Hamilton Saint Posted 14 February, 2012 Posted 14 February, 2012 New Leonard Cohen album - Old Ideas. Excellent. Better than the last two.
dinger Posted 14 February, 2012 Posted 14 February, 2012 Ital - Hive Mind. S'laaaahrvley. All wonky bisexual dub sounds. Quite Orb in places. This release carries the 'Ringing Dinger' endorsement.
miserableoldgit Posted 14 February, 2012 Posted 14 February, 2012 Ital - Hive Mind. S'laaaahrvley. All wonky bisexual dub sounds. Quite Orb in places. This release carries the 'Ringing Dinger' endorsement. Nope. Tried Babelfish. Still don`t understand!

Hamilton Saint Posted 15 February, 2012 Posted 15 February, 2012 The Unthanks - best pigeon racing song ever! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=am4wgh859Og June Tabor's version is awesome.
dinger Posted 17 February, 2012 Posted 17 February, 2012 Oren Ambarchi - Audience of One. Quietly intense, minimal electronic drone-jazz (w/occasional crooning). A beautiful, personal album from someone who can often be vibrantly abstract. Another dinger donger.
Julian H. Cope Posted 17 February, 2012 Author Posted 17 February, 2012 Gang Colours - The Keychain Collection.

Lord Duckhunter Posted 24 February, 2012 Posted 24 February, 2012 At last I've got some music by someone who is now under 50, I think these guys are great,
badgerx16 Posted 25 February, 2012 Posted 25 February, 2012 (edited) Another spell of Arch Enemy - Angela Gossow is the best looking death metal vocalist I've seen, mind you that's isn't difficult. Edited 25 February, 2012 by badgerx16
dubai_phil Posted 26 February, 2012 Posted 26 February, 2012 OK an update - you guys were great with your advice. Yes I saw James Blunt. Yes he was really good. (In my defence I did keep a scorecard in the all you can drink Box this year so plead 14 glasses of Tattinger & 5 double VodkaRedBulls as my defence. And one awful mistake - poured a triple Red Label on the Rocks into a half drunk Vodka Red Bull & gulped - don't EVER make that mistake) TBF to him he did acknowledge the poor suffering Hubbies/Boyfriends who had been dragged along & apologised to us. Strange this place has gone gig mad next 3 weeks. We have a World Music festival Amr Diab, George Benson & Gabrielle amongst other names in the week long line up, clashing with Duran Duran David Guetta Snow Patrol Calvin Harris The Eagles etc. The big lolage though? Madonna is coming.... No really...... In JUNE.... For an OUTDOOR gig. Normal June temperatures are around 42C with 80% Humidity. Her pre-sale tickets sold out in 10 minutes which for here is a record. 50 quid to stand in a sauna for two hours listening to Madge while wedged in amongst 20,000 people.. Feck that I'm going to Italy We are slowly getting some local bands up and running Beat Antenna played support for Kasabian last week Will find a few others [video=youtube;bAds-cQrfYA]
dubai_phil Posted 26 February, 2012 Posted 26 February, 2012 Oh for those that like a bit more noise with their music, these lads made it back in the day. Played the X Games & were live on ESPN worldwide (lol) even got a top 20 on Audio Street Downloads & an album deal in the UK. Then they went to Uni http://www.audiostreet.net/artist.aspx?artistid=26862 Warning very post hardcore Emo or whatever they call it
miserableoldgit Posted 26 February, 2012 Posted 26 February, 2012 At last I've got some music by someone who is now under 50, I think these guys are great, Bought "Nothing is Wrong" some months ago. It is brilliant.
dubai_phil Posted 26 February, 2012 Posted 26 February, 2012 At last I've got some music by someone who is now under 50, I think these guys are great, *like* We NEVER here stuff like this down here unless you guys post the links
Lord Duckhunter Posted 27 February, 2012 Posted 27 February, 2012 Bought "Nothing is Wrong" some months ago. It is brilliant. I told my daughter that I was now down with the kids and hip as I had a "download" of a modern band. Her reply was "they maybe young, but it's old mans music". LOL
scott_saints Posted 28 February, 2012 Posted 28 February, 2012 Listening to the new Dodgy album- Stand Upright In A Cool Place. Very good!!
Jonnyboy Posted 28 February, 2012 Posted 28 February, 2012 http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=KgemeBsgCQY
pap Posted 1 March, 2012 Posted 1 March, 2012 I have checked out that Dawes album - about six listens clocked up. I shall play it in the car tomorrow, and we'll get an idea of whether it's old man's music or not.
SuperMikey Posted 1 March, 2012 Posted 1 March, 2012 Joy Division - Closer Kings of Convenience - Riot On An Empty Street Dry The River - Weights & Measures EP I'm in a happy mood this evening...
latter day saint Posted 1 March, 2012 Posted 1 March, 2012 http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=KgemeBsgCQY i liked that.cheers
This Charming Man Posted 2 March, 2012 Posted 2 March, 2012 The Black Keys - El Camino is on heavy rotation at the moment.
pap Posted 2 March, 2012 Posted 2 March, 2012 Very good shout from the people who recommended, seconded and thirded that Dawes album. As promised, I played a track on the school run this morning - "A Little Bit of Everything". Juvenile Unit #1 said "that's alright, actually", which is about as positive a response as is possible from a sixteen-year old.
dubai_phil Posted 3 March, 2012 Posted 3 March, 2012 (edited) This lot are appealing to my warped sense of humour at the moment Givemeister Lady Gaga?? Or maybe 9 million bicycles in Beijing He seems to be a serious Dutch "singer" but we did ROFL at the start to Bad Romance Edited 3 March, 2012 by dubai_phil
miserableoldgit Posted 4 March, 2012 Posted 4 March, 2012 This is beautiful. From Thea Gilmores Sandy Denny CD. Georgia was Sandys daughter :- http://www.myspace.com/sandydenny/music/songs/georgia-84644920
miserableoldgit Posted 4 March, 2012 Posted 4 March, 2012 Dougie MacLean - Caledonia. Absolutely wonderful!
scotty Posted 4 March, 2012 Posted 4 March, 2012 Someone I know slightly gave me a couple of cd's by Joe Bonamassa. Never heard of him before, but I was blown away by them, terrific blues-rock guitarist, I've been playing them non stop for a week now. Terrific stuff, highly recommended.
SuperMikey Posted 5 March, 2012 Posted 5 March, 2012 Bonobo - Black Sands The Herbaliser - Something Wicked This Way Comes Roots Manuva - Brand New Second Hand
RonManager Posted 5 March, 2012 Posted 5 March, 2012 Bonobo - Black Sands The Herbaliser - Something Wicked This Way Comes Roots Manuva - Brand New Second Hand None of these songs or bands exist. You'll be telling me next that The Beatles were the best band ever. They didn't exist either.
RonManager Posted 5 March, 2012 Posted 5 March, 2012 (edited) Devo - Are we not men? Edited 5 March, 2012 by RonManager
Seany S Posted 6 March, 2012 Posted 6 March, 2012 Archers Of Loaf - Icky Mettle. lol, I love the way that you are basically me, in musical taste terms. On the way to work this morning it was "Vs." by Mission of Burma. What a groundbreaking album that was, still sounds amazing. Saturday morning I had to give my bro a lift to play golf and listened to the entirety of Minutemen "Double Nickels on The Dime" - all 43 tracks, driving through the forest, in the sunshine. It was awesome. Throw in the Black Flag, Dinosaur and Sonic Youth I have returned to in the past week and my life has been a bit on an SST/80s indie records love in.
SuperMikey Posted 6 March, 2012 Posted 6 March, 2012 None of these songs or bands exist. You'll be telling me next that The Beatles were the best band ever. They didn't exist either. My cover is blown...
