RonManager Posted 23 June, 2010 Posted 23 June, 2010 You boring ****s. I've got all their stuff. Brilliant.
hamster Posted 23 June, 2010 Posted 23 June, 2010 You boring ****s. some of us prefer stuff that does not require the listener to be pilled up to the eyeballs. Only joshing, I expect that peopel from our era are quite likely pilled up for medical reasons, which does in fact make us boring I suppose as there is a world of differnce between choosing to take drugs and having to take them.
the stain Posted 24 June, 2010 Posted 24 June, 2010 You boring ****s. Sorry about this, I was a bit tiddly after the football.
teamsaint Posted 24 June, 2010 Posted 24 June, 2010 Just heard about the death of Chris Sievey of the Freshies/Frank Siddebotham. so listening to a few Freshies singles. Always loved the Freshies take on life, my kids even loved "octopus" when they were young. Really talented bloke, who made some terrific records. "Wrap up the rockets" sounds as fresh and relevant as it did when it was released. My Tape's Gone. R.I.P.
Pancake Posted 25 June, 2010 Posted 25 June, 2010 Rancid. A lot of Rancid. Too much Rancid in fact. I can now only hear in 3 chords and speak in a quasi-Nu Yoik accent even though Im from LA.
Block 5 Posted 25 June, 2010 Posted 25 June, 2010 The Greatest Show On Earth - 'The Going's Easy'. I can't believe someone's uploaded 'Borderline' on YouTube. Check it out.
Seany S Posted 25 June, 2010 Posted 25 June, 2010 Listening to a ton of old-school hip hop lately. Biz Markie, MC Shan, Kool G Rap & Polo, Marley Marl, Pete Rock & CL Smooth, Run DMC, Roxanne Shante, Ultramagnetics, 3rd Bass, Boogie Down. And incidentally, if anyone would like to hear me spin loads of this sort of stuff, as well as rap and hip hop from every era, I will be doing my thing in Goblets on the 10th of July - it should be a cracker.
RonManager Posted 25 June, 2010 Posted 25 June, 2010 You sure? Ho Yus - just enjoyed it in the RonMobile whilst cruising back from Minehead to Taunton on a glorious sunny 'drivin' day.
Deppo Posted 25 June, 2010 Posted 25 June, 2010 Ok then. I'm listening to The Drums long player. I rather like it.

manji Posted 8 July, 2010 Posted 8 July, 2010 Factory Floor-Lying EP. One of the most exciting bands to come out of this country in years.

saintfully Posted 8 July, 2010 Posted 8 July, 2010 Cate le Bon. She's Welsh and has a nice voice. I like her. She's a bit weird and if I did some 'shrooms in a wood I'd say she'd probably calm me down whilst getting me high.
badgerx16 Posted 9 July, 2010 Posted 9 July, 2010 Grimethorpe Colliery Band on Radio 2 ( listen again ). ( My son plays for them )
Hamilton Saint Posted 9 July, 2010 Posted 9 July, 2010 Grimethorpe Colliery Band on Radio 2 ( listen again ). ( My son plays for them ) What a coinicidence! I watched the film Brassed Off last night, which includes the wonderful music of that band (called the Grimley Colliery Band in the film).

I watched the film Brassed Off last night, which includes the wonderful music of that band (called the Grimley Colliery Band in the film). The band also played on Roy Harper's 'When an Old Cricketer Leaves the Crease'. One of the most moving and evocative songs ever written. Full of allegory........ Have a listen.
bridge too far Posted 10 July, 2010 Posted 10 July, 2010 Just had a re-listen of ELP 'Pictures at an Exhibition' after hiearing them interviewed on Radio 5 Live

Full of allegory........ Have a listen. Thanks. Yes, I'm very familiar with that track. I'm a big Roy Harper fan - got half-a-dozen of his LPs on vinyl. I didn't realise, though, that it was the Grimethorpe Colliery Band on that track. By the way, in North America the HQ album was re-titled When An Old Cricketer Leaves the Crease and the cover art and photographs have a cricket theme. I used to play that track a lot when I was a DJ for my university's radio station.
