I'm up for that Rory, i'm always making playlists that just sit there unused on my Spotify account!

I'm currently listening to Kurran and the Wolfnotes - impress your friends by mentioning them down the pub one night and win +500 smarm points when they get astronomically big next year.

Props....

Hi music fans, I'm looking to start up a new section on my website (which will be expanded before the start of the new year) where people can post up their own Spotify playlists for other people to enjoy. The idea is very similar to the one on here but I'm willing to continue it, as I say, on my site. If anyone is interested, let me know.

Cheers.

Deffo. I have a fair few playlists already that might interest people with interest in obscure nu-folk. lol... but yeh, for what it's worth, count me in. Whats the site?

Is it any good? Nearer to "Rust Never Sleeps" or "Harvest Moon"?

Very good. Nearer to Rust Never Sleeps - i.e., it's more rock than folk. But it's not a band album. Just Neil on Les Paul guitar mostly (a couple of tunes feature acoustic guitar) with lots of interesting post-production effects applied to the guitar and vocal parts by producer Lanois. Neil doesn't do guitar solos here, as you would expect, but plays rhythm guitar decorated, as I said, with Lanois' electronic effects. No outstanding songs, I think, but it's a solid effort - interesting because of the soundscapes created by Lanois.

I was clicking around to find some Lyrics to make a joke on the Chilean Lift Music thread and looked for "Fake" as lyrics. Google found "Fake It" by Seether.

When I clicked the Link, Jango said it had made a new radio station which plays a whole buinch of modern Heavy Metal from Bands I have never heard of + Creed.

Am really enjoying it.

I've arrived pretty late at this particular party, but last night I happened upon a band called Tape, from Sweden (I think). Just downloaded what appears to be their first album, Opera, and it's beautiful, quiet, almost transparent post-rock, predominantly guitar, laptop and melodica. This album's from 2002 and there appear to be 3 or 4 more since. Anybody else heard of them? I recommend.

Went out for a short walk with my MP3 player on shuffle ; got "White Man in Hammersmith Palais" followed by "Stairway to Heaven", then "Enter Sandman", "Don't Fear the Reaper", and finally "Smells Like Teen Spirit".

Villagers - Becoming a Jackal

Class album, class live.

I have got my promo copy of the Avey Tare album today and will be writing a review for next Thursday. Unbelievably excited.

This is brilliant, by the way. It's a tough listen, and not as instantly grabbing as Bros by Panda Bear, but it's pretty stunning once you're immersed.

I'm surprised Pitchfork only gave it 7.9.

On the first day of issue I picked up the new Lennon boxed set, which has nearly all of his solos albums - remastered.

Been listening to a lot of those CDs. Some wildly uneven stuff in there, but brings back lots of great memories.

Nice.

I've got lots of his albums. My favourite is The Confessions of Dr. Dream and Other Stories.

Good shout (as usual) Hamilton Saint.

I'm not sure which is my favourite, they're all so good (up until Sweet Deceiver and then it's all a bit downhill).

However he released The Unfairground about 3 years ago, and I rather like that; it's a bit of a return to form.

But there is no disputing the fact that Kevin Ayers is a song-writing genius.

And one can't forget his part in the formative years of psychedelia with the Soft Machine.

Sadly, he is all but forgotten these days.
