The Kraken Posted 15 August, 2011 Share Posted 15 August, 2011 I don't think it gets sung anymore after he showed his dislike for it at Plymouth? “I don’t particularly like that,” said Connolly, who gestured at fans to stop the song at Oakwell. Saint Garrett Posted 15 August, 2011 Share Posted 15 August, 2011 Was sung a few times at Barnsley from pockets of the Southampton support. Quite a few people didnt join in with it though. He gestured to the Saints fans when it was being sung on Saturday and at Plymouth last year.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 15 August, 2011 Share Posted 15 August, 2011 I don't think it gets sung anymore after he showed his dislike for it at Plymouth? Wrong - it was sung by a bunch of twerps on Saturday at Barnsley.

Big_Bald_Si Posted 15 August, 2011 Share Posted 15 August, 2011 Sh1t song, he doesn't like it, and neither do a lot of people. Far prefer "na na na na....David Connolly, Connolly, David Connolly!"
ant Posted 15 August, 2011 Share Posted 15 August, 2011 If it wasn't all that funny when he broke back into the first team then it certainly isn't now. As Connolly says, he's been fit for bloody ages - not to mention currently in some of the best form of his life. Daft chant, he doesn't like it, yet a pocket of mongs will continue regardless. *shrug*

EastleighSoulBoy Posted 15 August, 2011 Share Posted 15 August, 2011 It rang out, quite clearly, at the Torquay game. After the first ever singing of it, which to some was humorous, it should not have been sung again. It's disrespectful and shows no thought or consideration to what he has been through with injuries, both here and previously in his career. I'd guess he has pushed his mind and body to extremes to get himself back on form and providing so well for Saints. We fans owe him something more than a song like that. Matthew Le God Posted 15 August, 2011 Share Posted 15 August, 2011 I don't know why it bothers him all that much. He wants to feel loved! Even if sung in jest, the "back from the dead" song has a negative tone about it and I understand why he doesn't like it.
david in sweden Posted 15 August, 2011 Share Posted 15 August, 2011 sung three times at Barnsley Mmm... great way to upset your best striker..eh? ......all good for team morale is it, guys ? .perhaps the ****** who sing it can think again before they continue. Matthew Le God Posted 15 August, 2011 Share Posted 15 August, 2011 It rang out, quite clearly, at the Torquay game. Did it? I don't remember that. Also there would have been little reason to sing about David Connolly as he wasn't in the squad for the Torquay game, let alone on the pitch. Super_Uwe Posted 15 August, 2011 Share Posted 15 August, 2011 Maybe I'm a bit mad but I think it is quite an affectionate, tongue-in-cheek song. After all, we're all pleased that he's back in the team playing rather than being on the sidelines? That said, he clearly hates it and so it would be best if it was stopped. Don't want him to stop scoring!
saint_disco123 Posted 15 August, 2011 Share Posted 15 August, 2011 I agree we do need to stop singing it, the last thing we want is him not liking the saints fans! why dont we tie him in with the " makes messi looks ****e" song?
