What are you listening to?

What a phenomenal band they are. They're going to be huge very, very soon

I only realised today that they're playing at Glastonbury on the John Peel stage. Could be the gig that launches them over here. Very excited about it.

I've not really listened to any new music in the last few years, i've pursued a bit of a 60s/70s love affair mostly listening to the Beatles, Stones, Grateful Dead, Otis Redding, Curtis Mayfield, Nick Drake... Having spent the last couple of days listening to some of the bands breaking into the scene at the moment I have to say i'm massively impressed! The likes of Peace, Daughter, Savages, Tom Odell, Palma Violets...all really great. Exciting few years to come in British music I think!

If you can listen to this without feeling like you're a playa, then you probs need to get your playa mechanism checked out. Not sure if they do it on the NHS.

Beast.

There's some really great stuff kicking about at the moment. I made a huge spotify playlist of just random new bands, and managed to stumble across some great stuff.

I saw Peace last week, they were amazing. They had a band called superfood who were supporting. Well worth checking out. Also, Peace's friends from Brumtown Swim Deep, are brilliant. Seeing them in a few weeks, cannot wait.

I'd also really recommend Childhood, who are mates with Palma Violets. They were supporting Palmas in Brixton a few weeks back, and I was really impressed. I'm not sure if they are playing Glasto (I'm bitter at not going so haven't properly checked the lineup) but if they are I'd give them a go, me and my mate both really thought they would be a great festival act.

If you're interested I'll share that playlist, there's some dodgy stuff in there, but I basically just added a load of stuff for whilst I'm travelling about with work, which I seem to be doing loads at the moment. Dune Rats are a particular highlight thus far.

Yeah I think so. They've been picked up by Mumford & Sons and toured with them a lot and they're getting radio play now. If they're any good live (I'll see at Glastonbury, and in London a few days before) then they'll be right up the lineup next year.

I've been listening to this on repeat all day:

Love a bit of Swim Deep. The Sea is a great song! Seems to be a massive 90s revival going on at the moment.

I'll check out those recommendations, also a cheeky share of that playlist would be good. Sounds like there's a lot I still haven't discovered!

Love Nick Drake, especially that album. One of my all time favourites.

I just went through loads of recommended and related artists on Spotify I had heard before, some of it isn't great, but I haven't had a chance to edit out the crap yet.

I'll try PM you the link now.

Not quite sure I understand the "instead" part.

I was recommending a tune fit for a playa. While your contribution is very interesting, and I'll probably listen to it again, not exactly going to be my "ho honeytrap". (how many have you snared with this?)

I see. Well, it is an instrumental piece so perhaps you could do a PapRapTM over the top? Specially themed lyrics to snare your ladies.

It's been a minor success for me, although I have been more successful with a reggae version of 'Kiss From A Rose' that I knocked up myself. The ladies become easier to spread than Utterly Butterly after hearing that.

Manji doesn't like my music taste. I don't like his avatar. So nyeh.

I can see, he disagree's with me too. Though, I think we have broadly similar tastes.

Errrm, sorry about that playlist. A lot is a bit naff. Hadn't listened to most of it before putting it in there. There's some good stuff, but yeah, a fair amount of dross.

Some really terrible grammar on display in that first sentence there mate. Sort it out...

Haha yeah there is a lot of relatively naff stuff, some not so bad though! Childhood and LULS are decent.

Random Access Memories, the new Daft Punk album.

If you havn't listened yet, don't bother. It's dull. Not even for a Daft Punk album, just generally a really dull album.

I'm heartbroken.

How many times have you listened to it?

How many times have you listened to it?

Twice today.

Dunno if I'll bother again. Harsh perhaps, but is just so far from what you want from a Daft Punk album.

It's slow, dull, lacking the signature electro beats, the robot voices, worst of all - it just isn't dancey (Get Lucky aside).

Have you listened?
