patred44 Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 Radio Solent are reporting Burnley have accepted our offer of £5.5m for Jay Rod..
Saint Billy Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 Yes I saw that on Football rumour site but disregarded it. I cant find it on Solent site.
VectisSaint Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 Radio Solent are reporting Burnley have accepted our offer of £5.5m for Jay Rod.. Can't blame them really, 5.5m for a largely unproven Division 2 striker is total madness, in my humble opinion. But not so mad when we have just received 12-15m for a largly unproven Division 3 17 year old. The world has gone mad.
Jimmy Gabriel's Halo Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 What a difference a day makes 24 little hours... I'm just off to Betfred to put a shilling on us for promotion if this is true. Meh, make that 2 shillings ! I'm feeling confident.
Appy Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 Was this actually said on Solent? Or is it like the Monk rumour?
hypochondriac Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 I don't think this was said on Solent. Delete thread unless it can be proven is my advice.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 Patred44 is NOT a liar! he is a good man - I trust him
Saint Charlie Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 Did you hear it first hand Patred? Probably read it on that stupid rumours site. Why anyone goes on there I have no idea...
hypochondriac Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 I noticed this is on tui but no one else has heard it. Wind up IMO.
St.Patrik Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 Nothing yet about this on Twitter - so It can´t be true then ; )
Saints67 Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 Just asked my Burnley supporting mate if he's heard any news. Haven't spoken to him since last week so he may have topped himself by now!
patred44 Posted 15 August, 2011 Author Posted 15 August, 2011 (edited) Did you hear it first hand Patred? No, got it through a text by someone who had..he lives in the Solent Radio area...I don't it is also being stated on UI by people in that catchment area Edited 15 August, 2011 by patred44
iansums Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 Someone has posted the same on TUI, and no it's not Patred.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 No, got it through a text by someone who had..he lives in the Solent Radio...I don't
The Kraken Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 Burnley are singing Danny Ings http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/9195608.We_need_boost_of_Ings_signing__says_Burnley_boss/ So it would tie in with the previously suggested idea that they would sell J-Rod when they have a replacement lined up.
Mowgli Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 I don't think Solent Twitter mentioned that £4.5m had been refused either so I would not read too much into that . I heard it had been mentioned on solent too (along the lines of it appears that Burnely have accepted... ...etc etc) but have not heard it myself. It is clear though that Burnley have had a bid for Danny Ings accepted for £1m so it could be a lead in to Jay moving.
del boy Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 Patred44's mate has sent him a text to say that "Radio Solent are reporting Burnley have accepted our offer of £5.5m for Jay Rod.."
patred44 Posted 15 August, 2011 Author Posted 15 August, 2011 We all must be aware that having a bid accepted only means we can speak to the player... others can gazzump us if we don't strike fast
sfc4prem Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 Until it's on Solent twitter I'll file this as speculation
SO16_Saint Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 this goes along with the tidbit of info I heard that there would be a signing announced today
Bentley Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 From what I've heard, Sky Sports News are running with Newcastle have bid 8M for him, and it's been accepted. Damn you Pardew! Will turn it on now to see.
Prince Jazzbo Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 Are we the new Stoke and Burnley the new us? Assuming its true of course.
Appy Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 From what I've heard, Sky Sports News are running with Newcastle have bid 8M for him, and it's been accepted. Damn you Pardew! Will turn it on now to see. They aren't i wouldn't bother turning on.
pimpin4rizeal Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 wasnt it patred who a few years ago done a massive wind up bout a takeover when we was in admin? pinch of salt
Turkish Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 So has anyone actually heard this themselves then?
S-Clarke Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 Newcastle have had a confirmed bid of 8m, according to the burnley forum
Appy Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 Newcastle have had a confirmed bid of 8m, according to the burnley forum Where?
Tom28 Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 I'm kind of hoping that we tie up a deal for J-Rod that sees Forte going the other way. I just don't see where he fits in, and he seems a nice lad so if he's not getting a look in, we should let him go somewhere to compete for a starting spot. Not for a minute saying he's not good enough or done poorly for us (in fact, his two goals at home to MK Dons to turn around a 2-0 deficit was probably the biggest turning point in our season last year), but he's clearly down the pecking order.
patred44 Posted 15 August, 2011 Author Posted 15 August, 2011 wasnt it patred who a few years ago done a massive wind up bout a takeover when we was in admin? Pinch of salt no ..wrong
Appy Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 Newcastle have had a confirmed bid of 8m, according to the burnley forum A guy said it is on SSN. I have it on. Nothing to speak of.
Dig Dig Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 If Newcastle have bid 8M for him, I should imagine their fans will go mental and not in a good way!
S-Clarke Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 A guy said it is on SSN. I have it on. Nothing to speak of. Weird! I guess it was possibly part of their newspaper rumour roundup. Newcastle are interested in him along with us though.
pimpin4rizeal Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 the price for jay rod is a rip off id rather we go for ebanks blake much more proven
Saint Charlie Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 I think the Newcastle stuff is a wind up too. Its silly season remember...
Avenue Saint Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 id go for jay rod or maynard over ebanks blake. seb hasn't cut it in prem whereas these two are young and still could.
patred44 Posted 15 August, 2011 Author Posted 15 August, 2011 It would suit Burnley to have an auction... but I think we have a head start
Saint Fan CaM Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 Now let's think, which club/Manager would be best for Burnley to tout around as possibly in for the player to push the price up and push Cortese into a decision?! Yep, can't see NC wanting to lose out to the likes of Pardew can you? Having said that, there is no way on God's Earth that 'Jay Rod' is worth £8m - so if Pardew is willing to pay that then good luck to him.
pimpin4rizeal Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 ebank blake was much more deadly in the championship in wolves promotion season then jay rod has been so far. also is more the pacy striker we need jay rod looks more a target man
Matthew Le God Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 Apart from Patred's mate, did anyone else hear it?
dubai_phil Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 http://www.greenun24.co.uk/ipswich-town/town_were_quoted_6m_for_burnley_s_rodriguez_1_994170 Interesting For all their bluster about J Rod not being for sale, Ipswich reveal that they enquired and were told 6mil earlier in the summer Which makes the 5.5mil actually sound plausible
Saint Charlie Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 Apart from Patred's mate, did anyone else hear it? No, because it didn't exist.
TheSaint75 Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 Just check J Rod league stats for this season, 5 shots all off target, 0 on target.........last season 2nd in table with 64 & 55 respectively with 18 goals Don't know what that tells us but thought I would mention it
thorpie the sinner Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 Just had a tweet back from jez Butler, North East reporter who says that saints were told Jay Rod not for sale. Also Newcastle are bidding! a minute ago, I suppose subtefuge may be the order of the day!
Pilchards Posted 15 August, 2011 Posted 15 August, 2011 Just heard Solent sport one minute ago and they mentioned Ings and Leadbitter, so it's utter pants.
