The9 Posted 16 August, 2011 Share Posted 16 August, 2011 I've said it before and I'll say it again, those Team of the Week things bear absolutely no resemblance to the best XI performers in their respective positions on any given weekend. For a start it was completely impossible for any Championship midfielder (other than possibly Cork) to have played better than Lallana did on Saturday. He was stupendous. In addition, players who've played averagely but scored somehow pop up onto the list with ridiculous frequency. It's just a contrived list probably drawn from hacks and lazy reporting, lobbed into a blender with a pinch of politics, and as such is utterly worthless. What makes it worse is that the Texaco Fantas Football, which actually has it's own scoring system from which a genuine measure of performance can be gleaned (albeit only based on goals assists and clean sheets - which this week would also have seen Lallana omitted), instead chooses to link to this crap.
