Windmill Arm 2 Posted 11 August, 2011 Share Posted 11 August, 2011 Great.....but what exactly does 'contract' mean in football? He could sign on the Monday and slap in a transfer request on Tuesday.
niceandfriendly Posted 12 August, 2011 Share Posted 12 August, 2011 Great.....but what exactly does 'contract' mean in football? He could sign on the Monday and slap in a transfer request on Tuesday. I guess it just means that we won't lose him on in the cheap, and that he's at least pretty keen to stay. He wouldn't sign otherwise (if true). Cabrone Posted 12 August, 2011 Share Posted 12 August, 2011 Good to keep him on as he's young and still has potential to develop but definitely needs to show more ambition on the pitch. Currently behind Cork\Hammond\Chaplow.
Lazlo78 Posted 12 August, 2011 Share Posted 12 August, 2011 Good news. If NA can keep all four CM's happy, we're quite well off in that department...
The9 Posted 12 August, 2011 Share Posted 12 August, 2011 So, the 5 year plan is now a 3 year plan? Excellent I've always wondered if years 3-5 were intended to be either "Championship Promotion, Premier League relegation, Championship Promotion with mid-table Prem players" or "Championship Promotion, Prem struggle but survive, Prem strengthen"
The9 Posted 12 August, 2011 Share Posted 12 August, 2011 I still think he has the potential to be our best central midfielder. Better than Cork even. Tying him down to a long term contract will stop vultures seeing him as a cheap signing. Granted that Hammond, Cork and Chappers are in better form at this moment in time, but we must remember he was out quite a long time at the tail end of last season. Give him the time and the experience to develop, and he could be here for years to come. Which is exactly what we don't want from any players who aren't up to the task, which he certainly hasn't been in pre-season. Difficult to find the balance between keeping players on improved wages and keeping too many that we don't need. If we actually got into the Prem possibly half the current squad would be completely out of their depth - and some of them have just got new deals. Not that having a new contract means anything much in football other than more pay for as long as you stick around.
disintegration87 Posted 12 August, 2011 Share Posted 12 August, 2011 Lets be honest, with Morgan keeping Chaplow out the starting 11, overall we are a really good looking football team.

SamKimish Posted 12 August, 2011 Share Posted 12 August, 2011 He's about 5th choice in midfield on current form, I'm not sure how you can come to that conclusion. FIFTH?! Behind who exactly? I can understand arguments for him being behind Cork, Hammond and possibly even Chaplow, but who is this mystery fourth centre midfielder?! Gordon Mockles Posted 12 August, 2011 Share Posted 12 August, 2011 I like the idea of Cotese as President lol I don't, realising you're being 'tongue in cheek'. Whilst he runs the club well, I've had enough of the global elite and bankers governing. Time to give the banks back to the people. Then maybe our economoy won't fail like it is and hyper inflation....OOPS! Back to football. Great news if true. He and Jose were my next main concerns for re-signing contracts. Key to us, more so Fonte.

A female friends 'would you' ratings... Kelvin - Maybe Frazer 'Forearms' Richardson - Yes Jose Fonte - Double YES Martin - Yes...apparently. (My missus seems to like him too) Fox - Yes Dickson - 'awww cuuute' so yes Morgan - Yes Cork - Yes Hammond - Yes Lambert - Yes Lallana - Apparently theres 'something about him' so yes Not a bad starting 11 of 'do-ables' if Lallana is upfront and Hammond on the right. Either that or she's just easy.

Whilst we certainly have a better looking squad than the former Manchester United front line, I think the clue is in the response & your "female" friend may like c*ck a bit too much. Lallana gives that away. Lol Having said that, while maybe not high in the dignity stakes, at least she's honest!
