badgerx16 Posted 19 November, 2012 Posted 19 November, 2012 Just listened on I-Player to an adaptation of 'On the Beach' by Nevil Shute. Very poignant, and the end of the world kicks off with war in the Middle East :-(
Seany S Posted 19 November, 2012 Posted 19 November, 2012 Been listening to the new Action Bronson/Alchemist mixtape, the brilliantly named "Rare Chandeliers". More effortlessly cool rhyming from Bronsolini, and perhaps the finest cover artwork of any hip hop release in living memory.
Jonnyboy Posted 19 November, 2012 Posted 19 November, 2012 The israelis and gazans should have a good old mosh together:
pap Posted 19 November, 2012 Posted 19 November, 2012 On that note, get on with it Art Brut. Some outrageous claims in there, including one about Israel and Palestine. Personally, I don't think moshing is the answer. Send the lot of them to Ibiza and get them off their tits on MDMA in mixed raves. As crazy as that sounds, I've got a mate in Northern Ireland who reckons that the 90s drug culture in Northern Ireland did more to bring about a change of attitudes than anything else.
Hamilton Saint Posted 20 November, 2012 Posted 20 November, 2012 The new double-CD release from Neil Young and Crazy Horse; it's called Psychedelic Pill. This is excellent - especially if you appreciate the long, lead-guitar improvisations he gets into when playing with Crazy Horse. His guitar - a 1953 Gibson Les Paul ("Old Black") - has never sounded better!
RonManager Posted 21 November, 2012 Posted 21 November, 2012 Mumford and Sons - They're certainly not my cup of tea, but WTF! - say what you mean. http://www.thedailyswarm.com/headlines/s-some-rage-angriest-mumford-sons-review-ever/
EastleighSoulBoy Posted 21 November, 2012 Posted 21 November, 2012 Marvin Gaye's - Unbelievable album, which finally escaped the vaults in 1997.
KelvinsRightGlove Posted 21 November, 2012 Posted 21 November, 2012 Mumford and Sons - They're certainly not my cup of tea, but WTF! - say what you mean. http://www.thedailyswarm.com/headlines/s-some-rage-angriest-mumford-sons-review-ever/ Tehehehehehe. That certainly tickled me
dinger Posted 22 November, 2012 Posted 22 November, 2012 Mumford and Sons - They're certainly not my cup of tea, but WTF! - say what you mean. http://www.thedailyswarm.com/headlines/s-some-rage-angriest-mumford-sons-review-ever/ That was refreshing. They are shower of qunts and no mistake.
KelvinsRightGlove Posted 23 November, 2012 Posted 23 November, 2012 Obsessed with Dylan Baldi at the moment. Saw Cloud Nothings few weeks ago and was blown away. Been listening to Attack on Memory since it came out. Also, cannot stop listening to his other band Chomp, and their album Buddha Jabba Momma (awful name, I know) is probs one of my faves of the year.

dinger Posted 24 November, 2012 Posted 24 November, 2012 Raime-Quarter Turns Over A Living Line Holly Herndon-Movement Alcest-Les Voyages De L'ame Ha! I was about to post some Holly Herndon. That album's fantastic.
badgerx16 Posted 24 November, 2012 Posted 24 November, 2012 Mumford and Sons - They're certainly not my cup of tea, but WTF! - say what you mean. http://www.thedailyswarm.com/headlines/s-some-rage-angriest-mumford-sons-review-ever/ Love the comment underneath : " This band are The Wurzels without the seething sexual undercurrent."
miserableoldgit Posted 24 November, 2012 Posted 24 November, 2012 Love the comment underneath : " This band are The Wurzels without the seething sexual undercurrent." TBF I am a "folky" and I have no time for these people. Sent from my HTC Desire S using Tapatalk 2
melmacian_saint Posted 26 November, 2012 Posted 26 November, 2012 Such a feel good/look forward song.
KelvinsRightGlove Posted 26 November, 2012 Posted 26 November, 2012 Such a feel good/look forward song. Got a mate really into this lot with this track. He saw them at Leeds Festival and said they were fantastic, could see them as potential festival headliners he said. Have to say I was a bit disappointed with the album, but only really gave it the one listen so perhaps being a little harsh.
Crazy Diamond Posted 26 November, 2012 Posted 26 November, 2012 Rocky Mountain Way by Joe Walsh. Only good song he did if you ask me... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qF2OP_gFsz4
SuperMikey Posted 26 November, 2012 Posted 26 November, 2012 Such a feel good/look forward track. Meh. Take one part Beirut, one part Slow Club and one part Mumford, blend it up and you get the pure averageness of this band. It's quite a catchy tune, but that style of folky, quirky music is so de rigeur now that you've got to produce something special to stand out.
LVSaint Posted 27 November, 2012 Posted 27 November, 2012 Discovered via Forza Horizon. If you've a single rock bone in your body, you'll love this. Lazy Eye by Silversun Pickups. Conspiracy hat on. Don't think it's a coincidence that they have the same initials as Smashing Pumpkins Building, soaring exploration of a single riff. Stunning. A fav of mine on Rock Band Drunk.
dinger Posted 27 November, 2012 Posted 27 November, 2012 Robert Hood - Minimal Nation It never gets old.
Block 5 Posted 29 November, 2012 Posted 29 November, 2012 Ian Neal - All in the Golden Afternoon I don't know if any of you like prog-rock, but the above album sits quite comfortably at the 'feelgood' end of the prog spectrum. It's only mildly pretentious and is really rather good in a warm, tummy-rubbing kind of way. You can listen to the whole album (and his more recent effort) at his website http://www.ianneal.com/ I recommend 'Kingdom of the Birds' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sLOtPYcZI8A
Block 5 Posted 29 November, 2012 Posted 29 November, 2012 Smokin' at the Half Note (1965) - Wes Montgomery (guitar) with the Wynton Kelly Trio. On Verve Records. Some of the good stuff....
KelvinsRightGlove Posted 30 November, 2012 Posted 30 November, 2012 Michael Jackson + Reggae + Bifta = sorted Is this new? Will the next album be MJ? Seen them a couple of times, always great fun. I love these guys.
pap Posted 1 December, 2012 Posted 1 December, 2012 Is this new? Will the next album be MJ? Seen them a couple of times, always great fun. I love these guys. Don't know, tbh. Got a couple of mates who are into the same sort of music as me that'll send me links. Very cool though; love their version of Vincent Price's voiceover.

KelvinsRightGlove Posted 2 December, 2012 Posted 2 December, 2012 Elvis Costello - My Aim is True Buzzcocks - Another music in a Different Kitchen One of my favourite albums of all time

Shroppie Posted 6 December, 2012 Posted 6 December, 2012 Handel's Messiah whilst booking tickets for Springsteen. Good to have broad taste.
Joe Kirkup Posted 6 December, 2012 Posted 6 December, 2012 One of my favourite songs ever. Brilliant 80s pop
SuperMikey Posted 11 December, 2012 Posted 11 December, 2012 People seem to be going a bit nuts over Kendrick Lamar, thought i'd check him out. Not overly impressed, but I like this track. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DTz_K__9L2A&feature=youtube_gdata_player
dinger Posted 11 December, 2012 Posted 11 December, 2012 JK Flesh - Posthuman. Bit of a grower, but develops over a few listens into a multiplication of its parts. Lovely noise.

Not overly impressed, but I like this track. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DTz_K__9L2A&feature=youtube_gdata_player Not usually a massive hip-hop fan, though I quite like Kendrick Lamar. Though, I did hear this morning he is going to be on Dido's next album. Just strikes me as all sorts of odd. Been working my way through the Drowned in Sound Albums of the year list, trying to catch up on albums I missed. Really enjoyed How to Dress Well, Japandroids & The Lost Rivers efforts so far.

KelvinsRightGlove Posted 13 December, 2012 Posted 13 December, 2012 She's just ****!ng amazing. So consistently brilliant.

He's on Lady Gaga's next single too. Went mainstream pretty quick!
KelvinsRightGlove Posted 13 December, 2012 Posted 13 December, 2012 He's on Lady Gaga's next single too. Went mainstream pretty quick! I'm going to just come right out with this. I love Gaga.
SuperMikey Posted 15 December, 2012 Posted 15 December, 2012 I'm going to just come right out with this. I love Gaga. Get out.
KelvinsRightGlove Posted 16 December, 2012 Posted 16 December, 2012 Get out. Haha. Look, I get she's not for everyone. But, she's the best at what she does. She's taken pop by the scruff of the neck, and now everyone is scrambling around trying to be like her. She's also a fantastic performer and musician.
SuperMikey Posted 16 December, 2012 Posted 16 December, 2012 Haha. Look, I get she's not for everyone. But, she's the best at what she does. She's taken pop by the scruff of the neck, and now everyone is scrambling around trying to be like her. She's also a fantastic performer and musician. I agree actually. Pop music had really stagnated before she came along, just a succession of RnB tracks from young women. I'm not really a huge fan of Gaga's music, but I quite like that she doesn't seem to give a fück about her actions. Smoking weed onstage, fighting paps... She's a bit of old school rock and roll in a sanitised time where record companies think music won't sell unless the performer is a squeaky-clean Aryan choir-boy.
