dune Posted 12 August, 2011 Share Posted 12 August, 2011 I've just bought a refurbished laptop (so I can spend even more time with my forum friends) but one thing is annoying me. When I move the arrow thing and leave it too long over a link it automatically clicks it. How can I disable this so I do the clicking?
Dr Who? Posted 12 August, 2011 Share Posted 12 August, 2011 Sounds like your button is getting stuck or faulty! I cannot see anything in control panel and the mouse options!!
dune Posted 12 August, 2011 Author Share Posted 12 August, 2011 Sounds like your button is getting stuck or faulty! I cannot see anything in control panel and the mouse options!! No, it's something in the settings (i hope). It's a HP dm3 laptop and there's this mouse thing that you run your finger over to move the arrow and the two buttons just like on a mouse, but if you take your finger off the mouse arrow mover bit and then put it back on it clicks any link or highlights. Really annoying. I've tried going into mouse settings and auto select is turned off so do'nt know what to do now.

I hope you are not suggesting that one comes into contact with the sort of people that loot and riot.

Oh sorry, I forgot the right wing elite don't steal laptops from companies they use dodgy financial practices to steal money from pension funds and cause global financial crises so they can buy a new laptop, car, house, jet, etc. My mistake. JonnyLove Posted 13 August, 2011 Share Posted 13 August, 2011 It will more than likely be the accessibility settings (Basically turn them all off in the control pannel)
badgerx16 Posted 13 August, 2011 Share Posted 13 August, 2011 It's just a normal feature of most modern laptops, I blaim the (ab)user for not having the necessary dexterity to cope with modern technology. It doesn't 'automatically' click the link, it takes the act of removing and replacing the finger tip as a 'tap' - equivalent to a mouse click. Go back to your Babbage's Difference Engine. You seem to be a very angry young man. Let me guess they've closed your rapping worshop and you've decided to take your pent up aggression out on your keyboard?
