itchen_dan Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 I'd accept a loan if they were to pay say 250k+ loan fee and the majority of his wages.
dubai_phil Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 Dear QPR. We'll drive Puncheon up for you. Oh and as it is a loan and a fee will be due and we know you have money issues, just loan us Grokss for the season. We'll let you have him back again as we pass you on the way up. But don't bother about JP, we haven't included an SAE for him.
hutch Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 hmmm. Warnock wants to "negotiate" with the Don. In public. This should be fun.

Let him rot in the reserves I say. Sorry but they can kiss my arse if they think they, a Premier League club, can loan a player from us, a Championship club... It's ****ing ridiculous. I can understand loans going Premier League to Lower league as Premier League clubs want their player to keep match fit, improve and get competitive games but we're talking about a club earning millions in Sky money and they're baulking at playing £1 million for a player with Premier League experience? It's insulting and if I were a QPR fan I'd be furious that my club was gambling with the its future so recklessly. It's a joke and I'd fully expect Cortese to show QPR the door. You want him? Pay for him, you have the money.
gaz Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 If any QPR fans are reading the forum to gather information on Jason Puncheon, let me sum up the feelings of the Saints Web members. He's gash.
hutch Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 If any QPR backroom staff are reading the forum to gather information on Jason Puncheon, let me sum up the feelings of the Saints Web members. He's absolutely brilliant. Wenger was in two minds whether to take him or Chamberlain.
Big Bad Bob Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 Sorry but they can kiss my arse if they think they, a Premier League club, can loan a player from us, a Championship club... Big Bad Bob Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 Blackpool were also a PL club that loaned him last season. The club should do a straight swap with Gorkks Gorkss doesn't want to come here (allegedly), you can't force a player to go somewhere he doesn't want to go, we've left the 19th centruy behind

Big Bad Bob Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 I was not aware that he didnt want to join us. It's in the original Punch thread, he wants to stay at QPR and fight for his place!!
SaintRichmond Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 It's in the original Punch thread, he wants to stay at QPR and fight for his place!! Well, if he can't force himself into the mighty QPR side that got stuffed 0-4 last Saturday, then I would question his (current) ability
Big Bad Bob Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 Well, if he can't force himself into the mighty QPR side that got stuffed 0-4 last Saturday, then I would question his (current) ability I was trying to get text strike through working on my post but couldn't, of course the phrase "fight for his place" really means "earn his inflated wages getting splinters in his bum"
anothersaintinsouthsea Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 Struggle to see what we get from a loan deal. If we don't want him, which seems obvious, then we need a permanent deal and a fee. I'd have mixed feelings if i was a QPR fan: great to be back in the top flight but embarrassed by the penny-pinching board who are frankly rediculously wealthy. Even Blackpool last season showed more ambition.
hutch Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 He might change his mind when QPR name their 25-man squad. Warnock might accidentally leave a copy of the "draft" where he can see it.

Everyone hates the board, Blackpool spent 4 times as much as us. Saying that, I dont want Puncheon at all.
Jack Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 That's the problem, nobody wants puncheon. He believes that he's a premier league standard winger, so doesn't want to play at a lower level. Thing is, £1m or less for a premier league standard winger is an absolute bargain, but the only interest has been a mere sniff from the least ambitious team in the prem. Says to me that nobody else thinks puncheon is good enough for that league. Let him rot if QPR don't want him
Kingsbridge Saint Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 Hardly queing up for Puncheon are they? And he got his arse in his hands because Oxo took his place?
Doctoroncall Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 When he sets his mind to it he's not a bad player. Needs man management obviously but if players like Barton can get contracts so can Puncheon. Good to get a fee but even better to get him out of the club which I would think he wants more than finding a lucrative deal.
Giordano Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 If any QPR fans are reading the forum to gather information on Jason Puncheon, let me sum up the feelings of the Saints Web members. He's gash. That's rubbish. You don't speak for me. He is a decent CCC player who could do a job in the epl. I don't know where you get your football nous from but he scored for Blackpool and millwall at higher than div 1 level so "gash" he ain't. --- I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=50.715236,-1.879420

grammy Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 Sorry if i've missed it but does anyone actually know what Punch did to upset Nige's bus? Still reckon he could've done a good job for us but obviously that ain't gonna happen.
derry Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 Two loans are enough, either swop him, sell him or let him see out his contract in the friendlies if he can't get back in contention.

I think he was ok getting on the bus, just the fact he didn't like the seat near the back so got off and hasn't been prepared to come back to his allocated seat.

CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 A middling footballing talent hitched to ridiculously over inflated delusions of grandeur and a rotten attitude towards the game. Although 'Gash' seems a tad harsh a description for a player who can (on his day) play a bit, I can fully understand the sentiment. A 25 year old with 8 or 9 different clubs under his belt already ? Like a car with a list of 25 'previous owners' on the log book this should give any club real cause for concern. All in all I strongly suspect that precious few Saints fans will be sorry to see the back of him - I know with absolute certainty I won't.

Well that just about sums it up for me, except to add that he supposedly couldn't settle in Plymouth or Southampton or Blackpool......he's a London boy innit so would be well suited to QPR......unless he has problems settling in West London, or North London......
Weston Saint Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 Perhaps this present kick up the backside is exactly what Puncheon needs. He clearly thinks he is better than he is. He can be a decent player when he puts his mind to it. Clubs in higher divisions would not have sought him out and played him regularly when he was on loan. However when it comes to matching the alleged value of £1m placed on him by the club, they shy away. Puncheon needs to understand at Southampton it is about the squad. Very few have a right to be on the teamsheet every week. They have earned the right. Puncheon must go about it in the same way. He might be stuck with us for the rest of his contract. He needs to decide if he is going to change his ways to fester. He has to be hungry in training. He has to fit in. He needs to heal old wounds. He has to make the first move and the club then need to hold out the hand of reconciliation. A bad boy can turn. Remember Kenny Burns of Notts Forest!
paulwantsapint Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 JP could be great, on his day is great but that is the problem we have with him it has to be JPday JP is suited to loan moves play better than ok for a while then move on when he finds its a team game
Wade Garrett Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 Personally, I'd rather he played in the reserves than be allowed to go on loan again. His loan last season was about putting him in the shop window. Someone will come in for him this month.
hutch Posted 16 August, 2011 Posted 16 August, 2011 There is some value in showing the rest of the squad what happens if you don't toe the line (assuming he didn't at some point).

Gingeletiss Posted 17 August, 2011 Posted 17 August, 2011 It appears that the QPR take over is complete. They have bid 4 million for Scott Parker, hard choice that, Puncheon or Parker.
S-Clarke Posted 17 August, 2011 Posted 17 August, 2011 I think they'll now be shopping in a totally different market.
MOSaint Posted 17 August, 2011 Posted 17 August, 2011 It appears that the QPR take over is complete. They have bid 4 million for Scott Parker, hard choice that, Puncheon or Parker. is Parker in the last year of a contract or something? Don't think they'll get far with 4m
Chez Posted 17 August, 2011 Posted 17 August, 2011 (edited) is Parker in the last year of a contract or something? Don't think they'll get far with 4m Current contract ends 2014. West Ham want to lose his wages and maybe just as importantly he wants to play in the Prem to secure his England place. He's 31, zero sell on value and no one has offered anywhere near what they initially wanted. Edited 17 August, 2011 by Chez
Flyer Posted 17 August, 2011 Posted 17 August, 2011 This may have an impact on things... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/14566122.stm Good times if it happens! now that Tango and Cash will be gone, we have £10-£15 to spend on 3-5 players so it looks like no Puncheon (thank god) but on the other hand if we buy another CB, it could mean Gorkss realises he has no chance of playing and might go to Saints.

Flyer Posted 18 August, 2011 Posted 18 August, 2011 Blimey...bargain 3 players at a fiver each! I must have thought tango and cash were still in charge! FWIW, Puncheon was still mentioned as one of the 5 players we might get in one of todays papers.
This Charming Man Posted 18 August, 2011 Posted 18 August, 2011 Enough with this loan nonsense. Just get rid of him once and for all.

Rory Posted 23 August, 2011 Posted 23 August, 2011 Does anyone actually know the true behind the scenes situation with Puncheon? Class player, really.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 8 September, 2011 Posted 8 September, 2011 Warnock has just been on SSN, talking about his summer signings, and he didn't exactly sound as if he was too bothered to get Puncheon! Went something along the lines of: -Because Bellamy went to Liverpool we took a last minute gamble on Puncheon. -Wasn't really a gamble because we only have him until January. -He was desperate to come, so desperate Warnock didn't even know Puncheon was there until he saw it on SSN! Doesn't exactly sound like he was top of their priorities, or that they have much confidence in him!
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 8 September, 2011 Posted 8 September, 2011 They are made for each other! Indeed, he said he was going to be writing on the subject in his column on Saturday.
