IamLeGod Posted 10 August, 2010 Share Posted 10 August, 2010 I'm aware of how this may seem, and what people may think. BUT, Kylie's new album is a pretty good pop record.

Danny R Posted 19 August, 2010 Share Posted 19 August, 2010 Delays new album (Star Tiger, Star Ariel) is probably their best if least immediate album. Other than that, Elvis Costello's Armed Forces (although it's 3 songs too long) and Serge Gainsburg's Du jazz du la revin at the moment. There are some good moments on the free o)-I-> album that came with the Mirror. Off to V tomorrow with the Mrs, can't really say I'm looking forward to seeing anyone other than The Coral and Seasick Steve, the rest of the lineup is horrendous. I don't suppose any of the lesser known bands are any good on the bill???

Ha ha, I love a musical snob. I used to be just like you; only liking what the NME tells me to. However, I grew up, got a girlfriend and learned to love a well put together pop song. Still, I can always go back and listen to Bobby Gillespie's excellent rapping on XTRMNTR

Do check out Passion Pit though, They are a really good band who do well live aswell. The other recomendation i'd have would be the Eels. They got some great past tracks and there newer stuff is ruddy good also.

Block 5 Posted 20 August, 2010 Share Posted 20 August, 2010 Various Artists - 'Strange Games and Funky Things III' A 3 CD set that is a great compilation for rare groove lovers. Disc 3 is a mix (of most of discs 1 & 2) by Kenny 'Dope' Gonzalez and is without a doubt one of my 5 top mixes of all time. I bought this 10 years ago and I still haven't tired of it. saintscottofthenortham Posted 20 August, 2010 Share Posted 20 August, 2010 Killing Joke-Brighter Than A Thousand Suns Wise man. I was only introduced to these last year as im a bit of a spring chicken. But my word, what a band. Was nice to see where one a personal favourite riff was pretty much bumped from aswell i.e Nirvana - 'Come as you Are' and 'Eighties'. I love all there stuff as I have every album now, but there debut is by far there best, although I can't help but have a soft spot for the 2003 'Killing Joke' album, purely because Sir David Grohl is on drums!
