St.Patrik Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 So are you guys respecting that? http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/9195957.Connolly_not_worried_about_extra_pressure_from_new_striker/?ref=twt
Turkish Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 It's no surprise really. It's as cringeworthy as the Cortese song.
Saint Charlie Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 I don't think it gets sung anymore after he showed his dislike for it at Plymouth?
scotty Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 Old news, but fair enough for him to point it out. Again. Surely to christ we can dream up something better for him?
Chez Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 I don't think it gets sung anymore after he showed his dislike for it at Plymouth? sung three times at Barnsley
Saint Garrett Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 Hadnt heard it since Plymouth away, he clearly didnt like it. Was very surprised to hear it sung again at Barnsley.
The Kraken Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 I don't think it gets sung anymore after he showed his dislike for it at Plymouth? “I don’t particularly like that,” said Connolly, who gestured at fans to stop the song at Oakwell.
Appy Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 I didn't hear it once at Barnsley! That is worrying as Connolly was on the pitch and he heard it.
CFSFC Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 Terrible song, Connoly is a strange man though i spent five mins in his presence at the saints party and he'as not all there.
Saint Garrett Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 Was sung a few times at Barnsley from pockets of the Southampton support. Quite a few people didnt join in with it though. He gestured to the Saints fans when it was being sung on Saturday and at Plymouth last year.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 I don't think it gets sung anymore after he showed his dislike for it at Plymouth? Wrong - it was sung by a bunch of twerps on Saturday at Barnsley.
CFSFC Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 I didn't hear it once at Barnsley! How was the hangover sunday? I spent 2 hours head down the toilet, worse than that is i had the runs due to a dodgy kebab. Bad day all round.
Appy Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 Terrible song, Connoly is a strange man though i spent five mins in his presence at the saints party and he'as not all there. Couldn't care less, he is clearly all there on the pitch.
Saint Garrett Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 Certainly think atleast 50% of the Southampton fans would have had a sore head on Sunday morning ! I'm still feeling it now at work !!
This Charming Man Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 How was the hangover sunday? I spent 2 hours head down the toilet, worse than that is i had the runs due to a dodgy kebab. Bad day all round. Haha. Wasn't too bad, I feared it was going to be worse. Think the croissant helped soak some of the booze up...
This Charming Man Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 That is worrying as Connolly was on the pitch and he heard it. Must've been more p*ssed than I originally thought.
CFSFC Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 Haha. Wasn't too bad, I feared it was going to be worse. Think the croissant helped soak some of the booze up... Cant beleive that couple didnt want it when i tried chucking it over to them...
St Chalet Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 If you are in the crowd and hear it being sung replace the words with "He scores with his head"
This Charming Man Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 Cant beleive that couple didnt want it when i tried chucking it over to them... Some people are so ungrateful.
sambosa75 Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 What song is this? Not that I concentrate but they only song I know about him is the Na na na na na song.
JonnyLove Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 He don't like that song. He don't like that soooonnng David Connolly. He don't like that song. Taxi!!!!
dronskisaint Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 Stroppy git, it's only a bit of fun! Fair enough as a point in itself but why the f*ck would we want to p&ss off our own player?
farawaysaint Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 Fair enough as a point in itself but why the f*ck would we want to p&ss off our own player? Especially one as sharp as Connolly is now O.o
Sour Mash Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 Didn't hear it at Barnsley either. S***e song, but I don't know why it bothers him all that much.
HurleyBurley Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 Oooo ooooo oooo, can we have a song for Connelly thread?
Big_Bald_Si Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 Sh1t song, he doesn't like it, and neither do a lot of people. Far prefer "na na na na....David Connolly, Connolly, David Connolly!"
ant Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 If it wasn't all that funny when he broke back into the first team then it certainly isn't now. As Connolly says, he's been fit for bloody ages - not to mention currently in some of the best form of his life. Daft chant, he doesn't like it, yet a pocket of mongs will continue regardless. *shrug*
Durleyfos Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 Fair enough as a point in itself but why the f*ck would we want to p&ss off our own player? Because some of our fans are mongs.
EastleighSoulBoy Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 It rang out, quite clearly, at the Torquay game. After the first ever singing of it, which to some was humorous, it should not have been sung again. It's disrespectful and shows no thought or consideration to what he has been through with injuries, both here and previously in his career. I'd guess he has pushed his mind and body to extremes to get himself back on form and providing so well for Saints. We fans owe him something more than a song like that.
Bartosz Bialkowski Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 Hes been back for a while Back for a whiiiiile David Connolly He's been back for a while No?
Matthew Le God Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 I don't know why it bothers him all that much. He wants to feel loved! Even if sung in jest, the "back from the dead" song has a negative tone about it and I understand why he doesn't like it.
david in sweden Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 sung three times at Barnsley Mmm... great way to upset your best striker..eh? ......all good for team morale is it, guys ? .perhaps the ****** who sing it can think again before they continue.
This Charming Man Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 It rang out, quite clearly, at the Torquay game. I didn't hear it at the Torquay game either.
Handyman Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 How was the hangover sunday? I spent 2 hours head down the toilet, worse than that is i had the runs due to a dodgy kebab. Bad day all round. Too much information !!!
Matthew Le God Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 It rang out, quite clearly, at the Torquay game. Did it? I don't remember that. Also there would have been little reason to sing about David Connolly as he wasn't in the squad for the Torquay game, let alone on the pitch.
Super_Uwe Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 Maybe I'm a bit mad but I think it is quite an affectionate, tongue-in-cheek song. After all, we're all pleased that he's back in the team playing rather than being on the sidelines? That said, he clearly hates it and so it would be best if it was stopped. Don't want him to stop scoring!
saint_disco123 Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 I agree we do need to stop singing it, the last thing we want is him not liking the saints fans! why dont we tie him in with the " makes messi looks ****e" song?
Bourno Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 He wants a new song He wants a new soooonnnng David Connolly he wants a new song
Bourno Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 He scores goals for fun He scores goals for fuuuuun David Connolly , he scores goes for fun
wild-saint Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 i think he needs to lighten up a little personally
Thedelldays Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 you can see him waving his hand on the highlights at the song
JustMike Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 So are you guys respecting that? http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/9195957.Connolly_not_worried_about_extra_pressure_from_new_striker/?ref=twt i dont like it either
JustMike Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 Didn't hear it at Barnsley either. S***e song, but I don't know why it bothers him all that much. At a guess i'd say its because it refers to him being dead at some point!
jjsaint Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 Would he like a nice piece of haddock to go with that massive chip on his shoulder
