saint_jas Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 What a win, originally I said loss before season started, draw after Leeds, then win after Barnsley. But 5 - 2 wow. Typical Saints 3 up, then squeaky bum... but damn 5-2. Can't wait for Saturday to come, although listening again to Dave, hmmm. Hopefully the Leicester away tickets will be available tomorrow...
adrian lord Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 Superb. I am really looking forward to giving Brighton a salutary lesson, even more so than the fishy fingerers for some reason.
Bucks Saint Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 Bloody brilliant. Massive smile on my face. Even my "not a clue about footy" missus said Wow
Saint Charlie Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 Someone get a video of these goals uploaded!
SOTONS EAST SIDE Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 Just seen the goals on SSN Morgans pass to Adam, was class!
Saint_Jonny Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 I'm totally in dreamland at the moment! !!!!
Joey-deacons-left-nut Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 This was a team built to succeed not in Division One but higher. And perhaps much higher. Our players are looking better in the Championship than they did in Division One. Probably because they're not having seven barrels of **** kicked out of them week in week out, and instead if hoofing it and sticking 11 men behind the ball other teams actually try to play...
JustMike Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 just seen goals on SSN - What a ball from Morgan!
Saint137 Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 As many predicted the more open style of play in this division benefits our technical ability. Expect 9 behind the ball and shut up shop at St Marys from now one - the problem being of course that teams aren't used to playing that way in this division. In summary: WWWTL
Pancake Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 I've just seen one of the goals on Sky Sports - it looked like a massive passing **** take. I also noticed that Southampton almost threw away a 3 goal lead but won 5-2 whereas West Ham thrashed Watford....5-2 is 5-2 it doesn't matter when the goals go in. Watford/Hammers was 0-4 wasn't it? That's a thrashing in anyone's book.
Saint_Jonny Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 Someone get a video of these goals uploaded! This! Get on it Baj!
Wade Garrett Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 56% possession and 5 goals away to a very decent looking Ipswich side. Outstanding.
dubai_phil Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 In a state of shock. I honestly do not think I have felt like this about Saints since the crazy days of Keegan. Cork sounds like the bargain of the Century, and we are still looking to improve. The old nagging doubt (being an old Saints fan) about Newly promoted bounce is there, but what seems to be the REAL difference with us is that we have some actual quality players out on the pitch, yes astonishing team ethos but then add in the quality of Connelly & Lallana. First time in 18 years that I truly wish I wasn't over here and was back watching us week in and week out. Even future Mrs D_P is finding it hard to cope with the screaming shouting yahooing around the home office her words "I can't get used to seeing you listening to Saints with a grin" Wish I'd put a tenner on NA becoming England manager eventually - Old 'Arry was right, he seems to have something. OK that's the gushing done. Now back to waiting for it to all go t1ts up. (Oh and lol at EricofArabia having to work tonight. His responses by txt - omfg, WTF and Yowzers)
Kingsland Red Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 Best yet. Our low profile is now blown, let's hope Arsene etc don't notice over the next couple of weeks.
bpsaint Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 Wish we were playing them dirty Skate bastards this weekend, we'd ****ing annhilate them the way we're going!!
Saint Charlie Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 (edited) Nigel - "Lambert in the shape of his life" "Schneiderlin has potential to be one of the best players in the league this season" "Cork a class act. Top target this summer." "I can't wait to see the goals again myself" "Mass speculation, tried not to get involved about speculation with other players from other teams. Got players at the moment who are scoring lots of goals." Edited 16 August, 2011 by Saint Charlie

vince Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 just seen goals on SSN - What a ball from Morgan! All our goals looked pretty good in the clips just now, long may it continue. Feeling quite pleased with my 14/1 on winning the thing and 175/1 e/w on Connolly as top scorer. Time will tell, but lets all have a disco......................... :^)
CanadaSaint Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 Probably because they're not having seven barrels of **** kicked out of them week in week out, and instead if hoofing it and sticking 11 men behind the ball other teams actually try to play... Absolutely right - and on better playing surfaces. Just as I think Nigel said - we'll see how they do against teams that are comfortable on the ball, or something like that. This side can clearly play with style - purposeful passing, moving off the ball, triangles and tons of width. But they have to do that on heavy pitches in December and January as well. Still, I'm loving the moment.
Gigersaint Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 (edited) Thankyou Saints, for stepping up at 2-3 to keep my 7 fold going tonight winning me 376.92!! I'm a very happy man tonight. Saints Win and lots in pocket! Edited 16 August, 2011 by Gigersaint
Junior Mullet Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 ....and the best bit is we sold a player for £12m and look all the better for it. Team spirit and team understanding at the heart of this. Well done Nige - I like where this bus is heading
S-Clarke Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 We've got a special team at the moment. They all love playing together and we attack and defend as a unit, we look so fluid. Ipswich didn't play badly tonight, neither did Leeds really, but we were just too good. Too quick, too sharp, our movement and guile equals what you'd expect to see from Premiership sides. I'm so pleased for Lambo, shows he'll have no trouble getting goals at this level - he's also been pretty faultless in the other games with his play and assists.
Legod Third Coming Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 Best yet. Our low profile is now blown, let's hope Arsene etc don't notice over the next couple of weeks. Low profile? What part of finishing second in League One by three points, with a billionnaire owner and boasting the country's top rated teenager was clandestine exactly??!!!!
Dark Munster Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 wow very very good, thought we were going back to the old days when we used to let nice 3-0 leads slip, Cork seems to be the buy of the season now we just need Ridder to get a look in! If someone had told me at 2-3 that there would be exactly 2 more goals scored, I'd be shitting myself.
beatlesaint Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 Every one of those 5 goals was classy, no lucky goals or scuffed mis hits, all pure class. Some of these one-twos we are playing are seriously wonderful !
Lazlo78 Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 We have dominated a game at home, we have closed out a tight away game and now we have soaked up a potential comeback and turned it into a comfortable victory. Only question mark is how we will cope with a defeat, but with this team I would assume that they are able to bounce right back. Brilliant stuff
Jonnyboy Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 Bloody Brilliant! Never thought we'd start like this. Feeling positive but prepared for when we lose the first too, Its a damn hard league to stay top of all season...
oracle saint Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 And to think that last year it took us 9 games to register 9 points. In 43 years of turbulent Saints support I'm not quite sure when we entered dreamland ..... but I like it here.
fromdayone Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 We are, and will continue to do well away from home this season purely because our slick passing game is more effective being played on decent surfaces....unlike the ploughed fields of most of the league 1 teams last year.
The9 Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 Low profile? What part of finishing second in League One by three points, with a billionnaire owner and boasting the country's top rated teenager was clandestine exactly??!!!! The bit where no-one outside League One noticed. Just like no-one outside the Championship will notice now. For a few weeks, anyway. How gutted am I that I will only see us play at home once before October ?!
Ohio Saint Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 If someone had told me at 2-3 that there would be exactly 2 more goals scored, I'd be shitting myself. I had already crapped myself just to be on the safe side.
Thedelldays Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 saint lard and dalek....? thoughts on our crap team and manager...?
S-Clarke Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 saint lard and dalek....? thoughts on our crap team and manager...? Dalek has certainly gone quiet. I think he's going rather red.
Saint Without a Halo Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 10 wins in a row now to as we extend our record run but most im,portantly now they include the likes of Ipswich and Leeds both strong pre season favourites to be near the top of the championship. bodes well and long may it continue.
Legod Third Coming Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 The bit where no-one outside League One noticed. Just like no-one outside the Championship will notice now. For a few weeks, anyway. How gutted am I that I will only see us play at home once before October ?! Trust me, anyone who is anyone in football notices. It's just the national press who prefer to focus solely on the Premiership...
S-Clarke Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 GOALS HERE Every goal was beautiful. Dagenham and Redbridge my ass Poyett.
Saint Without a Halo Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 GOALS HERE You are a gentleman sir!
Legod Third Coming Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 GOALS HERE WOW. Five of the best goals you will see. Feck me, Messi would be proud of those!!!! (Less said about our defending the better, mind...) No seriously, that's like Barcelona or Brazil. The movement, the thinking. Bugger me. Is this a dream??? Will the wife pop down in a minute in all the gear and offer me a cold beer and a blow job while I rewatch the goals again..........
trousers Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 GOALS HERE **** me! Clean pants please! Wow, just wow....
manji Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 Can we get some perspective here ? Are we not forgetting Cortese was on the front of the programme and McMenemy still has to pay to get into St Marys .
