We took our usual seats for the Leeds game, noticing that the seat next to us was empty. An young chinese guy moved along to the seat, holding the seat ticket a camera and wearing a signed Saints shirt. He took about 20 photos before kick off, and we settled down to watch the game.

First goal and my son and I are jumping up and down, high fiving and shouting. The next goal and we are hugging each other, in between jumping up and down. We sit down for half time, as the chinese guy goes down to the pitchside for more photo opportunities. Second half and we watch the third goal, go in. I glance to my left and my son is hugging the Chinese guy and jumping up and down.

"What was that about, mate?" I asked my son, smiling.

"He was watching us hugging each other for the second goal, Dad and it looked like he wanted to join in, as he came on his own, so I thought I'd better give him a hug for the third goal."

Trouble with hugging a Chinese, is that you feel like doing it again 10 minutes later!

Thats the same as when you get a chinese takeaway from the pubic triangle in Bur Dubai 20 mins after you finish you have to go and get another one.

Eric or D_P could possibly offer more enlightenment to this :)

I think you should point out to your son that hugging strange men with cameras is not encouraged.

I have mostly saved hugging strangers for moments like the 3rd at the JPT Final, or the 2nd against MK Dons, or opener at Plymouth. I like them to be a little more spontaneous. Though I did bundle the bloke in the row in front a bit when the second went in on Saturday because I tripped over the back of his seat when jumping up and down with the wife*.

*don't bother.

I think Guided Missile was using the phrase "Touching Story" in the literal sense only.

I have something similar.

Last night I decided to attend the Torquay match, but frustratingly my friends couldn't make it, so I went on my own.

Anyway, I took my seat next to an angry looking bloke and some div kid. I assumed they were lovers as they kept hugging. Anyway, soon enough we were 2-1 up, and I was taking pictures of everything I could. Towards the end, this kid started giving me the eye, like proper "come on's", so I started edging closer. Then my moment came, Chappers got the 3rd, the kid turned and hugged me, and I touched his little willy.

What a great night.

actually ..the way you told it GM...reminded me of the scene at the end of " Notting Hill " where the Japanese businessman

kisses the hotel clerk on the cheek...(as if he were conforming to part of the British culture....)... HAHA

The only time Ive ever been hugged at a match whas when Chappers scored against man u. The guy behind me threw his arms round my neck and screamed, I remember thinking "christ i hope theres nobody photographing this, I could end up in Up the arse corner in viz"

Theres a full on 'gay off' in block 41 when we score.

Hugs with the row in front and behind. It's lovely, if a little painful!

I do find amusing that moment after a big goal when everything calms down and you and the skinhead in the row in front have to stop basically holding hands whilst firing off manly shouts like "get in there you f***ing Saints" to try and 'man' the moment up a bit.

Ages ago went to the Newcastle game at the last minute with a spare ticket, I only knew one of the four other lads. When Paul Telfer scored to seal the game at 3-1 the lad next to me, who had not said much in the way of conversation, was going wild threw his arms round me and with water in his eyes declared "I have never actually seen Saints win when I have been at the game!".

Good story GM. Was the Chinese guys name Ting-Tong by any chance? (;

Last season I sat next to Leon Crouch and after we scored a wonder goal, forgetting where I was, I turned and half hugged, half shook him...he was not overly impressed. (:

One of the strangest posts I've ever read on this forum.

How did you know the guy in front of me that I hug and hold hands with as a skinhead? You stalking me?
