I prefer this one (though I'm not expecting the embed to work surprisingly it does) :

Saints Forever v Red N Black. Minty with the cross...

That goal should have it's own website. Plus it was scored in a Football League ground with at least one former pro playing (Jimmy Glass). You'll note I only namechecked the assister, not the scorer... ;)

Where can I find that?! I want to find my 2 screamers!!

Wallace for me even though I was there to see Delap's effort.

The Wallace goal is iconic - against the top team of the day, under floodlights, great build-up play featuring Worthington and Dennis, and then of course Wallace's bicycle kick was as classic as you could wish to see from an asthetic point of view. On top of that you've got Barry Davies' classic commentary in the days before commentators only shouted the scorers name - "Wallace, oh I say, what a magnificent goal......".

I have a copy on DVD but I think it may be in storage - and of the 7 goals scored I think only about 3 or 4 are actually on the video.

PS you did ask me for it once before on Saints Forever...

Did I? I don't even remember there being a dvd available.

Well...I think you need to get that game up on youtube! I need reminding how fit I was as a lively 16 year old!

Wallace, a total team goal epitomised by the control and pass of Frank Worthington and the great run and cross from Mark Dennis. Also why was our centre half Mark Wright still in the box?

Unfortunately my laptop finally went bang about 3 days ago so I may need to do some installing of various editing tools on the missus' PC first...

7 and a half, it must have been after March 2004 because of who went there with me. Actually I found the match programme 2 weeks ago as well.

What was that Keegan goal actually disallowed for?

To quote Brian Moore at the end of the video, "Offside against David Armstrong". He was beyond the last defender even though the ball went well over his head and he was never going to be able to influence it - and even arguing that he was in the keeper(Paul Cooper presumably)'s line of sight (which is relevant to offside now and has been for nearly 30 years) was neither here nor there at the time.

This was back when anyone beyond the last defender even on the opposite side of the pitch could be flagged offside, before the whole "interfering with play" thing was made relevant in the early/mid 80s, and then in 1994 expanded beyond all sense with the introduction of phases of play which basically allowed goal-hanging until the final ball (viz. Romario World Cup '94).

Back then managers could get away with nonsense such as "if he's not interfering with play, what's he doing on the pitch?".

Anyone remember the overhead kick Danny Higginbotham scored against the Skates in the 2-1 FA Cup win? (crouch, last minute penalty). Amazing goal, just as good as Delaps but hit across the goal into the far corner only for the Lino to judge Kenwyne was offside and interfering with play. Can't find footage of it anywhere!

I won a fair bit of money on Delap being the first goal-scorer that day! Had been slagging him off so much prior to the game that had a feeling he would surprise me! So Delap for me, purely because he won me money!

All excellent goals, Danny's was a friday night if i remember live on BBC1, and the fact he out jumped Hanson(?) for the 2nd made it laughable, but come on Delaps was just pure class so much power, actually too skillful for Rory but credit where its due

Give him video of the game and finally he might admit that I gave him his second goal instead of moaning that he had to stretch for the ball!!!!!!

OH and equal for me, Wallace hit it true but not as powerful, Delap's is powerful but off the shin :-)

I see what you did there.

I was fortunate to be at all three matches, incl KK's.

The KK goal is a personal favourite of mine.

Of the other two, DW's was a better team goal with brilliance from Frankie Wortho and Mark Dennis, but Delap's is a bit more acrobatic and have more venom in the shot. So Delap of the two.

Great clip though, demonstrating that Mark Dennis,on form, was the greatest ever left back we've had in my 40+ years of watching Saints.

For me it's this one.

Hardly in the same league as the previous goals but important all the same.......

The power and shear beauty of Delaps edges it for me, however the fact that Wallace follows the ball shows and repositions himself shows it wasn't an instinctive lunge and demonstrates the skill the little fella had.

For me its Danny all the way, this was the match that made me a saints fan watching it live on a friday night around my grans, I remember watching and thinking, thought Liverpool were sposed to be good, the fact is, it was a great goal, great performance, and it was some of the best times to be a saints fan, any of this sound familiar, we are living good times right now fellow saints. This prompted me to get the 85 shirt, and get two bits of white fabric cut into the number 11 stitched on my back. Proper hardcore, lol, now my son found this shirt the other day and is now wearing it, he loves it, almost as much as the current kit.

Thankyou Danny W, for that wonder strike, you created a love affair with the saints that will never ever die for me.
