am looking at getting Sky but don't really want to fork out for both SS1 and SS2 if i can help it. Are Saints games always on a certain channel (ie,only on SS1 ) or do they tend to switch them between the two? (sometimes on SS1 ,other times on SS2)...

thanks in advance, and yes I AM aware that I'm tight! :D

am liking the look of BT Vision to be honest...too many cr4p channels on Sky that i would NEVER watch....with the BT option you're only tied in to the sports channel for a minimum of a month, so thats great for me (I'd only watch Saints games,so it's such a waste of money to pay EVERY month otherwise.....)

thanks for the advice gents....:)

I thought it was a minimum 2-year contract for BT Vision? Maybe my mistake.

If you're a fan of HD, might be worth mentining that you'd miss out on having the footie in HD with BT Vision.

Sky Sports is possibly the best purchase for a Sports fan to make in their lifetime.

If you like golf, cricket, football, formula 1 (from 2012) and Rugby there really isn't anywhere else to go to see all of it. The little money a month is amazing value for how much sport you get. Just this week i've watched 5 football matches (Saints v Leeds, Wimbledon v Bristol Rovers, Blackpool v Hull, Sheff Wed v Blackpool, Wales v Australia and West Ham v Cardiff, I've watched the US PGA golf and the England v India third test match at Edgbaston.

Sky go is very good' it's free and crystal clear! I use via laptop and use hdmi lead to tv. I use my dads account.

This is what I do. If you have a good friend or family member that has sky and doesn't mind you using their log on details, you can stream the sports channells through your laptop and on to your tv. Or you can stream through an xbox which is provides a much better quality picture.

Considering how many fans no longer live near the ground surely the clubs could make a lot of money selling virtual tickets to watch every saints game on a live stream. ****es me off to only be able to see like one game a month on Sky.

This has been done in Italy. Unlike the Premiership, where the rights are sold collectively, Italian clubs could handle their own media and effectively show every game. Problem was, it wasn't just the far-flung exiles that took advantage of the service. Attendances dropped.

When I was on holiday in France a couple of weeks ago my accomodation had cable TV including a German Sports Channel where you could get a season ticket on German SKY for the Bundersleague coverage for 29 euros for the season which made what SKY charge us here expensvie.

For precisely nowt you can watch all of that for nothing via streams on the web. I dropped Sky HD altogether in 2009 and aside from having saved myself about £1700 in the meantime (I was paying about £70 pcm) I haven't missed anything I want to watch. HD is fine but adds pretty much nothing to the experience other than the ability to see whether players have hair gel or wax, and 3D is a total gimmick that hardly lends itself to football anyway.

Best of all, I'm not watching so much tv, because I no longer have the Planner recording everything and don't need to find hours to watch stuff I'm only saving in case I get bored anyway.

As it happens I also had BT Vision from 2007-2009 for the spare room, and the bloody box spent 50% of the time failing to switch itself on with BT's tech staff possibly the rudest IT staff ever (and I used to manage a team of them), though I did like their power cable based network boosters.
