OK so this lot were in town tonight. I thought I only knew one of their songs.

Went with FMDP & EoA. it was gonna be a zoo trying to get a taxi after so we went to the bar.

And stone me, the band came in. What a farking great bunch of lads. So a big shout out to Troy and the lads. And obviously an early alarm call to get Amy out of my room in time for her flight to Beirut tomorrow

They finish their gig in Russia later this week, BUT if they pop up on your radar in the UK and you like Rock, get to see them. bloody great show and great bunch of lads

My favourite band. Period.

Having missed their show at the O2 academy last November I am delighted they are performing at the NIA latter this year.

Been listening to Frank Ocean's Channel Orange now for weeks, it is a beautiful piece of work.

Also been returning to the Nirvana "With The Lights Out" compilation, interesting hearing some of the old demos and rarities, and always a treat blasting out "Oh, The Guilt" at full volume.

Can's Lost Tapes - hit and miss in places (as you would expect) but some real gems, midnight men being a standout track.

There's some cracking stuff on there. I was particularly interested to hear more Mooney material.

Been listening to a ton of German stuff recently while preparing a podcast about the krautrock scene (I'm a bit of an obsessive, as my user name will attest to). This lunchtime I've been on Das Hohelied Salomos, by Popul Vuh. Beautiful album.

Mate of mine sent me this via Spotify.

Brother Ali, albino rapper who is a devout Muslim. If you are not bouncing in your chair at 50 seconds, there is something wrong with you*.

* or possibly me, but we'll assume you for now :D

Colin, what do you make of their latest album ? ( And as for DP's video link - I think the album version of My Immortal is much better than the commercial single ).

Swans - The Seer. Astounding album.

Can't do the whole two hours in one sitting and find myself skipping tracks but excellent album on the whole - reminds me of when I first heard Godspeed You Black Emperor for the first time, albeit with a scuzzier, heavier sound.

I was not having a great day.

But it just got worse and I want to cancel my life.

How did it all come to this?

It appears I am on the exclusive "Get your Justin Bieber Concert Tickets a week before anyone else" mailing list

The shame of it.

May 4th Next year.

Bloody good day to go to Saudi, Yemen, Afghanistan, Syria. Anywhere but farking Dubai

For anyone who lives in, or knows, or loves, Dorset.

White chalk hills are all Ive known.

White chalk hills will rot my bones.

White chalk sticking to my shoes.

White chalk playing as a child with you.

White chalk south against time.

White chalk cutting down the sea at Lyme.

I walk the valleys by the Cerne,

on a path cut fifteen hundred years ago,

and I know, these chalk hills will rot my bones.

Dorsets cliffs meet at the sea,

where I walked, our unborn child in me.

White chalk, gorse-scattered land,

scratched my palms, theres blood on my hands.

Discovered via Forza Horizon.

If you've a single rock bone in your body, you'll love this. Lazy Eye by Silversun Pickups. Conspiracy hat on. Don't think it's a coincidence that they have the same initials as Smashing Pumpkins :)

Building, soaring exploration of a single riff. Stunning.
