Colinjb Posted 10 June, 2010 Posted 10 June, 2010 Have you been raiding my car ? Only if you also have The Open Door by Evanescence in there too.
badgerx16 Posted 10 June, 2010 Posted 10 June, 2010 (edited) Only if you also have The Open Door by Evanescence in there too. No, but I do have Fallen. What with the Lacuna Coil, Nightwish, Sirenia, and Within Temptation CDs, ( not to mention Etta James and Kate Rusby ), my wife is forever moaning about my collection of "squawking women". Mind you, today's driving entertainment was U2's Achtung Baby. Edited 10 June, 2010 by badgerx16

Mind you, today's driving entertainment was U2's Achtung Baby. Hmmm, I may have to look up Sirenia, any pointers where to start? My ex did complain that I only liked screaming women, takes one to know one! May I also recommend Epica to you, bloody brilliant. Incidentally Muse - United States of Eurasia.
badgerx16 Posted 10 June, 2010 Posted 10 June, 2010 Muse - United States of Eurasia. That's the only one not currently in my posession. As for Sirenia, I started with downloaded tracks from YouTube, etc, and burned my own CD of the best ones, but they have a habit of swapping their lead singers at regular intervals. ( Mind you, there's the whole other side of me - Maiden, Metallica, Led Zepp, Deep Purple, Rainbow, Staind, The Clash )

She sang in Stevie Wonder's backing band Wonderlove in the '70s. Stevie produced Perfect Angel. Hamilton Saint Posted 15 June, 2010 Posted 15 June, 2010 Love is Strange by Jackson Browne and David Lindley - a recently-released 2 CD album recorded live in March 2006, during a tour of Spain. The band includes half-a-dozen of Browne's Spanish musician-friends. Lindley is featured on a few of his own songs on the first disc, but it's pretty much all Jackson Browne material, featuring fresh arrangements and interpretations. A good bet for those who like these guys!
Block 5 Posted 15 June, 2010 Posted 15 June, 2010 Oh, yes. She sang in Stevie Wonder's backing band Wonderlove in the '70s. Stevie produced Perfect Angel. Riperton was celebrated for her five-octave vocal range - she could hit notes that only dogs could hear! She had such an beautiful voice. I've just got hold of 'Come to My Garden' which features the totally gorgeous 'Les Fleur' (which was covered by 4Hero). Before her successful solo career she was in an experimental psychedelic soul band called 'Rotary Connection'. The band was the brainchild of Marshall Chess (who's father Leonard founded Chess Records) and they released their self-titled debut album in 1967. Their albums are pretty rare and expensive (I've seen the debut album on CD go for £100!!) but there is a a pretty good 'best of' compilation called 'Black Gold' that is as cheap as chips and well worth picking up. (Just don't tell Manji). It's here on Amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/Black-Gold-Very-Rotary-Connection/dp/B000E6ETDO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1276592974&sr=1-1

SuperMikey Posted 18 June, 2010 Posted 18 June, 2010 (edited) Excellent choice! Hampshire girl as well, I understand. She's from Reading, close enough! Such an excellent album though, there's some really beautiful songs on there. Looking forward to seeing her next Saturday evening up at The Park stage at Glastonbury, one of the most serene and calm places onsite! Going to be brilliant Really !!! A ****ing busker !! He does come across as a busker I suppose, but he's immensely talented. Have you seen him live? If not, I suggest you get yourself a ticket to one of his gigs, he really is uh-may-zing live. Watch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjT86g9gTKk and tell me that's not f*cking brilliant! Edited 18 June, 2010 by SuperMikey
