S-Clarke Posted 9 June, 2012 Share Posted 9 June, 2012 I just think that although Jack Cork and Danny Fox are both very good players, maybe it has all been part of a long term plan to get these two here to eventually get Jay to join them? We could've easily gone for other LB's and CM's in the division but these 2 are both reportedly good friends with Jay and by having these here, we can then use them in our favour to persuade him to join us? I think we've paid a lot of attention to Burnley over the last few years in scouting terms, maybe for Jay Rodriguez specifically and our scouts also recommended those 2 as decent additions to our squad, doubt there's much more to it than that. lordswoodsaints Posted 9 June, 2012 Share Posted 9 June, 2012 Everton can offer those things too with no threat of being in the Championship next season. Adkins would be gutted if it falls through - JR has been his top target for two summers! How can you say everton don't have the threat of relegation?......they are very weak, have little money and don't look convincing at all,the premier league is becoming more of a level playing field for 99% of the clubs in it and it's only a matter of time before one of the big long term stalwart clubs drop out,it wouldn't surprise me at all if it happens next season. The Aston villas, evertons of this world are flirting with danger and if they continue to do so then they will be relegated.

They have finished in the top 7 of the premier league for the last 7 years, 56 points in 2012, 48 points in 2011, 58 points in 2010...they are not flirting with danger what so ever. They have a solid base, a fantastic manager and some really good players. Fellenni, Jagielka, Heitinga, Baines, Howard, Rodwell, Jelavic....quality right through that team. Don't kid yourself that we're on an even footing with them in terms of status, because in reality we're no where near and players will see that if they have the choice. buctootim Posted 9 June, 2012 Share Posted 9 June, 2012 (edited) If I was Chairman - because its always a risk that a new appointment might not work out, and for the possible impact on the team if you reward success with the sack - I probably wouldn't. SaintBobby Posted 9 June, 2012 Share Posted 9 June, 2012 Moyes is an utterly superb manager. I'm amazed he's still at Everton. My other ideal candidate if something awful happened to NA would be Martinez. Must admit, the rollercoaster of the last few years has left me disorientated about who we might realistically attract and who we can't.
