Jackson Browne and David Lindley - Love is Strange.

Lovely live double CD

I ordered that a couple of days ago from Amazon - along with the deluxe 2-CD remastered re-issue of Exile on Main Street. Should be delivered tomorrow!

BTW, did you see Browne and Lindley during their recent UK concert tour?

Here's one for you:

I'll not say who it is but give it a listen and whilst listening have a think about how far we have supposedly come. This music, like punk and rock n roll, is from the hearty of people who are ****ed off with politicians, royalty rulemakers in general and the like.

Well, I like it. Actually, it almost brought a tear to my eye ('almost' I said).

Nice call hamster. F**k me, Billy didn't mince words did he..? So refreshing to hear that nowadays, when attitudes have hardly progressed a single iota. I have a Billy Bragg album around somewhere. I'll dig it out, or go Youtubing.

EDIT: Off my album - It Says Here

Love it! Billy Bragg is my all time musical hero. Well I always felt it was good to be able to sing better than one's heroes.

He taught me to play guitar, helped me over many a relationship breakup, gave me a life-long love of language, showed me the relevance of politics and drummed into me the importance of compassion for your fellow man.

I don't always agree with him but love him or hate him, very few people can craft a lyric like this man.

Very relevant following the election his

is a general comment on the apathy of the electorate, and specifically a call to arms to remove Thatcher's conservative party from power.

This clip taken from "The Tube" from the Red Wedge era and is complete with guitar/amp failure near the end.

Been watching a lot of French TV recently with my French exams coming up, and came across this guy performing on TV5 (who do a show called Acoustic in which they get a lot of bands in to do sessions, think Jools Holland but with more garlic).

I like him, although he's quite bubblegum. He sounds kind of like a modern day James Brown imo...

I have also ordered this.

I am seeing them at The Royal Albert Hall in June. I first got into JB`s music back in the early 70`s when I saw him play "For a Dancer" with David Lindley on "The Old Grey Whistle Test". 1976:-

2006:- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=12E3EgTXk1A&feature=related

I was immediately hooked and have been ever since. Have all of his albums and "Late For the Sky" is my all-time favourite album.

I saw the two of them in concert at The Riverboat (a folk club in Toronto) ca. 1973. I'm also a big fan. My favourite albums are Late For The Sky (from the early period) and I'm Alive (from the more recent stuff). I have to admit that I lost interest a bit in his more overtly political period on the 80s (Lawyers in Love, World in Motion, Hold Out, Live in the Balance). I much prefer his songs about personal relationships.

Browne's and Lindley's tour continues across the U.S., after they're done in the UK. No dates announced yet, though, for eastern Canada. I hope they make it to this part of the world!
