pressingon Posted 13 August, 2011 Share Posted 13 August, 2011 A Burnley fan I know sent me this: Seems like Burnley & Southampton are going in different directions at the moment Clarets fans not had a good couple of weeks with the loss of Eagles,Mears, fox and Alexander moving on and constant rumours about Rodriguez and no major signings being made Most clarets fans dissapointed we didnt get Cork, but money talks & Burnley have a strict wage structure, which by the way are trying to lower, hence the sale of the bigger earners. I think he is a stylish player when on the ball, but he didnt seem to get involved enough, but still prefer him to be in our side than yours ! Fox had a great start to his Burnley career scoring a cracker on his debut v West Wam in the premier league so could do nothing wrong in the fans eyes for a while, but like many others tailed off in form in recent games. He likes to get forward, but on many occasions gets caught out too far forward and relies on his central defenders to get him out of difficult situations. Not too bothered that he has gone as we have a lad in the reserves who i feel is just as good,in my opinion anyway. Our biggest problem with the sale is that our board seem to be selling and Eddie not being the man who has the say as to who is being sold. Jay Rodriguez is Burnley born and bred and is our future,so if he was to be sold i dont think the fans could take it. But we know every player has his price and a bid upwards of £5M,well you never know. He is a good player and am sure he will be a great player in the premiership eventually. Good luck for the season
bender Posted 13 August, 2011 Share Posted 13 August, 2011 I passed a Burnley fan in the corridor at work yesterday and he said "ah fox, you can have him". Was more worried about J Rod
MOSaint Posted 13 August, 2011 Share Posted 13 August, 2011 Burnley fans taking the "he was **** anyway!" approach, one familiar to us when we were in decline.
SFCDan Posted 13 August, 2011 Share Posted 13 August, 2011 Burnley fans taking the "he was **** anyway!" approach, one familiar to us when we were in decline. On the claretsmad forum loads of people seemed upset about Fox leaving, saw very little of that approach.

sperm_john Posted 13 August, 2011 Share Posted 13 August, 2011 even if fox was on the down at burnley for whatever reason, he is with us now and will have a clean slate and renewed sense of confidence, how many times have crocked players got to new clubs and put in decent performances and got a bit of confidence back ...i'm not too worried burnley fans arent ranting and raving about him, because he is with a winning side now ... S-Clarke Posted 13 August, 2011 Share Posted 13 August, 2011 I hope Fox isn't ****. He isn't, he's a quality player. I've had a read through Cov fans views on him, pretty much decided amongst all of them that he was their favorite player when he was there. Was the championship LB of the year in 2009 iirc. Burnley are just being a bit bitter, like our fans were when we said stuff like ''good riddance to chambo, we have De Ridder anyway" - when we all know really that Chambo is a cut above. Fitzhugh Fella Posted 13 August, 2011 Share Posted 13 August, 2011 I have a close mate who is Clarets mad and he says Fox is great going forward but not so good defensively. Rodriguez is very much a local lad who wants to say. His father was a bit of a local hard nut apparently who used to terroise away fans on the Longside.
