Redbul Posted 3 December, 2010 Posted 3 December, 2010 NME Awards 2011 News Crystal Castles, Magnetic Man, Everything Everything, Vaccines for NME Awards Tour 2011... Got my tickets for Bournemouth Opera House date (16th Feb) the other day, going to be one immense night. Will also post this up on the gigs section but as Crystal Castles (great new band) and Everything Everything (saw them at Talking Heads few months back and they were absolutely suuuuuuuuuuuuuperb) have had a few mentions on here I thought i'd share. Magnetic Man i'm sure alot of you are aware of and I can't wait to see them and the Vaccines are another fantastic new band. In short... February 16th cannot come quick enough. They're not that new, been around for at least 4 years I'd have thought.... I'm still playing The Felice Brothers and Delta Spirit. But I do envy you and your tickets....!!!!
saint_jas Posted 3 December, 2010 Posted 3 December, 2010 Currently Faithless as I have just seen them at Nottingham Arena, oh wow what a gig. Also got to see Example live as well.
manji Posted 4 December, 2010 Posted 4 December, 2010 Forest Swords - Dagger Paths Superb album. LA Vampires feat.Matrix Metals-So Unreal
Redbul Posted 5 December, 2010 Posted 5 December, 2010 Going back a few years and am giving Tricky - Maxinquaye a run out.
miserableoldgit Posted 5 December, 2010 Posted 5 December, 2010 Today I am mostly in a Christmas mood listening to "James Taylor at Christmas" (the best Christmas album IMHO), followed by "Kate Rusby - Sweet Bells" and "Gretchen Peters - Northern Lights", whilst decorating the tree.

IamLeGod Posted 6 December, 2010 Posted 6 December, 2010 Daft Punk - Tron Legacy Match made in heaven. YES!!!
Julian H. Cope Posted 6 December, 2010 Author Posted 6 December, 2010 I also think Everything Everything and The Vaccines are over-hyped Brit-Indie tosh................................. Thanks for that. I value your opinion so much, I killed my wife after playing the over-hyped Everything Everything. I think you should write for Mojo.
Rory Posted 6 December, 2010 Posted 6 December, 2010 Daft Punk - Tron Legacy Match made in heaven. YES!!! It stinks.
percy windham Posted 7 December, 2010 Posted 7 December, 2010 Thanks for that. I value your opinion so much, I killed my wife after playing the over-hyped Everything Everything. I think you should write for Mojo. I was at Brockenhurst College with the singer from the Vaccines. He was a bit of a twunt then. Was very snobbish towards people who liked the kind of music he now plays.
badgerx16 Posted 8 December, 2010 Posted 8 December, 2010 The current ear-worm of choice in our house is "A Complete History of the Soviet Union As Told By A Humble Worker, Arranged To The Melody Of Tetris" by Pig With the Face of a Boy : Brilliant video and very clever and catchy.
Rory Posted 8 December, 2010 Posted 8 December, 2010 I was at Brockenhurst College with the singer from the Vaccines. He was a bit of a twunt then. Was very snobbish towards people who liked the kind of music he now plays. The problem with The Vaccines is that they're playing the same kind of music the Yanks produced in the early 00s (Walkmen/National/Exploding Hearts...). Now the NME are championing them as some sort of saviours. To me, they sum up the British rock scene. No originality, no excitement.
LVSaint Posted 9 December, 2010 Posted 9 December, 2010 I'm hoping Squarepusher's Shobaleader One guitar band project grows on me after a first listen, but I miss his old stuff rather a lot.

Julian H. Cope Posted 10 December, 2010 Author Posted 10 December, 2010 I don't read The NME. I read my back catalogue of Smash Hits, my favourite band at the moment are Culture Club. I think the lead singer is a man.
Special K Posted 10 December, 2010 Posted 10 December, 2010 Al Green - I Gotta be More - just about to be followed by I'm a Ram.

SuperMikey Posted 12 December, 2010 Posted 12 December, 2010 The abominable X Factor winner's single 2010, it's a cover of a f*cking Biffy Clyro song, a band which has just lost all of the integrity and respect they built up over the years.

Biffy and I went up to Eton together. Biffy bought it at Ypres in 1917. Goodnight.

Hamilton Saint Posted 13 December, 2010 Posted 13 December, 2010 Kevin Ayers and the Whole World - 'Whatevershebringswesing'. Just by chance I found a recent album release by Kevin Ayers (just a few years ago) at my local library. It's called The Unfairground. It's very good. Sounds a lot like the old LPs (interesting, varied instrumentation and melliflous, baritone vocals). Of special interest to keen fans.

the stain Posted 20 December, 2010 Posted 20 December, 2010 I'm hoping Squarepusher's Shobaleader One guitar band project grows on me after a first listen, but I miss his old stuff rather a lot. S'not grown on me yet. Have you listened to any Flying Lotus? I'm finding that an acceptable substitute for decent new 'Pusher material.
channonwindmill Posted 24 December, 2010 Posted 24 December, 2010 Jenny & Johnny - 'I'm Having Fun Now'
Hamilton Saint Posted 24 December, 2010 Posted 24 December, 2010 A Child's Christmas in Wales by Dylan Thomas. Brilliant writing - and the reading, done by the author, is quirky and full of fun and warm reminiscence. Perfect listening during a long drive.
