I'm going to lose some, maybe all, of you with this one. In the past week I've gotten into these guys in a big way.

I don't know how best to describe it, other than they are just bats hit mental, out there and odd. There's no one else even close to them. They are really dark, which I like, and at times quite eerie.

A new album by Eric Burdon - 'Til Your River Runs Dry. It's a really solid effort. Most of the songs co-written by Eric. Familiar themes, crack band, varied styles - but set in an electric blues-rock format dominated by guitar, piano and hammond organ.

Believe it or not, my mates brother did the animations in this video. The famous cyriak Harris.

Really excited about the new album due on 1st April. Got tickets to see him and his band live in Sheffield on 21st May as well.

Anna von Hausswolff - Ceremony

She hates the comparison, but the similarities between Ms. Hausswolff and Kate Bush are too many to ignore. Her first album showcased her beautiful voice and her excellent song-writing skills as a more stripped-back effort. Her latest album though is far from stripped back. She recorded it in a vast church, and the acoustics sound great. The album is very organ-y which serves to portray the main theme - grief.

It's not driving music, but with some good headphones/speakers, the album speaks volumes.

Oh yeah mosh pit with eric at our age

Good pic... I was down the front at Heaton Park, unfortunately it was a bit of a crush, I only managed to get one photo, during the opener, before it became impossible to get to my phone again. Not as good as yours!!

Electric - the new CD from Richard Thompson. Another excellent album - even better than his last few!

Gonna see him live in two weeks - he's on the same bill with Emmylou Harris. Wow!

Any regular visitors to The Arts forum may be aware of me banging on about this band Peace.

I have seriously not been as excited by a new band since the days of '05, and trawling through fan pages finding dodgy Arctic Monkeys demo's.

Anyways, they seem to be on something of a roll at the minute, and spearheading Birmingham's assault on the music scene.

Debut album In Love is up on NME if anyone cares to give it a listen, I will be doing so, on repeat, possibly for ever.

Saw them supporting Savages at the Joiners mediocre. Savages superb.

Indeed, I saw your comment (& replied) on the gig thread.

Thought it was a tadd harsh. I like them.

Fair enough tough, would be dull if we all liked the same stuff :)

p.s I do bloody love Savages.

Yeah but the Violets are just a very average Indie guitar band. Havnt we had enough of them ?

The new Bonobo album - released yesterday.

I was eagerly anticipating this release but having listened to it all the way through twice now, I'm sorry to say it is very disappointing compared to his previous work.

I gave short shrift to the Pixies at the time, largely on account of being a metalhead which can be a bit exclusive in the early years.

This is a great song, Doolittle a great album - some other stone cold classics on that one too. Think I like "Hey" the best.

Fair enough if that's how you feel about them.

I'm a big indie fan, and think they are better than average. For me, someone like The Vaccines are a generic average band, their success I find completely baffling. They offer absolutely nothing different whatsoever.

I think Palma's have a slightly different sound to a lot of other bands. I also really like the dual-frontman dynamic, and juxtaposition of a hyper-energetic shouty type, with a more nonchalant 'singer' (i'm not claiming either have the greatest singing voices ever).

I also love the energy in their live performances. This is of course just my opinion, it would be dull if we all thought the same about everything.

Surely it would just be easier and it wouldn't occur to anyone that things might be otherwise. I'd be all in favour of that kind of set-up.
