....just or Tiddliwinks to win again as he is a horse to follow when on form. 4.15 Of those that have run I fancy Storming Bernard, who has some decent form, from the same stable there has been some interesting money for Strictly Silver so it may be worth watching how that runs. 4.50 I have followed Queen of Cash from its first few runs so will not desert it today, especially as she is in such good form...I may chuck a couple of quid at Clumber Place too. Good luck Chris and anyone else having a bet. Frankie p.s. Elesewhere I really fancy 'The dukes Speech' in the 2.55 Bangor and that is my nap today. chrisobee Posted 19 August, 2011 Author Share Posted 19 August, 2011 Ok, there may only be 2 of us ( maybe just me today ) but 5 winners found between Frankie and myself on Thursday wasn't too shabby ! Even in the lucky last we found the 1st 3 I suspect today will be "after the Lord Mayor's show " but for the sake of an interest today I am going for these. Fair to say a few speculative bets as always: 2.00 A nice easy 20 runner handicap to start, I'm hoping The Fonz can bounce back and take this for the 2nd year running. now back off a decent mark. My other selections here are the Tim Easterby trained Mirrored.(16/1 looks a fair price ) and Warlu Way at around 10/1. Selections : The Fonz ew/Mirrored ew/ Warlu Way ew 2.30 Only 9 runners here which makes life easier. Lilbourne Lad is the clear favourite but at around 10/1 I think B Fifty Two offers some value. The other one that interests me is Sardanaplus who may well be able to build on his debut win. Selections : B Fifty Two ew /Sardanaplus ew 3.05 : Godolphin has an excellent record in this race and I'm hoping for another winner today with Blondetti. As usual Frankie takes the ride. Playing the name game I havec to put up Kings Gamit also at around 25/1. Selections : Blondetti NAP/ Kings Gambit ew 3.40 : Another clear favourite here with Hoof It but 5/2 is short enough. At around 8/1 Masamah can hopefully shoulder the burden of having Frank Spencer on board ! Margot Did looks overpriced at 25/1 in places. Selections : Masamah ew/ Margot Did ew 4.15 : I have no idea how you figure this one out with so many newcomers other than to check out the market ! Among those being backed are Crying Wolf, Burrano and Mizwaaj. The latter has the benefit of Paul Hanagan riding for Godolphin with Frankie riding Crying Wolf. and looks a fair bet, I'm opting also for the Hannon/Hughes horse Imperial Order despite it looking weak in the betting ( so a very logical choice !). The current favourite though only just is Thomas Chippendale but is on the drift. Selections : Imperial Order ew /Mizwaaj ew Danger Crying Wolf 4.50: A wide open race, I am pretty clueless again but Jeannie Galloway looks to have a decent ew chance and at bigger prices I'm opting also for Caelis at 14/1 and at around 20/1 Misplaced Fortune : Selections : Jeannie Galloway ew/ Caelis ew/ Misplaced Fortune ew Good luck ALL Chris

chrisobee Posted 19 August, 2011 Author Share Posted 19 August, 2011 Strangely again no duplications which might be a good sign, the only negative is I have also tipped The Dukes Speech on the Tip Exchange to over turn Golden Dream Good luck to us both even if is the usual "no bets" for me ! frankie Posted 20 August, 2011 Share Posted 20 August, 2011 Cracking tipping yesterday again Chris, finding big priced winners is ever easy but to get them two days running is excellent...wished i'd chucked some money at your horses too...on to today and have to post early and just selections as off out to watch the mighty Saints. 2.00 Dream Ahead 2.30 Communicator 3.05 Dandino 3.40 Saptapadi 4.15 Gusto 4.50 Comical 5.20 Lady Royale Good luck Chris, come on you Saints. Elsewhere, I fancy consistent pointer Merry Terry in the 4.00 at Newton Abbott. Frankie

chrisobee Posted 20 August, 2011 Author Share Posted 20 August, 2011 Well guys I'm not hopeful of yet more big priced winners, for me too many trappy races today but... 2.00 Regal Parade/Doncaster Rovers ew 2.30 Parlour Games ew at 11/1 / Thubiaan ew at 10/1/Wayward Glance ew at 25/1 3.05 Opinion Poll/Harris Tweed 3.40 Modun ew at 8/1/ Neetham ew at 141/ Harlestone Times ew at 25/1 4.15 My Propellor/Excellete 4.50 Crius/ Self Centred ew at 10/1 5.20 Barnet Fair ew at 8/1 A few elsewhere : Sandown 2.15 Malthouse At 7/1 decent ew bet - Think Arch Fire has a good ew chance too Chester 3.35 My Lucky Liz- looks another good ew bet at around 7/1 also Chester 4.10 Ill De Re NAP : Has been working brilliantly at home by all accounts and if he takes to the quirks of Chester then he would have a great chance. Perth 4.20 Restoration :Restoration was off the track for a long time but ran well at Perth last time out finishing a good 2nd to a subsequent winner. By all accounts he has come on a bit for that and any improvement would see him right there today. Granted a clear round he should go very close, and the 4/1 looks a bit of value. Good luck Frankie, Mikey and Saints ! Chris

frankie Posted 21 August, 2011 Share Posted 21 August, 2011 Crikey Chris you were on fire yesterday mate...multiple winners. I did do Brian Ellisons second string Moyenne Corniche in the big race just because he was so sweet on its chances on the Morning Line. chrisobee Posted 21 August, 2011 Author Share Posted 21 August, 2011 Sometimes trainers do speak sense, very nice price too for Moyenne Corniche so I guess you can eat again now ! All in all a fair old meeting and pushed Follow The Trends up to 100 points profit since it started 4 months ago. I don't know if I mentioned but that crappy review did get removed. So with Saints and Hants winning an excellent weekend ! Cheers, Chris
