pap Posted 5 August, 2011 Posted 5 August, 2011 AC/DC are back on the playlist, although Bon Scott's getting more of a nod than Brian Johnson at the minute. Musical comfort food.
pap Posted 6 August, 2011 Posted 6 August, 2011 This has been around for a good few years now, but still brilliant :- Jay Z vs Architecture in Helsinki - 99 Hearts
Julian H. Cope Posted 7 August, 2011 Author Posted 7 August, 2011 The Black Ghosts - When Animals Stare Little Dragon - Ritual Union
RonManager Posted 18 August, 2011 Posted 18 August, 2011 The Undertones - 30+ years on, just as fresh as ever. Marvellous.
Seany S Posted 19 August, 2011 Posted 19 August, 2011 Action Bronson - Bon Appetit....*****! - mixtape from new-ish Queens MC who really shone on the recent Wu Tang "Legendary Weapons" album. He is a big white fella who works as a chef in the real world...so his rhymes are full of food references and metaphors. He also sounds a bit like Ghostface and Kool G Rap, which is ace. His album proper is super too, called "Dr Lecter". Well worth checking out. Ferrari Boyz - mindless rap fun from Wacka Flocka Flame and Gucci Mane, Lil Wayne involved as exec producer, some typically ri-donk-ulous beats from Lex Luger Hudson Mohawke - Satin Panthers - more dubsteppy breaks from up and coming Glaswegian craftsman. Would love to hear someone rap over some of his beats. Ghostpoet - Peanut Butter Blues & Melancholy Jam - trippy, dubstep enthused, almost Gil Scott Heron-y stuff, best listened to late at night
dinger Posted 19 August, 2011 Posted 19 August, 2011 Ghostpoet - Peanut Butter Blues & Melancholy Jam - trippy, dubstep enthused, almost Gil Scott Heron-y stuff, best listened to late at night He's doing a gig at the Railer in Winchester soon-ish... http://www.facebook.com/#!/event.php?eid=190428291019844

badgerx16 Posted 19 August, 2011 Posted 19 August, 2011 (edited) A few Kirsty McColl tracks followed somewhat eclectically by AC/DC. Edited 20 August, 2011 by badgerx16
Rory Posted 1 September, 2011 Posted 1 September, 2011 The Rapture -- In the Grace of Your Love. A TRIUMPH.
Dr Who? Posted 4 September, 2011 Posted 4 September, 2011 XFM, and it is so much better, and relaxing than watching the crap on the idiot box. I 100% prefer to listen to music than have the TV on, and if the TV is on and I am on my own, the music channels go on. Music all the way for me!! Sorry went off on one there! The specials - Ghost Town!!
RonManager Posted 4 September, 2011 Posted 4 September, 2011 Off to see PJ Harvey at the 02Apollo in Manchester on Thursday. Marvellous.

Block 5 Posted 17 September, 2011 Posted 17 September, 2011 John Lee Hooker and Canned Heat - 'Hooker n Heat'.
pap Posted 17 September, 2011 Posted 17 September, 2011 "David Comes to Life" by "F*cked Up". Concept album. Three guitars. Growling lead singer who apparently likes to self-harm on stage. Takes about six listens to click, but is awesome when it does (if you like your rock music).
Elias Posted 17 September, 2011 Posted 17 September, 2011 Listening to a lot of Gary Moore stuff at the moment, both the 90s bluesy stuff and the 80s hard rock/metal. Whatever genre the man was a guitar god.
SuperMikey Posted 19 September, 2011 Posted 19 September, 2011 Scroobius Pip - Distraction Pieces Bit hit-and-miss, but only listened to it a few times. Might take a few more listens to properly click as an album. Top picks: Introdiction, Broken Promise, Let 'Em Come
SuperMikey Posted 19 September, 2011 Posted 19 September, 2011 I'm also listening to Grouplove's new album Never Trust A Happy Song. It's pretty good, very chirpy stuff with good energy. Not the deepest of albums, but it's probably a good album to put on when you wake up in the morning.
pap Posted 19 September, 2011 Posted 19 September, 2011 Today's mission in the car. Get back from the gym before the guitar solo in Freebird finished. We failed. The version I've got doesn't even conclude with a big rock ending. It just fades out. Makes me wonder whether they're still playing the solo in some studio somewhere. Has to be in the top 10 longest guitar solos.
