Maynard is coming

Yet more wishful thinking. If we were going to sign anyone of such significance it should have been done in June.

What a sad and deluded world you live in.

The only positive thing I have ever heard you say was about Hoddle. Still banging on about that one are you?

Dalek thinks transfers are completed like on Football Manager, only taking a day or two. Bless him.

No, just that we should have got the players in early so that we were ready for the start of the season. We will get impression of our ability after 6 games, far too early to hang out the bunting.

Anyway, has Maynard signed yet ?

For those on my TL suggesting #lcfc are the bigger and better club. #saints have plenty of ambition and cash. A cracking youth setup. The club (#saints) is going places. I predict playoffs, at worst.

You realise we won on the opening day of the season, right?

And that we won on Tuesday, correct? Couldn't have been too far away from being "ready". Obvious WUM is obvious.

Sorry, but for the totally unitiated (twits) twitterers, who exactly is ITKagent1962?

Is there any credibility to these sources at all? Just asking as I have no idea why everybody seems to be getting so excited over a rumour that could have spread from anywhere really.

None whatsoever, you or I could create an account in seconds under any given name and make up bullsh!t to our heart's content.

There are obviously a few who have form with being proved right (fourth official is decent) but many, many of them of are just whackos looking for a bit of attention.

A fellow hack and friend of mine supports Bristol City and is quite close to people at the Club having worked for them a few years ago. I asked what he thought about the possibility of signing him for £4.2 million...

Looks like it's just come from a couple of those pretend agent accounts on twitter rather than the real one. Might be just cos you got a lot of money from selling that lad to Arsenal, or could be true. Mind you the ****fest he put on against Ipswich I can't see him staying around long - looked like he couldn't wait to leave! If £4.2m includes a decent left back and centre back, and providing he doesn't suddenly get interested, i'm in the mood to drive the knob down there myself"

Cheers for posting that... How on the button is fouth_official? I've not kept tabs on his predictions...

I'm led to believe we're still in for Jay Rodriguez

He seems to know his stuff. God knows where he's getting it from. He usually says things right before they happen, or he makes a call on a possible a few days in advance and it comes to fruition.

Don't really know how much we can read into Maynard's attitude as my friend reported. I'm not massively excited about the possibility of signing him I have to say - I would much rather have Ebanks-Blake.

As for Jay Rodriguez, don't know enough about him. I imagine Burnley will be holding out for a hefty fee - is Fox worth the £2 million that we apparently paid for him? From what I've seen of him, I'm not all that sure. They most likely wanted to price us out of a move but we were willing to meet their inflated demands.

Adkins has already confirmed they were going to spend a significant amount regardless of Chamberlain leaving or not.

I remember him saying we were looking to get 2 or 3 players in. Don't remember a quote saying we'd be spending significant amounts.

I think we've shown we're willing to spend significant amounts regardless of Chambo's situation, as we bid 3.25m for Billy Sharp.

If the plan was to sell aoc beforehand then no we did not.

There was no plan to sell Alex, we didn't want to sell and we didn't need to. Things have been going in the BG irespective of Chambo's situation. Fact. (listen to Adkins on that)

Also, what we're doing now is what we did in L1. We targeted the best league 1 striker we could get, and pulled the rabbit out of the hat with Lambo. Everyone sat up and took notice of that.

Our intentions are to do the same this year, I'm pretty convicted by it. Excited too.

Me too, I can see plenty of gaols this year.

Is Maynard actually worth this sort of money? I honestly don't know too much about him, his stats (for what its worth), don't look amazing, but he's obviously got something that has caught various club's eyes. Lot of money to pay out though.

In Nigel we trust. Cant see him and NC splashing the cash on somebody who couldnt dajfu.

And I have to say, if Cortese and Adkins really want him, we're quite likely to get him imho. According to plenty of sources, Cork wasnt ever going to sign for us.....until he did.....

Ah ha....

So perhaps a p/ex. They get Mills & Seaborne we get Maynard. Wonder if they would like Puncheon as well..... They'd owe us about 75 quid after all that
