What made me laugh was the headline I saw " Pompey announce Fratton Park redevelopment"

A whole 100k !!

To be spent as follows

Fix guttering leaks so fans don't get wet

Move screen to middle of stand

Refurbish some toilets

Should be a lovely ground after this redevelopment

So 3 home games in a week is easy to finance then? £79 for an adult to watch all three excluding travel costs

When Saturday Comes......

We'll see

Still the good news for the few is they won't have to worry about stretching their benefits out to any more Carling Cup matches

I think that was announced in The News.

"Redevelopment" was basically PR speak for "doing the minimum to keep the health & safety bods happy"

Make all the excuses you want, 11k is appalling. We got crowds bigger than that in the JPT.

And how many turned out for the ML Trophy? You might not have noticed personally but for many people monney is very tight right now.

In all honesty FMPR, how do you think that in the same situation Saints crowds would have been affected? Especially as both of your league games were against near neighbours. Do you think that we would have got more than 16000 last night?

Last post of the day for me, but I suspect the pricing for you is a bit more reasonable than ours right now as we are still on prices set by Chainrai. On the gate price is £32 for a game and Barnet last week was £15. If memory serves we were paying £35 or £37 when we had our super team in the Prem so a lot as finding the current prices not exactly "value" for money. You guys are on the crest of a wave right now with everything that Adkins is touching is turned to gold, fair play to you. My own personal view is when the league starts to balance out you will finish between 14th and 8th which for most promoted clubs is very good, then on the proviso Cortese hasnt sacked Adkins I think you will be very high up the table next season by virtue of the teams that come down from the Prem this year are nowhere near as strong as what came down last year.

I believe last season we played 5 home games in one month, then when we played Brighton (the 4th game of those 5) , we managed a crowd of 27k. This was obviously in the league below as well.

In fact, we played 8 out of 9 games at home during a 2 month spell thanks to the weather and only once did our crowds for league games drop under 20k and that was only by a few hundred. They were normally around the 22/24k mark.

13k is truly pathetic.

On the gate price for all Saints league games is £32 in the Itchen/Kingsland centre stands and the Torquay game cost £14.

Haven't Pompey got categories this season, so some games will cost less than £32 on the day of the game?

You really can't use that as an excuse for why Pompey get 11k home fans and Saints get 23k home fans. Nor can you blame the economy, as it is the same for both sets of fans.

On the gate price is £32

On the gate price last night at Portsmuff was £27 (Reading friend had to buy his on the night).

An equivalent for us would also be £29 if bought on the day.

Take out those 1,500 Reading fans out and the attendance was appalling!!!!!! I couldn't believe the Brighton attendance (even with those Brighton fans in the home end), but last night was awful.
